The new 2016 BMW X1 recently caught on new spy shots, has now emerged on the web in a new rendering, provided by Top Speed, which anticipates the model`s start on the market, this October. The rendering is based indeed on the shots and indicates some interesting changes compared to the present X1, at least from a design standpoint.
The 2016 BMW X1 is thus preparing to come with a much sportier look, meaning that it might receive new features concerning the body style, like larger air intakes at the front bumper, with chrome inserts, while at the rear, the model will still keep the L-shaped taillights, yet adding new the LED strips.
Surely, the body style will also share some similarities with other newly unveiled models, like the 2-Series Active Tourer, concerning at least the front, where the nose is set to sport more rounded features, while the hood has also received a makeover, being more sculpted and adding more stance to the already aggressive front fascia. The Air Breathers on the sides will finish up the great body work carried out by the German engineers.
Apart from the mods carried out at the exterior, the 2016 BMW X1 will also promise a lot of new features inside, while the space will be wider, thanks to its front-wheel drive platform, or later on, when an all-wheel drive layout system will also emerge.
Under the hood, the 2016 BMW X1 will underpin a wide array of engines, also seen on the MINI and the 2-Series Active Tourer. All of them will be turbocharged, starting with the 3- and 4-cylinder units. We should start with the 1.5-liter three-cylinder unit, with 136 horsepower, while the 2.0-liter four-cylinder will output a higher 231 horsepower.
The diesels will also make their presence, in the shape of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder, with 150 horsepower and six-speed manual or ZF 8-speed automatic transmissions. More powerful diesel units will be added, along with a plug-in hybrid version, based on the recently launched eDrive platform.
