The German based Mint Classics dealer is well-known for its collection of the rarest and most legendary sports cars ever built and recently, the dealer announced the selling of the 1981 BMW M1.

The 1981 BMW M1 is a rare and iconic BMW model and must be treated as such, the M1 being built in just three vehicles, wearing the astonishing Polaris Silver exterior color.

And since it is so rare, Mint Classics is asking a whopping $965,000, the dealer stating that this specific model is “probably the most special BMW M1 street car on the market today.” And that for a good reason, since is comes with only 17,500 km, the model being also in a pristine condition.

Apart this special BMW M1 coming in Silver Polaris paint, the second one out of three was especially built for Bernard Charles Ecclestone aka Bernie Ecclestone, a famous former F1 driver who now holds around 25% of the Formula 1`s commercial rights.

With the 1M Coupe left on the side of the road, the BMW German based carmaker is preparing the long-rumored M2 for a special unveiling, at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

After its official launch in Germany, the BMW M2 will start production in November 2015, with the model to reach its dealerships somewhere at the beginning of 2016.

Taking a look at the photos, there are little features to connect the M2 with the late M1, the first one coming with its own personality, in terms of visuals.

We are talking about a one-of-a-kind body style, with revised front and rear bumpers, front wings, boot lid, the 19-inch M wheels, or some carbon fiber components, which make the sports car lighter.

So far so good, and moving under the hood, the BMW M2 will also bring some new performance, as the 3.0-liter N55 TwinPower unit has now received 370 horsepower, hooked to a manual or an automatic transmission.

The power should be enough for the sports car to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, making it 0.5 faster with the DCT, compared to the 1M Coupe.

A one of a kind BMW M1 was recently the work of art of the famous Andy Warhol, who managed to paint this exclusive model and display it at the BMW`s Art exhibit.

We are talking about a BMW E26 M1 model, a rare car that managed to be one of the mode iconic and legendary BMWs in the history of the company between 1978 and 1981.

The BMW M1 was the “Giugiaro designed monster” which could face the top turbocharged versions with massive 850 horsepower, churned out from a six-engine.

The BMW M1 was also that one-off racing car which Niki Lauda used on the tracks, when squeezing the 273 horsepower out of it, from a mid-engined and a top speed of 260 km/h.

The 2016 BMW M2 is ending up in our news again, this time with some new information released by Auto Bild, stating that the sports car will come with a higher performance than originally believed.

According to Auto Bild, the 2016 M2 is worthy of being the successor of the M1 model, which has been built in around 5,000 units.

The 2016 BMW M2 is taking its power from a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder TwinPower Turbo N55 unit, which has now been upgraded.

The new powertrain develops 374 horsepower and a good 520 Nm of torque, hooked to a 6-speed manual transmission, or an optional 7-speed automatic dual clutch M DCT.

The 2016 BMW M2 will be more expensive than the present M235i Coupe, meaning 43,750 euros in Germany.

The future M2 sports car will be launched at the end of 2015, with more details to be launched in the near future.

It seems that BMW fans with a lot of money now have the chance to grab a very rare piece of BMW history in the form of a 1981 BMW M1.

While this car isn’t really common occurrence on any road, this makes the second one this year to come on the market.

The BMW M1 is to date the only supercar BMW ever built, and as such, it is held in high regard by car enthusiasts worldwide. This particular unit comes with a price tag of $499.000. That is almost half a million dollars. This is a lot of money even for an M1.

The last unit that came on the market only went for $312.000, and that was a limited edition version. This one is pretty much standard, and it even has 12482 miles on the odometer. The owner does say the BMW M1 is in top shape, and it might as well be true, but the price is still a bit steep.

As previously rumored, it is now official that the BMW German based automaker will manufacture a new green supercar, which will be the i8`s sibling, the M1 sportscar.

The BMW M1 will use the same technology already used on the i8 supercar and is supposed to hit the market in a couple of years.

Even if there is now official statement so far, it is believed that the BMW M1 will be much more powerful than the i8, meaning that the supercar will get an upgraded 4.4-liter TwinTurbo Power V8, which will develop somewhere between 600 HP and 650 HP, backed by an electric motor with no details so far.

With this amount of power, it is more than sure that the BMW will compete with the upcoming Lamborghini Huracan, the Ferrari 458 Italia and even the McLaren 650S.

