BMW X2 Is Coming Soon

There were a lot of rumors, reports and debates concerning the arrival of a new model which will complete the entire X lineup, in the shape of the upcoming X2 crossover. But the news were confirmed by a recent report revealed by Autocar a couple of days ago, which spoke to an insider from BMW.

The upcoming BMW X2 will resemble the X4 as well as the X6 from a visual standpoint, with the crossover underpinning the X1 platform and coming with a sloping roofline. The same insider from BMW also told Autocar that the engineers are on the verge of finishing the “first prototypes” and “should be in action by the end of the month”.

The BMW X2 will come with a five-door body style, meaning that it will sit between the X4 and X6 with its sloping roofline. Inside, the model will also share some similarities with the X1, while the engine lineup will be borrowed from the same X1.

This means that the BMW X2 will underpin the three- and four-cylinder turbo engines, with around 300 horsepower, which will provide a more fuel-efficiency, ready thus to compete against the Audi RS Q3 or the Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG. The engines will be hooked to a six-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission, which will deliver the power to the rear wheels. An all-wheel drive version is also expected. So far, we do not have the performance figures, but we should find out more later on.
