Next-generation BMW 1 Series – new engines and new equippment levels
People at BMW announced that two new engines will debut in the same time and on the next-generation BMW 1 Series, at Frankfurt Auto Show, in 2011. The BMW 120i Coupe will benefit from a four-cylinder engine with a capacity of 2.0-liter able to provide a total amount of 170 horsepower and 210Nm.
The diesel version 118d Coupe benefits also from a four-cylinder unit able to deliver 143 horsepower and a fuel consumption of 4.5 liters at 100 km/h. The petrol engine, 120i Coupe, is able to accelerate to 100 km/h in 7,8 secons thanks to the 170 hp delivered by the 2.0-liter unit.
Regarding the new editions available on the three and five-door versions prepared by BMW for the little model, the Bavarian manufacturer operated modifications on aesthetics. The first package, called Lifestyle, comes with new 17-inch rims and a special body color called Marrakesh Brown Metallic. The Sport package comes with 17-inch rims, a modified steering wheel, a sport suspension, largely, aesthetic improvements available for the M packages developed by BMW.
