BMW 116d EfficientDynamics sets fuel economy record
BMW managed to obtain impressive fuel consumption figures at this year’s edition of the RAC Future Car Challenge. The event is held in the UK and consists of a 64-mile route which starts in Brighton and has its finish point in London.
Even if the BMW 116d EfficientDynamics comes with an official fuel economy of 74,3mpg UK, the Green-Car-Guide team which driven the German hatchback achieved a fuel consumption of just 103mpg UK or 2,7 liters/100km.
The model in question is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine capable to deliver 116 horsepower and 260Nm of torque.
Power is transferred to the wheels via a six-speed manual transmission, the 0-100 km/ acceleration being possible in 10,5 seconds before topping at 195 km/h. The 39% improvement in terms of fuel consumption over the official figures is quite remarkable and shows how economical you can drive.
“Being able to achieve more than 100mpg is an outstanding result and this is on top of it being the cleanest BMW ever offered for sale in the UK courtesy of 99g/km CO2 emissions,” says BMW UK.
