New BMW 1 Series GT spotted on the road
Even though the GT moniker is not something BMW can boast about, mainly due to the 5 Series Gran Turismo, the company perseveres and started testing a seven-seat variant of the new 1 Series.
From the first information we found out that the upcoming BMW 1 Series GT features a longer wheelbase and could benefit from several styling features found on the Concept Active Tourer prototype seen last year.
The thick layer of camouflage shows that the model is in its early development stages which means that a debut at this year’s edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show is not very likely. Under the bonnet, we could see a new 1.5-liter three-cylinder unit joining the existent range found on the current BMW 1 Series.
The new model will share the UKL platform with the next-gen MINI Cooper and is also possible to be offered in both front- and all-wheel drive configurations.
More information on the new BMW 1 Series GT will be released in the coming months.
