BMW i100 Coupe ActiveHybrid to be Launched in 2013 According to Rumors
New rumors have been appearing regarding the new BMW i100 Coupe ActiveHybrid. The electric sports car will be launched in the year 2013 and is considered to rival the e-Tron from Audi and the E-Cell from Mercedes.
The BMW i100 Coupe ActiveHybrid will have between 165hp and 185hp from a three cylinder direct injection engine with two additional electric motors that will supply 100hp more. The U.S. is said to get a four cylinder version, rather than a three cylinder one. No arguments here.
There will also be an M version of the i100 which will feature a six cylinder engine taken from the M3 and high performance capacitators.
Further on the specs list, the i100 Coupe will have a maximim electric range of 50 kilometers, with a minimum one of about 15 kilometers. Thanks to the above engines, the model will reach 60mph in 4.8 seconds and will have a maximum speed of 155mph (250kmh) which will be limited electronically, so more speed is within reach with the right tinkering. The BMW i100 Coupe will benefit from the Vision EfficientDynamics and will have a fuel consumption of 3.7 liters.
35,000 units are planned to be sold by BMW, each having an estimated price of $130,000. More info will be had at the 2011 Motor Show hosted in Frankfurt, where the BMW i100 Coupe is rumored to show up.
