We live in a world where human imagination exceeds all boundaries and where, with the help of technology, our mind can create or recreate extraordinary machines that could make our lives better and better in the future.

Such an extraordinary machine, especially in the auto industry, is the BMW M1 Shark Concept, envisioned by render artist Alex Imnadze, and is presented in the first drawings below.

We are looking here practically at one of the most futuristic BMW model ever envisioned so far…at least, in my humble imagination.

It is extremely aggressive, comes with an imaginably wide body kit, futuristic design and advanced aerodynamics.

Surely, the artist had to take its inspiration from other outstanding BMW concepts as well, including the BMW M1 Concept, the Gina Concept as well as the 1970 Stratos Zero prototype from Bertone. Also, at a closer look, you could also depict some styling at the front with inspiration from the Vision Next 100 Concept as well.

And we could still be dreaming about the future, where this model would perfectly fit with its ultra-futuristic approach. Just by admiring it, we could imagine it flying into the sky or automatically parking without a driver behind the steering wheel.

But who knows, sketches like these could actually inspire BMW in creating such an extraordinary machine in the upcoming future, especially since the German carmaker has the know-how, the latest technology at its disposal and the most skilled engineers. And I`m 100 percent positive that we will hear more about this exquisite BMW M1 Shark Concept. Until then, keep on dreaming and admiring the extraordinary media gallery below!

Guess that despite the recent woes about high end luxury car sales being on the decline don’t worry BMW too much who are keeping their original plan.

The M1 successor is going ahead in its development and its scheduled release for 2016 remains unaltered. BMW will have a different kind of flagship to fight off Audi’s R8 and Mercedes’ SLS.

It will be a mid-engined supercar, something we haven’t seen BMW do since the early 80’s. Not only that, the BMW M1 it was the only creation from the bavarians to have such a setup.

Unlike the previous version, this car will not be developed alongside Lamborghini, the plans and molds will hopefully not need to be stolen and the commercial success won’t be duplicated.

The first version of this car was a bit of a mess in terms of pricing and sales success. This one is supposed to set landmark history in the German rivalry.

Apart from that, the BMW M1’s development will fall onto the shoulders of the M Division. AMG did their work on the SLS and they ended up with quite the crazy machine.

If the M Division gets the same level of engineering freedom, they may end up producing something that handles beyond what we can dream right now.

There is a bit of controversy about the new announcement though. The M1’s successor will actually be called the M8.

This is done to avoid confusion between the new car and the 1 Series M Coupe. Since the 8 Series doesn’t really exist anymore, we’ll let it slide.

BMW’s superstar comeback is still mostly a mystery, we don’t even know the final shape of the car yet but, like any Scooby Doo show, things are beginning to unravel.

As we found out earlier last month, the BMW M1 will be ready to hit the market by 2016 and it will set its scopes on the Audi R8 and Mercedes SLS.

Just like its predecessor, the BMW M1 will not stray from the idea of two seats, an engine in the middle and a whole lot of power.

Performance levels is where things enter a new league. The 2016 BMW M1 will produce some 600-650 horsepower courtesy of a 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 engine.

More importantly, thanks to lightweight and exotic materials, the new M1 should end up weighing no more than 2755 pounds.

To put it into perspective, it’s about 130 lbs lighter than the original M1 and several hundred pounds lighter than the most stripped down R8.

There’s bound to be some technology borrowed from the i range cars but as no mention of batteries or electric motors has been made we suspect that the lightweight tech is what’s going to matter here.

Pricing estimates of a quarter million are still in place except more and more publications seem to vary the currency. Between euros, dollars or GBP, things could get a little hairy.

Even so, by most accounts, the BMW M1 should deliver similar performance levels to what the Lamborghini Aventador offers yet it should be quite a bit cheaper.

Not a bad recipe.

Are you in the market for buying a used BMW? That’s great, there’s plenty to chose from and there’s plenty of dealer approved models too.

Are you in the market for collecting BMW models? In that case the news in store today is going to be excellent for you.

