Saab and BMW agreement for engines supply gets official
We talked a couple of days ago about the agreement made between Saab and BMW, in order for Saab to borrow engines from BMW for the future models. At that time, we were talking based on a confirmed rumored by an official source but now the agreement was finished and its official that the future Saab models, more exactly the next 9-3 generation expected to debut in 2012 will be the first to benefit from the Bavarian engines.

Jan Ake Jonsson and Victor Muller from Saab and the BMW executive Ian Robertson signed the contract today, Wednesday, in Trollhattan. It seems that Saab will get from BMW the four-cylinder turbocharged 1.6-liter engine equipped with the start/stop technology.
Also, there are some details regarding to, the new incoming 9-2 model may borrow the platform used by Mini Countryman. Saab CEO Jan Ake Jonsson claimed that they decided to sign a contract with BMW especially because the German manufacturer creates economic and reliable engines.
