E89 BMW Z4 receives small facelift
We’re all fascinated with new products from BMW these days. Unfortunately, most of them, as sporty and great as they are, tend to be big sedans or crossovers.
Those who still love the purist side of the car rejoice at the thought that BMW is still making the Z4 roadster. It’s gone a tad soft over the years.
It’s also become a lot better in just about every way apart from the sportiness. That’s a feature to soon be fixed anyway.
In the meantime, we get to see a keeping with the comfy precedent set by the current E89 generation of the Z4 as the new facelift is introduced.
The aesthetic changes are, as expected, the sort you need to bust out the magnifying glass if you’re to notice them. There are a few things that are easy to spot.
Three new colors are on offer; Mineral Grey metallic, Glacier Silver metallic and Valencia Orange metallic. The interior also gets a bit of a spruce up with a new styling package.
What really is different, is a new choice of engines. If you ever thought this car had a girly presence, you can spec such an engine now.
The brand new E89 is now available as a sDrive18i version which is powered by a 2.0 liter turbo four banger. The output is just about enough coming in at 156 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque.
You can then stir it yourself with a six speed manual or order up one of the fancier eight speed automatic boxes. Either way, you should be getting some 34.6 mpg US.
