BMW is looking forward to officially unveiling a special BMW i8, called the BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition, at the upcoming 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

We are dealing here with a limited edition which will go on sale this July. What makes this a real special version is the one-off body wrap complemented by the Frozen Grey metallic accents, as well as the exquisite 20-inch W-spoke lightweight rims, finished in Aluminum matte and Orbit Grey metallic.

Inside, the carmaker has used the red contrast stitching, carbon fiber trim, the “i8” embossed headrests, carbon fiber “Protonic Red Edition” door sill plates, grey seat belts, black ceramic accent on the gear selector, customized floor mats with leather piping and the same red contrast stitching.

The BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition has not received any upgrades under the hood, the plug-in hybrid model still packing the 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder engine and an electric motor, both hooked to a lithium-ion battery pack.

The BMW i8 outputs an overall power of 357 horsepower which allows an acceleration of just 4.3 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, at a topping of 250 km/h.

Prices and additional information will be known at the hybrid`s official launch at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, starting the 1st of March.
