BMW M teases a new X6
BMW has made a rather special announcement these days and it has nothing to do with the recently finished Tokyo Motor Show nor with the recently started Bologna Motor Show.
Even better than either of the events, the Bavarians have a treat for us from their M division and they’ve teased it in the form of a video.
Showing footage of a blurred out X6 driving quickly in just about every speed enthusiast setting desired is great, yet you know you want more.
The movie is entitled “A new chapter powered by M. Step 1” and it even includes a shot of the badge that lies handsomely on the back of this particular X6, only it’s been blurred out as well.
Really, the clip is brilliant, the press release alongside it is non-existent which does put us in a bit of a pickle.
Never mind, we shall manage as we know, just like all BMW fans that this can’t be anything other than the BMW X6 M550d. Basically, an X6 with the engine under the bonnet of the infamous “diesel M5”, the M550dX
This means that what we should expect to see under the bonnet of this video teased X6 is a 3.0 liter straight six engine with three turbochargers pushing out some impressive figures.
Expectations stand at an impressive 381 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.
The M5 would offer you 19 horsepower more nearly 15 years ago but then again, the fuel economy of the E39 M5 wasn’t exactly something to shout about.
Even when lugging around the body of the BMW X6, the new engine should achieve a level of fuel economy that’s remarkably “usual”.
