2016 BMW X1 Seven-Seater Shot Down

Some spy shots with what it seems to be the future BMW X1 7-seater have just popped up on the web, thanks to the guys from Motor Authority online auto magazine.

We already knew that the German based carmaker was working on some new X1 prototypes, that would complete the lineup for the moment, and thanks to these spy shots, we can now depict the real identity of the 2016 BMW X1, which should appear on the European market alone, at the end of the year.

Taking a closer look, one might see the longer and the flatter roof, with the rear end now standing taller, which includes more space at the back of the model. The side glass is also changed and concludes the presence of a third seat row.

Other than that, little it is known about the 2016 BMW X1, apart from some new rumors, stating that the 7-seater will be standing on the UKL platform, also used on the 2-Series Active Tourer or the future MINI models, meaning that it will come with a base front-wheel drive, as well an all-wheel drive layout.

Under the hood, the 2016 BMW X1 is also expected to use the three- and the four- cylinder units, running on gasoline and diesel, with the top of the line 2.0-liter four-cylinder to develop 231 horsepower. Transmission on the new X1 5-seater and 7-seater will come with the six-speed manual, as well as the eight-speed automatic.
