VIDEO: BMW releases details on the new DriveNow Car Sharing Service
With the purpose to attract extra 1 million customers by 2020, the Germans from BMW decided to create a 50-50 joint venture with a very important car rental company, Sixt. Thanks to the new DriveNow program, you will be able to rent a BMW or Mini vehicle very easy using your smartphone or internet starting April 1st.

This service developed by BMW and Sixt will be available for the beginning in Munich and will involve about 300 Mini and 1 Series vehicles, additional 500 units following to be available shortly in Berlin. Moreover, the Bavarians plan to extend this partnership outside Germany and starting 2013 to make available models within the new i range.
In order to avoid any inconveniences, a special chip will be needed in driver’s licenses, a very interesting part being that you will be able to leave the vehicle in any part of the city when you’re done with it.
The new car sharing venture offered by BMW is simply explained in the following video and it is characterized by the Germans as “unique and innovative”. Until this will confirm, let’s see what BMW planned for the customers.
