2016 BMW X1 xDrive 30e Plug-in Hybrid First Spy Shots Emerged
A plug-in hybrid of the upcoming 2016 BMW X1 has been rumored for some time and now we have the real proof that the German based carmaker is indeed working on the model, thanks to some spy shots provided by World Car Fans auto magazine.
The new BMW X1 plug in hybrid is set to come as a 2016 model and according to some recent reports, it might be called the xDrive30e plug-in hybrid version.
More than that, the spy shots attest the upcoming of an X1 plug-in hybrid, thanks to the sing found on the front right door, saying “hybrid test vehicle”. Another hint is the second fuel cap visible on the front left fender, which will be used for battery recharging.
The 2016 BMW X1 xDrive30e will stand on the same platform used on the base X1 and will fit the same 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline unit, found on the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer. The engine will be hooked to an electric motor.
The overall power will stand at 220 horsepower and 385 Nm of torque. So far, there are no performance figures revealed, but the model might come available somewhere next year, with prices higher than the xDrive25i and xDrive25d, priced from 42,760 euros on the German market.
