2018 F90 BMW M5 Pops-Up in New Spy Video during Tests at the Ring

Read Time:1 Minute, 25 Second

The 2018 F90 BMW M5 is popping-up in our news again in some fresh tests at the Ring, the test mule being showcased in a spy video as well.

We already knew that the German based carmaker is preparing to launch the all-new F90 M5, which is set to come with improved handling and aerodynamics, way too more advanced than the current M5.

This means that the model will stand on the carmaker`s new high-performance CLAR platform, the same one seen on the newly unveiled 2016 BMW 7-Series, with a considerable amount of aluminum and CFRP to be used. This means that the new M5 will be around 100 kg lighter than the current version.

As we can depict from the spy video, the test driver of the M5 is pushing the car to the limits, especially in tight corners, and that because he is testing out the car`s new and lightweight platform, meaning more stability and maneuverability.

The weight loss will also help the car`s engine give the best performance figures, especially since the company is also planning to fit the massive 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with an upgraded eight-speed ZF transmission used on the present X5 and X6 Ms, or the new-gen seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, that with also fit the new BMW M3 and M4.

The car`s all-wheel drive configuration will be also improved, and will be solely destined to be used in certain situations, for instance when launching the car. We should expect the fresh details in the upcoming months, the model being set for an official debut next year, at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
