With BMW vastly expanding their car lineup and adding completely new types of cars to the list, this year proved to be quite fruitful for the manufacturer.

August is a record holder considering BMW sales, as were a couple other months this year.

The magic number of cars which the German car maker managed to sell in August was a whooping 145.902 units. By comparison, August of 2013 only managed to sell 139.650 units, which is quite the difference. The relatively new Chinese market took a big chunk of that sales, making the Asia the best selling region for BMW.

This is the first time this is happening, but somehow it doesn’t seem that surprising. According to the press release, sales are still growing, and BMW officials are quite confident that they will manage to break the 2 million units sold in 2014. I have a feeling this will indeed happen, even if the end of the year is closing in.

Recalls are not that uncommon nowadays, with various manufacturers either forced or from their own volition trying their best to fix the mistakes that find their way in.

BMW recently had to recall some models, or rather to expand an older recall.

The issue is related to the airbag system, and the models that were added to the recall list are the BMW i3 and the 2014 Mini Cooper. While any kind of issue with the airbag system can be considered an extra risk of injury in the case of an accident, if we were to get down to it, the issue is with the airbag inflator.

Luckily, the total number of models that were added to the recall is just 27 units, which is one the smallest recall numbers i have seen in a while. These include the BMW i3 units built on March 31st and the Mini Cooper units built from February 2nd to May 30th.

While WWII is not something Germans like to remember, fact remains that the European country has a lot to be proud of from that era (at least technology-wise).

Most of the war machines that the Nazi Germany produced were far superior to the Ally’s, and today, German cars are still technologically superior to others.

In light of this, a Russian tuner called RTC decided to take an all-German BMW Z4 M and restyle it drawing inspiration from another all-German machine: the Focke-Wulf 190. The attention to detail is astounding, as you can plainly see from the side to side pictures.

Besides the Focke-Wulf paintjob, RTC also bestowed on the BMW Z4 M new Brembo brakes, Lambo doors and a brand new sound system. It is not much of tune, I’d say, but it does something many German tuners are too afraid to try: it celebrates the great machines build during the second world war.

Right now, BMW is enjoying its successful entry on the electric market with two highly acclaimed vehicles, the i3 and i8.

Of the two, the sportier BMW i8 is really a thing to behold, both from a visual and from a performance point of view, for which it also received a lot of good feedback.

And while pretty much most of us would like to get our hands on one, the $100.000 asked for it is a tad prohibitive. Not to mention that getting on a waiting list right now would be something close to a miracle. So, what would be the next best thing if we are set for a BMW i8?

This particular i8 shell just came up on eBay, and if you hurry, you might just be able to grab it for just a fraction of the real thing. Of course, as I stated, it is just a fiberglass shell mounted on a rolling cart, and apart from the headlights and wheels nothing is functional. Still, it would make for a great showpiece anywhere you decide to place it.

We all know that one guy that will constantly talk about his car, brag about even the smallest detail on it and generally be obsessed with it. That is what a true fan is.

Bachir from Lebanon is a BMW fan, and his love for the brand is almost on par with his love for his fiancee Layal.

While visiting the BMW Welt, Bachir decided to talk to the German car maker and organize a very special marriage proposal. Aided by the company, he got into a brand new BMW M3, and using BMW’s intercom system gathered quite a crowd before propping the big question to Layal.

Fortunately, it all went rather well and Bachir promised that a whole bunch of M vehicles will be part of the wedding. The whole thing was a nice way for BMW to give something back to a true fan, and while this is not the only helping hand BMW extended over the years, nor is BMW the only car maker to do this, it does feel nice to know not all big companies are heartless machines.

BMW, and pretty much all premium car makers have made sure to bring the option of configuring a car online.

This is achieved thanks to so called configurators, and the latest from BMW covers the F16 BMW x6.

Launched a couple months ago, the F16 BMW X6 is something different for the X series, as it caters to different people and was build to be a bit more luxurious. When you get online to the configurator and start building your very own X6, you first have to choose from the M Sport or the all new X Line versions of it.

From there a whole range of options become available, from 11 different colors of paint to various inside themes, with the dual color leather options being quite catchy. The best way to see exactly what the cofigurator offers, just check it out online, as this is not something new.

Not too long ago, German car maker BMW presented to the world the Deep Orange 4 concept, a car that has the X3 as a starting base.

The project was developed in collaboration with students from the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research.

While most of the shape was preserved on the X3, at least from the outside, there have been some serious changes to the functionality of its rear half. The Deep Orange 4 concept has a power retractable rear window and a rear taligate that splits open to the sides.

What this does is basically transform the BMW X3 into a pickup truck, albeit not a very good one. In other words, its a compromise. There have been some requests that the manufacturer come up with some pickup trucks, and the call remained unanswered. While we are not sure this will hit assembly lines, if it does, it will up the cost of the X3 by some $8.000 and will come a limited edition.

While the BMW brand has only just introduced its first front wheel drive, the BMW Group as a whole already has plenty of them.

A recent report states that by 2020, up to 40% of the whole sales in the group will be made up by said FWD vehicles.

These figures will come mainly thanks to the UKL platform, which is rumored to underpin up to 12 Bimmers and 10 MINI vehicles. Now this raises a series of other questions, and the most important one has to be: “how many more BMWs will adopt a front wheel drive configuration?”

While that is unknown for now, BMW official did feel it was important to stress the fact that from the 3 Series upwards, front wheel will definitely not be applied. He also stated that the M variants and the M Performance goodies will also be exclusive to the traditional rear wheel drive BMWs.

Many rich and famous people make a habit of collecting cars, either because of a real fondness of cars or simply because they can.

Then there are those that although they love cars and can afford plenty, don’t really buy a lot.

Elvis Presley, beside being know as the king of rock’n’roll, was also a car enthusiast. At least that is what we can gather considering he used to own a BMW 507. Recently, the very same 507 just popped up on the internet, after sitting in a garage for some years.

Built in 1957, the Bimmer has seen better days, and, fortunately, it will again. It was delivered to BMW’s headquarters, which plans to restore the car to fully functional state. Right now, a BMW 507 in relatively good condition will set you back as much as $500.000, and should BMW decide to sell the one owned by Elvis, you can expect ever bigger numbers to be thrown around.

Over the years, Theophilus Chin has provided the internet with quite a lot of renderings of cars, some more feasible than others.

And over the years, one thing has remained constant in his design: he really knows what he’s doing.

This latest of renderings in no different, in execution at least. Presenting us the option of a sedan BMW 1 Series, Theophilus does a good job of making it realistic. But is this just an exercise of imagination or could it really preview a new model?

Chances are that we won’t be seeing this sedan on the road too soon. As you might know, BMW has already expanded their vehicle lineup in order to cover more niches, and from this expansion, models like the 2 Series and 4 series emerged, not to mention the i sub-brand and the BMW-first front wheel drive Active Tourer. So is there any room left for a 1 Series sedan?
