BMW has started the year with the right feel and attitude, managing some significant sales growth compared to last year`s same period, and on top of that, it is also planning the introduction of new models that will come with cutting-edge technology.

Even so, the carmaker has also got the time to look into its own yard and take care of its high-end models, as it recently welcomed back home the gorgeous BMW G30 5-Series, the model being displayed at the carmaker`s showroom in Welt, Munich.

Tourists and BMW purists touring Welt this period will definitely find the inspiration and the mood to visit BMW`s showroom, and admire the latest 5-Series variants currently of display – the BMW 540i with the M Sport package as well as the 530d, each one coming with exquisite features and the best attitude.

The BMW 540i is highlighted here with the gorgeous Bluestone metallic exterior, highlighted by the M parts and 19-inch alloy wheels. In the engine department, the model comes with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine with 340 horsepower.

On the other hand, the 530d with the Luxury trim comes with a Blue metallic body wrap, adaptive LED headlights and plenty of high-tech gadgetries inside, including the famous semi-autonomous technology, also found on the 540i as well. Under the hood, this variant comes with a six-cylinder inline diesel pot, good for 265 horsepower and 620 Nm of torque.

As a reminder, BMW officially announced the all-new 2017 BMW 5-Series range last year in October, the entire lineup coming with plenty of variants to be presented to the public starting as following:

February – the introduction of BMW 530i/BMW 530i xDrive, BMW 540i/BMW 540i xDrive, BMW 520d/BMW 520d xDrive, and BMW 530d/BMW 530d xDrive.

March – the introduction of BMW 530e iPerformance, BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition, as well as the BMW M550i xDrive.

Even if the upcoming F90 BMW M5 has been already rumored, shot down in different areas in the United States or Europe`s Nurburgring, we have our own exclusive shots with the model while undergoing tests on Autobahn, just outside Munich.

The exclusive spy photos were sent by one of our fine readers who happens to love the model so bad that he promised he would sent new samples with the model. And so he did.

The spy photos were taken yesterday (November 16, 2016) and are showcasing the upcoming 2018 F90 BMW M5 sedan wearing the same camouflage around the body, which clearly indicates that the model is far from its final shape. Even so, we can depict the new styling bits that it will come with.

From the start, the model promises to be beautiful…actually more beautiful and appealing than ever, with its exquisite curves and sporty touches from top to bottom. More than that, it will borrow an aggressive look from the newly unveiled G30 5-Series and add its own M parts, only that it will be more powerful under the hood.

In terms of styling, the car`s main highlights refer to the new kidney grille and LED headlights, sporty hood, aero flicks on the front of the wheel arches, while the rear-end stands-out from the crowd with the twin double pipes and flared wheel-arches.

The exterior design also indicates that the model is going to be extremely powerful, especially the rear end, with the sports exhaust system with butterfly valves opening up. Even if unconfirmed, there are plenty of reports to give us an insight on the car`s powertrain.

So, we might think of a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which is the same found on the 550i, but with indication of a new power configuration. Let`s say somewhere between 600 and 650 horsepower, paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, being sent to the rear axle via an Active M Differential. On top of that, the model will also get an xDrive all-wheel sibling, which would compete against the newcomer W213 Mercedes-AMG E63.

Presuming heading to the 2017 Geneva Motor Show for an official debut, the all-new 2018 F90 BMW M5 will be competing against the likes from the aforementioned AMG E63 or the new Porsche Panamera. As for the prices, the model is said to come with a tag of at least €150,000, if you decide to have it with optional goodies, like carbon fiber roof, trunk or ceramic brakes. BMW launched the BMW X2 Concept at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, which is said to spawn the future generation of the X2 SUV, recently spied on shots while undergoing tests outside Munich.

As we can depict from the spy photos, the test-mule is wearing less camouflage around the body which allows for a deeper-in analyses concerning the design it will come with.

As expected, it will wear the overall look of the X2 Concept, yet it will also come with its own looks that will bring it closer to the X1.

The prototype reveals the much wider body style with large kidney grille and air intakes, revised headlights, upper bumper-mounted fog lamps, new taillights, all of them increasing the SUV`s aggressive look.

