BMW M2 Cabrio Launched in New Rendering
Famous rendering artist Theophilus Chin has recently launched two interesting renderings with the 2016 BMW M2 Coupe wearing a convertible body style and now, it is time to see it in a new one signed by another well-known artist, X-Tomi Design.
The rendering is showcasing the BMW M2 Cabrio with the same design cues and interior as the coupe, while the powertrain under the hood will pack the same one used on its sibling.
However, in case it will come out, this version will be less powerful, due to the extra reinforcement components on the chassis, to compensate the lack of aerodynamics caused by the soft-top. This also means that it will be a little heavier, too.
Under the hood, we might expect the 3.0-liter flat-six inline TwinPower Turbo unit, with 370 horsepower and 465 Nm of torque but with less performance figures.
On the other hand, the 2016 BMW M2 Coupe is packing the same engine, hooked to a six-speed manual and a nine-speed M DCT gear. With the manual transmission, the model is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, while the M DCT is a little bit faster, with 4.3 seconds.
The BMW M2 Coupe is the predecessor of the iconic BMW 1M Coupe and the later model didn’t come with a convertible version. So it is pretty obvious that an M2 Convertible is unlikely to be produced.
