Videos & Gallery: 2018 F90 BMW M5 xDrive Kicks Off – Price and Specs Revealed

Read Time:2 Minute, 52 Second

The long-awaited and most anticipated car of the year from BMW is no doubt the recently presented 2018 F90 BMW M5, just ahead the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.

This is a state-of-the-art car with plenty of technology and an impressive design language – even if some might have had more expectations on that matter – all packed with plenty of power and performance under the hood.

As usual, when it comes to launching new models, the German based carmaker released a series of videos which thoroughly explain the car`s exterior, interior, performance, driving modes and so on. They can be watched below, but not until hearing out about the car`s most important specifications.

Once going on the market next spring for at least 117,900 euros, the all-new F90 BMW M5 will be available in the First Edition variant (which by-the-way will cost 19,500 euros more than the standard), with a Frozen Dark Red Metallic exterior, gloss black accents or 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels.

In standard form, the “most emotionally engaging all-wheel-drive system” as the company likes to call the all-new M5, will stand out from the crowd with the same aggressive design lines that the M division has to offer – large air intakes for the front bumper, aerodynamic mirrors, sculpted aluminum hood and CFRP roof. Other highlights include the four-tailpipe sports exhaust system or integrated diffuser for the updated rear bumper.

The entire design looks smashing with the new 19-inch polished wheels with Orbit Grey finish, adding as well high-performance brakes with blue-painted six-piston calipers at the front and single-piston floating calipers at the rear.

The interior follows the same language design as the rest of the 5-Series, still adding the M sport steering wheel, M multifunction seats, Merino leather sport seats and much more.

The car`s main highlight is in my humble opinion, the raw power that seats under the hood. We are dealing here with a 4.4-liter M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine, with no less than 600 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque, allowing an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, at a top speed of 305 km/h. The 0 to 200 km/h sprint is also achieved in 11.1 seconds, thanks to the latest eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system.

As seen in one of the videos below, the 2018 F90 BMW M5 xDrive is also equipped with the 4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD driving modes, adding as well the Active M Differential at the back, as well as the Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus modes for the VDC (Variable Damper Control) system. Other mechanics include the new M Servotronic steering, M brakes or the M suspension system.

Full details are explained in the amazing videos presented below. Also, don’t forget to check out the media gallery with the all-new F90 BMW M5!
