The BMW 8 Series is a luxury 2 door coupe produced since 1989 and is the successor of the BMW 6 Series E24. It was one of the most memorable and unique BMW and was manufactured in 30,621 units until 1999 when the production was finished.

The BMW 8 series is codenamed E31 and was conceived as a new proposal with a higher value which was addressed to a different market segment of the 6 Series. As we all know, the BMW 8 Series were powered with V8 and V12 engines.

BMW used these engines on the following BMW 8 Series models:

830i: 3 liter V8 engine – 215 hp;
840Ci: 4 liter V8 engine (286 hp) from 1993 to 1995 and 4.4 liter V8 (same power as from 4 liter V8) since 1995;
850i: manufactured since 1990, 5 liter V12 engine – 296 hp);
850Ci: 5.4 liter V12 engine – 322 hp;
850CSi: 5.6 liter V12 – 375hp;
M8 prototype: 558 hp;

Also, there are three transmissions placed on the BMW 8 Series: 4 speed automatic, 5 speed automatic and 6 speed manual.
