BMW`s bike special division Motorrad recently launched the latest R nineT Sport in the United Kingdom, the new motorcycle being available on the market starting the 6th of February.

In the United Kingdom, the R nineT Sport will have a price of just 12,990 GBP and what you buy for that money is more than common sense.

What would you say about a high-performance Akrapovic exhaust system mounted on this exquisite bike? Sounds good, right? But there are more to come with the exhaust system.

The R nineT Sport can also be had with the brushed aluminum tank, available in two configurations. On the other hand, the motorcycle will miss the rear foot pegs or the rear passenger seat, otherwise seen on other R nine models.

Surely, the United Kingdom market is considered to be a testing one for the moment, but if proven successful, BMW Motorrad will expand the bike`s production on other markets as well, with the US to be the first market in mind.

Unfortunately, the performance figures are rather scarce at this point, but fresh details will be launched in the upcoming period.

Playing the sales games is something that BMW is clearly apt at but it’s also something they’re ready to share information about.

Within their company at least, things seem to be passed about. The corporate folks have just released some information on what their motorcycle division should do.

Knowing all this stuff, BMW Motorrad posted some clearly capable results with 2012 having gone out the window. December in particular was a success.

That’s not to say that the rest of the year was shoddy but it seems highly unlikely that a season reserved for cold and snow sells a lot of bikes.

Compared to December 2011, there was a 43.4% sales increase last month. Now that’s not something to sniff at, even if you’re BMW.

When analyzing the entire year from a global perspective, a growth factor of 2% remains. That translates into a record setting 106.358 motorcycles and maxi scooters sold.
The Husqvarna division also did brilliantly as it managed to up its game by 15.7% compared to what they have on record for 2011.

A few models did stand out among the two-wheeled runners of the company, these are the R1200GS, the F800GS and the S1000RR.

The F800GS was always a steady seller and the R1200GS’ air-cooled has sent into the garages of a lot of new owners.

Next year it’s going for liquid cooling so it might attract even more enthusiasts. Speaking of which, the S1000RR surprised by managing nearly 9000 units.

That really is remarkably, given the fact that we’re talking about a superbike that really loves hitting track days above anything else.

Sometimes, linking things between and making for lovable segways in between stories happens by itself. We just saw what the near future holds for BMW, but what about the distant past?

As it happens, some 90 years ago, BMW set up their motorcycle manufacturing shop, the outfit we now know as the Motorrad division.

Unless you’re living the life as a turtle, you’ll easily acknowledge that what we’re talking about is a long time.

Having survived for this long, BMW’s motorcycle division wants to celebrate the occasion. They will do so by creating a new two-wheeler.

Having spoken at the EICMA international motorcycle show in Milan, Stephan Schaller, BMW Motorrad President announced a new bike.

It’s to be a retro piece of technology which is a tribute to the original BMW motorcycle, the 1923 R 32 model. The teaser image we have of the new product is just dripping nostalgia.

We’re going to see an air cooled boxer engine powered motorcycle with on of the meanest looks you could imagine on a BMW.

There are few opportunities to go away with the retro ideas and possibly make a flop but if the Rolls Royce and Mini experience have thought us anything is that BMW does retro brilliantly.

Just like in those cases, customers will enjoy the retro look but also get the benefit of high tech innovation. This should be an interesting one to follow-up on.

In the meantime it’s just happy birthday BMW Motrrad and we can’t wait for you to hit the century of existence celebration bit.

I know we’re all fans of the BMW cars but out in the motorcycling community the Bavarians have an equally impressive following.

After the S1000RR they’ve just unveiled the new HP4. The two have many similarities but there’s one key difference.

The different look of the BMW HP4 illustrates more than a redesign. It’s there to showoff what the Motorrad division can do.

Design-wise the bike looks fine, what is important is the diet it’s been subjected to. The BMW HP4 now weighs in at 169 kg (373 lbs) dry.

Once it gets filled with fluids and the tank has 90% capacity the final figure goes up to 199 kg (440 lbs).

At this point we should remember the fact that the BMW HP4 is now the lightest 4 cylinder bike in the 1000cc class and it still develops the same performance.

The peak output stands at 193 horsepower but, as with track tuned options, the mid-range torque gets a linear boost and a racing developed ABS.

The BMW HP4 will be market ready later this year, ready to achieve its full super sports bike potential be it on the road or on the track.

