All-new BMW i3 hit the Frankfurt stage
Together with the new BMW i8, the German company also presented the smaller member of the i range, namely the new, fully electric BMW i3. The model still bears the “Concept” badge but we expect to see the series model to get almost all the features of the prototype pictured below. Initially, the BMW i3 was known as the Megacity project but finally the first electric model is called BMW i3 and joins the second model from BMW’s i range, the i8 hybrid sports car.

Under the bonnet, the German city car packs an electric motor able to produce 170 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. According to BMW, the new i3 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds and hits a top speed of 150 km/h.

The lithium-ion battery pack provides a driving range of 160 kilometers while a range-extending gasoline unit will enter the range later.

Charging to 80% with a quick charger takes around an hour for the new BMW i3 while the batteries need almost six hours to recharge at a standard socket. Take a look at the following live photos with the new BMW i3 Concept, live from the Frankfurt Motor Show.
