BMW i8 vs. Ferrari Speciale vs. McLaren MP4 and Many Others in Drag Races, Video Revealed

It is not very often we see the BMW`s first plug-in hybrid engaging in drag races against other spectacular and more performance supercars, but it seems that the i8 has the upper-hand when accelerating from the start.

And the video posted below does actually prove that the BMW i8 is capable of handle those tough rides, like the Ferrari Speciale, McLaren MP4, Nissan GTR or Skyline R33 GTR, Ferrari 458 Speciale Aperta or the powerful Porsche 911 GT3.

The event was held by MDKSuperCars and to add up some flavor, a couple of other BMW models such as the M4 and the 1M have been also thrown into the battle against the BMW i8. But what makes the i8 so worthy competitor in drag races?

Well, it uses the engine awarded I3 1.5-liter turbo, backed by a synchronous motor, developing an overall 357 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque. The hybrid powertrain is also hooked to a lithium-ion battery, which provides a 35 km mile range, at a topping of 120 km/h.
