Read Time:1 Minute, 29 Second

After MINI sent the third-generation Clubman out for some tests, it was now the MINI Convertible`s turn to be taken out for a spin, before making its official debut somewhere next year. As seen in the spy shots, the 2016 MINI Convertible will not bring some new elements at the body, but some reports have announced a lot of interesting and fresh high-tech gizmos inside.

We might be talking here about the new MINI Controller dial which will be located near the gear stick, giving the driver the possibility of controlling the infotainment options easier, while the instrument cluster is also fitted behind the steering wheel. On top of that, a head-up display, a collision and pedestrian warning system, or the backup camera, will also be available on the model.

Other than that, the 2016 MINI Convertible will be standing on the company`s UKL platform, meaning more space inside for both passengers and luggage.

In terms of performance, the 2016 MINI Convertible is reported to come with the same engine lineup seen on the Cooper Hardtop, meaning the 1.5-liter three-cylinder unit, or the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which goes 189 horsepower and 206 lb-ft of torque.

The MINI Carmaker has announced a series of changes concerning its fleet, meaning that the entire lineup will be reduced to a handful of models, like the future Clubman or the new Countryman crossover, which will be the official replacer of the MINI Coupe and Roadster.