A BMW M1 has just turned up for sale. Not a 1M Coupe, the original car that kicked Porsche back down and the one that kicked the M Division into existence.

The M1 has a troubled story, it never managed to reach the height of its intended achievement. This is why it was soon forgotten by the motoring world.

This particular example was built in 1988 and it is one of just 456 ever to come into existence. Further more, it’s one of the most cared after cars of the range.

The 1988 BMW M1 in question only has 2.200 miles on the clock so there’s still a lot of life left in this garage toy.

I for one don’t really get car collecting, the holding back on driving and keeping such amazing vehicles away from the public but when it comes to auction something like this off it might be worth it.

The website currently advertising it belongs to Austin Texas dealer Motoreum who haven’t really unveiled any price or at least a reserve.

The traditional “call for price” annoys us and probably pleases the owner of this gem of a straight six cylinder engine in the middle of the M1.

You don’t get Giugiaro design, BMW engines and Lamborghini involvement in a mid engined supercar too often.

I’m still hardly believing it but it seems that the Bavarians at BMW have yet another excellent piece of news for us brand enthusiasts.

Apparently, though it had been on and off for a while, BMW is actually going to make a successor to the iconic M1 supercar of the late 70s.

Despite having said they decided not to make it last year it seems that the recent worries about the i Range are encouraging them to decide against the decision.

The BMW M1 supercar will be introduced just after they unveil the brand new i8 hybrid range so maybe it’s not time to shout about the green cars being killed off.

As it stands, the schedule sees BMW unveil the M1 sometime in 2016 with no actual plan announced for the actual going on sale bit.

Nothing has been uttered on the interior, the final exterior look or the power. Whereas the first one is a full mystery, the design is expected to look a lot like the M1 Hommage concept.

As for the performance levels, there’s a fairly conventional kind of technology to consider. Nothing too fancy, nothing too electric or anything of the likes.

The mid-engined supercar will very likely come with a turbocharged V8 engine much like the one in the M Division’s products so far.

Most estimates see it produce some between 600 and 650 horsepower, having a top speed figure of 205 mph and costing around 250.000 euros.

We will wait and see, but frankly it doesn’t really matter as long as BMW make it and it doesn’t end up costing far more than any Ferrari model.

The Super Bowl is easily the most popular sports event of the beginning of the year and though some watch it for the game, plenty watch for the show that comes around it.

An enormous part of that show’s appeal really is the commercial break in between. BMW participated with two pretty funny ads for the F30 3 Series.

We however feel there could have been a third one. One that has a much much bigger focus on the driving enthusiast and the hardcore fan of BMW products.

It’s very simple, very catchy and features on of the best driving cars out there today, the BMW 1 Series M Coupe. Alongside, stand some of BMW’s greatest racing creations.

The E30 BMW M3 racing version, also known as the Batmobile, the M12 powered F1 racer and, of course, the BMW M1 that raced in the Procar series.

The video itself is pretty self explanatory and yet awesome. We couldn’t really say that it’s because of the truth in the message, the racing pedigree or the lovability of the 1 Series M Coupe.

Regardless of what it’s about, we’re at least hoping to see this commercial see more “regular” air time as a make up for the way it missed the Super Bowl frenzy.

You can’t say the reason this commercial missed a Super Bowl slot is because it’s all about German engineering, supremacy fights, showing off, boring tech stuff and so on.

It really isn’t and has nothing to do with it, it’s just BMW at their finest.

Those waiting for the Bavarians to make a brand new mid-engined super car are in for a bit of disappointment.

BMW hasn’t got any intention to do so and nor does their M division.

In a recent interview with egmcartech that situation was well and truly cleared.

As far as our favorite German company is concerned, the subject of a M1 successor did come into focus recently, but it didn’t get a greenlight.

Most of the discussions revolving around the new supercar came from the idea that BMW might want to try and fight the Audi R8 and the Mercedes SLS.

With these two targets set, BMW’s M division was faced with a choice between a front engine wedge supercar or one that had its engine in the middle. Neither made the mark for a variety of reasons.

