2017 BMW 5-Series Spied on Track
The BMW German based carmaker is currently working on the second-generation BMW 5-Series, as the model was recently caught on shots on Nurburgring, while performing some final tests. The model is all wrapped in camouflage which means that it will come with some interesting body style changes.
Talking about body style and chassis, the 2017 BMW 5-Series will be innovative in its architecture as it will stand on the company`s newest 35up platform, the same which will also underpin other BMW models, starting with the 3-Series and going up all the way.
But what it is mostly interesting about the BMW 5-Series is that it will be manufactured entirely from lightweight components, which is the politics concerning the 35up platform, meaning the fitting of the carbon fiber, and aluminum components, the same that are used on the BMW i3 and BMW i8.
Surely, along with these composites being used on the model, it is pretty obvious that one can observe the weight being shed along with a performance and the fuel-efficiency increase. Thus, the upcoming 5-Series would reach a total of less than 3,300 pounds.
Under the hood, the 2017 BMW 5-Series is expected to come with a wide array of turbocharged four-, six- as well as eight-cylinder engines, equipped with direct-injection technology. And as expected, a plug-in hybrid version will also emerge in 2016.