Inside, the cabin will also borrow some design lines from the present X1 but will share however the technology envisioned in the Concept. Other element make reference to the 2-Series Active Tourer as well. Amongst the top features we should mention the BMW`s ConnectedDrive system, head-up display, plethora of gadgetry and applications, adding the finest materials all around the cabin and so forth.

In the engine department, the all-new BMW X2 SUV will come with a wide range of gasoline burners and diesels, with front- and all-wheel drive configuration. Once it will emerge on the market, the new SUV will take on the likes of the new Audi Q3, Range Rover Evoque or the Mercedes-Benz GLA. With all the fuss revolving around BMW`s new planning of new plug-in hybrid versions, it was just a matter of time until MINI subsidiary would also create its first plug-in hybrid model. And below, we have the chance of previewing in a premiere the British carmaker`s first plugger, the model coming with low fuel-consumption and CO2 emissions.

The MINI Plug-in Hybrid was recently previewed at a special event in Munich, Germany, by two important figures responsible for the creation of the model: Sebastian Mackensen, brand manager, as well as Peter Wolf, Head of MINI series management.

Mackensen started the car`s presentation stating that the MINI Plug-in Hybrid is the perfect hybrid version for the company to start convincing “MINI customers of the benefits of hybrid drive”, and also impressing “everyone who already has hybrid driving experience with MINI`s unique go-kart driving feel”.

Also, both CEOs agreed that the MINI`s first plug-in hybrid is a fun driving car “with zero tailpipes emissions”, as it features a combustion engine and an electric motor, with zero emissions for about 20 miles. This is possible thanks to the new technology that allows the engine to take over when the batteries will have been completely drained. This is actually the same technology that BMW is using on its current i8 plug-in hybrid.

Besides the low CO2 emissions, the MINI Plug-in Hybrid is also capable to deliver impressive acceleration, and that thanks to the electric motor`s good torque. Also, in the AUTO eDrive mode, the plug-in hybrid`s high-voltage battery pack found beneath the rear seats, can achieve speeds up to 50 mph, while in the MAX eDrive mode, the speeds can increase up to 75 mph. The carmaker will announce full details on the MINI plug-in Hybrid later on this year.

The BMW 3-Series is indeed considered one of the most iconic BMW models to be released from the production line in Munich, Germany. And now the gorgeous 3-Series Sedan is celebrating the 10th million vehicle to be rolled out of the assembly line.

Hermann Bohrer, CEO at BMW Group stated in a recent press release that “The success story of the BMW 3 Series started here in Plant Munich and is now reaching a very special highpoint here as well. The fact that this landmark vehicle was produced at our plant is a particular honor for us and makes me very proud indeed of my team”.

The BMW 3-Series Sedan has reached its sixth-generation, the model now facing a new body design, with LED taillights and headlights, updated air intakes and apron, a wide choice of exterior colors and new technology inside, like the head-up display, Navigation professional system, Internet, Bluetooth connectivity and much more.

In the engine department, the new BMW 3-Series Sedan is packing a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder unit, with 190 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds, at a topping of 235 km/h.

The BMW has recently confirmed the existence and the upcoming of the new BMW X1 model, as the SAV has been recently caught on shots while cruising the streets of Munich, and wearing heavy camouflage on the body. This would be the first clue that the SAV is ready to be unveiled in just a few months.

The spy shots were provided by photographer Christian Wimmer. Even if the new BMW X1 SAV is all wrapped in camouflage, the design cues can be well distinguished, the model coming with a new body language, reworked body and a much sportier stance and attitude.

Apart from the design, the BMW X1 SAV will be also using a front-wheel drive platform, following thus other famous models from BMW, while inside the model will receive some standard features, also seen on the present model, but it will also fit the latest technological features, which will make it stand out from the crowd.

So far, this is all we have about the new BMW X1, but it will surely make a good impression, once it will be unveiled in a couple of months. But rest assure that more will be revealed in the upcoming period, as BMW has made a habit out of teasing us with its upcoming models.

Feeling is on of our most important senses. When it comes driving, it’s obvious that BMW know how to deliver it. Nobody can deny that.

Not that they were ahead in the discussion they decided to leapfrog the opposition on another field when it comes to feel.

BMW’s Munich Museum announced that they will be allowing visitors to actually touch the exhibits and thus get a real feel of the shapes and quality of the aged cars they have there.

Apart from being a premiere in the history of automotive archiving, it’s also a first for any Museum to do so. The Bavarians must have thought things through properly.