Currently, no pricing range is available but there seems to be a bit of a consensus around here. This will be getting a considerable boost compared to the regular S1000RR.

As a market proposition the new HP4 motorcycle could be quite impressive but the race track is where it’s likely to make a difference and give the Bavarians a try at the title this time.

Bulgarian tuner Vilner are starting to get the hang of messing around with BMW products. They may be one of the newest tuners around, but that doesn’t seem to phase them.

The latest project they got involved with is one of the less familiar BMW products, the F800R motorcycle. The name of the new kit is quite familiar though.

It’s called the Predator which seems justified since it gets a makeover about as aggressive as the alien warrior that used to hunt down Arnie.

Other than making the BMW F800R more of a mean looking bike, they’ve also made it less practical, for the full bad boy effect.

Vilner have shortened the bike by 25 cm (roughly 10 inches) and turned into a single seater one. The seat was swapped out for a wider one.

Even though the number of passengers handled by the Vilner BMW F800R has gone down, it should actually be more comfortable.

That’s something that makes sense since Vilner designed the F800R Predator for a Russian business man who happens to be living in their home country.

He’s the one who wanted the new carbon fiber and chrome plated look and he’s the one who specified the newly designed front end.

Taste and practicality aside, it’s almost heart warming to see young car tuners tackle new projects that really stretches their imagination.

The only thing missing from the Predator BMW F800R is an updated engine output, that still stands at the factory spec 87 horsepower.

Here’s an unhappy incident for both involved parties. BMW is being sued by a motorbike rider and things are looking pretty bad for either of them.

The report came in through USA Today. They’ve gotten down to a very interesting case that’s soon to be disputed in a California court.

What it boils down to is that both BMW and Corbin, makers of the bike seat that’s involved in the discussion, for a very unusual sort of injury and emotional distress.

Henry Wolf, the plaintiff, had a long ride on a 1993 BMW motorcycle, it kept him busy for four hours and at the end things didn’t look too pretty.

The man had contracted a severe case of priapism. For those unaware of the condition, that’s a very long lasting erection.

It sounds like a great way to advertise against Viagra but that’s hardly the case. Priapism is a condition that simply gives you the bad side of an erection.

Discomfort and, weirdly, a disability to engage in any sexual activity were the order of the day for the unlucky bike rider.

Here’s where the shock really begins to kick in. The bike ride that gave Wolf the priapism took place in September 2010.

Imagine having to live with an erection for 20 months and not being able to enjoy it, on the contrary, being given nothing but pain and an enormous amount of time and money spent in hospitals.

This is where the lawsuit comes in, the plaintiff is suing for compensation of all his lost money, plus a yet to be disclosed amount worth of emotional damage.

Nor BMW or Corbin have made any statements on the impending lawsuit.

Here is another cool video from BMW that I am going to talk about and I hope you also like this video as much as I do. I like the fact that it is made with that “BMW smell” or probably because of the professionalism that they proved by making this cool video.

Anyway, in this video, the professionalism is not the single thing that they are proving, they also prove the performances of BMW S1000RR. I mean think about it, how cool can be the sprint of this motorcycle from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds? This video really shows us that acceleration.

You should know that those performances are not the only things making this motorcycle so powerful and also so fast. This BMW S1000RR is also able to develop up to 193 horsepower and for such a small vehicle, it is a lot of power.

Anyway, I bet that you will never have the chance to see such a thing in reality and not even to a small speed of the valves. Yes, in that video you can see the titanium valves of the BMW S1000RR motorcycle working at an amazing speed of 14,200 RPM.

I must say that I remained stunned after seeing this video, is like I wished something and now I really got the chance to see it exactly how it happens in reality so I hope your curiosity was also satisfied as mine or better.

I think these types of motorcycles are not fitting in this background or better said on the roads where you can really feel the winter. These types of motorcycles are made to roll on big speeds on really good roads and the roads where is a lot of snow these motorcycles are just not good enough for that.

Anyway, these guys are not so stupid to take these motorcycles just like this on snowed roads, they took some normal tires for this BMW S1000RR motorcycle and they spiked them so that they will have no problems with them on that type of road.

Excepting the thing that this BMW S1000RR with spiked wheels can have some really normal performances on snowed roads, this type of tires are also giving to this BMW S1000RR a much more aggressive look. I guess that the funniest thing to see at this BMW S1000RR with spiked tires is while it is making burnouts.