The details list with the BMW M1 are for the moment limited, but we should expect soon an official report from BMW.

The present BMW i8 supercar is powered by 1.5-liter three-cylinder unit, backed by a hybrid synchronous motor, outputting a total of 357 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque.

Today, BMW M Division is a very respected part of the German car maker, and every M Bimmer is held in high regard.

But before BMW’s M models became know for their performance, there was one very special vehicle that might cause confusion for some.

Called the BMW M1, it has nothing to do with today’s M version of the 1 Series. When it was first produced back in 1978, the M1 was a formidable feat of engineering. And it had to be, as this was the brainchild of both BMW and Lamborghini, with the Italian’s manufacturer’s influence visible.

BMW only built 456 units, making this a rare machine, and the only production Bimmer with a mid-mounted engine. Between the 4th and 6th of September, they will be displaying one of the first units to drive off the assembly line.

A while back BMW decided to build a competitor for the supercars that where the dream of every young boy.

Out of the project the BMW M1 was born, the only supercar constructed by the German car maker. And although it didn’t get quite as big as the Lamborghini, it has earned its place in automotive history.

Only 456 units of the BMW M1 were ever built, of which only 399 being street legal, with the other 57 coming out the assembly line prepped for racing. The M1 was built from 1978 to 1981 and it was a beast on the road, worthy to take on the supercars of the day.

A model from 1980 was just announced on the RMAuctions, and for anyone willing to take home some history, better be prepared to pay over 150.000 USD (the starting price). Painted a very nice Henna Red, the BMW M1 is powered by a 3.5 liter 6 cylinder engine. Mounted in the mid, the engine features the Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection system and is able to produce 277 HP. It might not seem much for today’s standards, but back then, it was more than enough.

Bonhams is one of the largest auction houses these days being founded in 1793 and holding a lot of unique events from art auctions to rare vehicles or jewelry. At this year’s edition of the Quail Lodge auction held in Carmel, California, a special and very rare Bavarian model will be put on auction and lastly will make a BMW fan happier.

More exactly, we talk about a 1979 BMW M1 Art Car, a model painted by Frank Stella, actually a unique vehicle considering that it was the only model from a total of 16 units manufactured by an authorized artist. Initially made for a private client, the German model is now ready to be put on auction, the people from Bonhams estimating that the final price will spin around $450,000.

Reviewing the model’s history, we know that it was commissioned by Peter Gregg in 1979, the people from BMW Motorsport GmbH taking care of the manufacturing process. Few years later, namely in 1999, the special M1 Art Car has been relocated Guggenheim Museum located in Manhattan, New York.

For more than 12 years, the German vehicle could be seen at the American museum but without doubt, on August 18th, it will meet its new owner. Another interesting fact is that around 500 units bearing the M1 badge were built between 1978 and 1981, therefore, the one-off M1 Art Car is truly a unique masterpiece and deserves all the attention.

The model in question is also one of the first art cars developed by the Germans from BMW as this tradition started just four years before Frank Stella designed the BMW M1 Art Car. Alexander Calder was the first to design and paint an art car for BMW, in 1975, for the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

If you are worried that the BMW M1 Art Car won’t be seen anymore after it will be sold, then, you have to know that the model is currently displayed at the IBM Building in New York at 56th Street and Madison Avenue. However, it is hard to think that the future owner will keep such a beautiful model in the garage.

As a conclusion, if you are a big fan of the BMW unique art cars and you live nearby California, then you have to mark the calendar and if you are not interested in buying anything you can simply admire the German model before it reaches the new owner.

The news of the regarding the new M version of the BMW 1 Series Coupe have been flying around the Intertnet for some time because it is a very hot topic and every new information, photo or rumor is precious. And, unfortunately, the latest piece of news doesn’t bring too much hope for many people that would want to own one. Read more bellow.

Until we get to the meat of the subject, let us bring together the info we have until now, in case you missed the previous news. We know that the BMW 1 Series M Coupe will only be available with a manual transmission, to preserve the old school feeling. It will also have a N54 engine sporting 335 hp and three colors to choose from: Jet Black, Alpine White and Valencia Orange.

Now, the latest piece of news flying around on the Internet boards is the rumor that the 1 Series M Coupe will be limited to only 2,700 units. A large part of these cars will be heading to the United States, so those living there shouldn’t worry too much, at least not compared with the rest of the world.