With this decision they’ve either opened the floodgates for some interesting decisions at other Museums centered around cars and military hardware or Pandora’s box.

Since the experience is bound to be for feel and not usage, there is a bit of a condition you are imposed before BMW will allow you to touch their classics.

You’ll have to wear gloves. In fact, that’s the name of the new event altogether: Night of the White Gloves.

It’s not about to be a permanent decision but it’s starting to become a tradition at the Munich Museum which is running for the fifth edition.

The admission at the special night is 5 euros and the gloves are provided by the host. There’s another interesting nugget in here.

The schedule sees BMW’s Night of White Gloves start at 7 pm on November 23 and last until midnight. Isn’t it a pretty coincidence to wear white gloves on Black Friday?

While most of us are worried interested in the BMW i8 production version, somebody within the company decided to show interest in something a little more fun with the concept.

With a little imagination, a lot of work and a considerable sponsorship cheque being signed by BMW the toy company’s events.

The BMW i8 Concept replica was built as part of the LEGO Kids Fest event and will stay on display for a few days.

Unlike most such cases, the display of the oversized toy will not be in one of the LEGO Kids Fest locations or even at the toy maker’s headquarters.

The Danish company got together with the Bavarians and agreed that this special life-size replica of the BMW i8 Concept should be put in display at their home base in Munich.

After all, the show that gathered all the bricks and kids to build it actually took place in the fabled city of our favorite manufacturer.

Moving the BMW i8 Concept LEGO replica was certainly not that bi an issue. Though it is a funny little toy and resembles the real deal, I’m not very impressed.

It’s not because the time or money spent here would best be used actually developing the car and bringing it to the market quicker but because I don’t think it’s that good looking.

Obviously there are some limitations dictated by materials and unqualified builders but I reckon a smaller model could have looked slightly better.

It seems like BMW have adopted an admirable attitude about the future of the new 2012 3 Series. They’ve talked about it long enough, they might as well get down to making it.

With that in mind, note that the Bavarian company’s Munich plant flipped the ON switch the production line that will roll out brand new F30 3 Series.

The plant received a considerable investment in order to be ready to push out the F30 BMW 3 Series the company hopes to, and probably will, sell in enormous numbers.

Some serious cash flow went into the Munich plant and when the books were done, a total of more than 700 million dollars had been credited to this upgrade.

This expansion pushes the plant up to around 700.000 square feet of “live” floor space as it spreads over five floors of height.

The end result is around 9000 new jobs and the ability to make around 680 units of the F30 BMW 3 Series each day at the moment, eventually going up to as much as 900 units.

Those figures are most likely to be justified as the Munich plant will be the main facility the Bavarians will use to manufacture the 2012 BMW 3 Series.

A highlight of this plant will be a new enormous press that can 600 tons of steel per day, enough to cover for all the F30 BMW 3 Series units and a wide range of engines that’ll be made there, including the stuff the M Division uses and the Rolls Royce powerplants.

Tom Ford, renown British motoring journalist and TV presenter managed to achieve a record breaking run in terms of vehicle autonomy by managing a 1013 mile trip on a single tank of diesel.

The car he used for this feat was a BMW E90 320d and the journey was destined to take Tom Ford from the UK to Munich and back, but unfortunately the car needed a refill back at Lille.

The fact that he didn’t manage to complete the trip is a bit disappointing but this is still an amazing achievement by distance in itself.

There’s more too, Tom Ford stated that he did not use the air conditioning but he also didn’t do a completely economical run using techniques such as coasting, or driving deliberately slowly for the trip. The trip was covered in yesterday’s Sunday Times newspaper.

BMW can be proud and owners of the E90 320d who must have known the car was capable of such range. Biggest reason for the good news is that the car achieved figures of 75.9 mpg UK (63.2 mpg US or 3.7lt/100km), and never went below 65 mpg UK (54.1 mpg US or 4.4 lt/100km) for the entire trip. The overall figures for Tom Ford and the BMW 320d come in at an average speed of 59.3mph (95.4km/h) and 68.9mpg UK (57.4 mpg US or 4.1 lt/100km).

All things considered, if you’re a bit less careful you should be able to achieve at least 700-800 miles on one tank which would easily cover a medium sized commute for a month on a single tank.