A top of the line supercar isn’t in their plans. These decisions took place quite a while back (during the development of the BMW 1 Series M Coupe) but still stand today and for the near future.

BMW of North America’s M-Division Product Manager, Matt Russell, even went as far to say that this isn’t a big loss to the company.

In reality, BMW already makes supercars, it’s just that they also have an executive and practical side. Though it sounds a little like adspeak, Russell does have a point.

Your average BMW M5 buyer either gets enough of a kick from his car, or has some sort of track day machine already setup. There’s no need for a new BMW M1 to enter the picture.

We can hope and we can get enthusiastic about new concepts and possible unveiling news from the BMW M division but every now and again we have to be thought our place.

Having cleared some of the speculation on the F10 BMW M5, Albert Biermann head of product development for the Bavarian company’s M Division moved on to tell us a few extra things.

Sadly, much like we’ve been hearing about the M5, nothing he said this time is of any help or joy to those of us who are enthusiasts and not just fans.

To begin with, the big man said that there’s really no chance of us seeing a modern day version of the iconic BMW M1 supercar despite the concepts we’ve been getting.

No mid-engined BMW that’s built for fun exclusively, no BMW supercar that’s not corrupted by fuel economy ideas such as the i8 but most of all, no M Division only creation.

But hold on BMW and car enthusiasts, the bad news doesn’t end there as Biermann “warns” us about something equally terrible though if we’re honest, almost imminent.

An M badge may end up appearing on a diesel powered BMW and it may actually come around pretty soon.

Truth be told, I may be blowing this out of proportion at the moment, but the head of the BMW M division put the issue of a diesel wearing their badge as follows.

At the moment, good as they may have gotten, they don’t meet their standards, however, when those standards have been surpassed they will not have a drawback into using “the fuel of Satan” to power their creations.

Frankly, what makes it sadder than everything is that deep down inside, no matter how much us enthusiasts have been suppressing it, we knew something of the likes was coming.

This is because in the current automotive industry, at BMW, even within their M division new models boil down to something simple, a business case.

Something that a BMW M1 doesn’t have whereas an M spec diesel will almost certainly have when the time comes.

The BMW M1 is a sports car and was built by hand between 1978 and 1981 by the BMW Motorsport Division.
At the end of the 1970 Lamborghini signed an agreement with BMW to build a race car in sufficient quantity for homologation.

The car body was that of the classic high-performance sedan. The thin wedge shape with a pointed snout rather, the two-seat cockpit, the low center of gravity, and the equally low height of the same car body made her look not so much as a Porsche, as a Ferrari or as a Maserati.

Although the car did not get great sporting achievements, the BMW M1 is remembered as a refined and civilized supercar in the true tradition of BMW.

The car was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in 1978 as a coach of the purely competitive ambitions, rather than road, but the simultaneous change in FIA rules, which raised to 400 the number of copies to be produced for approval in Group 5, forced BMW to seek new partners to reach the required capacity.

The basic concept had: managed turbos for the driver, a thick safety padding: Low center of gravity, wide footprint and a special suspension. There were also driver-assistance systems like ABS, anti-collision warning system and a lateral accelerometer.

The origin of the BMW M1 is in racing. BMW wanted to attract consumers who normally bought cars like Ferrari, etc.

Also, in 2008, BMW marks the 30th anniversary of the BMW M1 and introduced their new concept of the BMW M1, called the BMW M1 Hommage.

We begin this article with an unseen teaser image of the BMW 1 Series M or shortly named, the BMW M1. This is a rendering made by a specialist. Anyway, I made this article because we have more details about it so I will start by saying that it will have new aerodynamics from the front to the back.

This BMW 1 Series M will be modified very much at the front to have a muscular look also making it much aerodynamic. In front of the wheels there are some air intakes to cool the six piston brakes.

Also, the BMW Active Aerodynamics system will be installed on this BMW 1 Series M also upgrading the aerodynamics of the car. There will be a wider rear spoiler, larger wheel arches and a carbon fiber roof. After seeing all of these new updates, I think that the principal upgrade is the aerodynamics of the car.
