Just like the X7, the new-born star from BMW, the X8, will definitely have an M division that would somehow refresh the hardcore segment. And that is because the X8 was seen in numerous spy shots while performing hard tests on the track.

And judging by the way it will look and feel, the X8 M will be a real badass. The recent rendering shows a glimpse of how it might come out towards the end of 2022. Yes, M lovers will have to wait that long, as the regular X8 will only see the sun at the end of 2021.

With the G09 BMW X8 on the track, spy shots revealed an extremely radical-looking SUV, with rough edges at the exterior and advanced technology inside. And that sparked the imagination of rendering artists who pictured the upcoming X8 M as an outrageously looking spaceship with all sorts of weaponry on board.

So, the latest rendering photo reveals the BMW X8 M with an insane and massive body. However, some parts look smaller than the ones from the X7 M. One of them is the kidney grille, which is visibly smaller. The slicker headlights complete the front design and provide a rigid yet imposing feel and attitude. Another striking element is the new M bumper with two large air curtains, while the hood provides a sporty feel, exactly the one found on the M3 or M4 in their latest editions.

As expected, the interior will also be refreshed with M trims and elements, which will differentiate it from the current X7 M. This means full leather upholsteries, new materials, updated digital screens, and much more. Rumors have it, that the X8 M might also gain the OS interface, also found on the X7 M.

The high-end model from the M division will also stand on a new platform and not the same used on the current X7M. This means it will be built from the ground and will allegedly come with a new engine and power.

Speaking of motorizations, reports state the presence of two variants. A base one, with power standing at 617 HP, and a top of the line version with a hybrid powertrain. This might become the first electrified M model in the history of the Bavarian manufacturer. The latter one is part of what we know so far as the “Project Rockstar,” which will give the start of a new electrification era in the M`s agenda. The topper variant of the X8 M will use the same 4.4-liter twin-turbo engine, however, it will work in tandem with an electric motor, for a combined power of 750HP. And if this rumor is confirmed, we will be dealing with the most powerful hybrid car BMW has ever created.

In case you were wondering why putting an old-school M model against a new school…M model…the reason is pretty simple: we want to see how far has the auto industry advanced in terms of technology and sheer performance.

And the best way to find out is putting side-by-side the 2010 BMW M3 GTS and the all-new 2016 BMW M4 GTS. They both use advanced mechanics, increased aerodynamics and impressive powertrains. This is the EVO Magazine`s new test.

Even if there is a visible difference between the two of them, both come with rather similar power and same GTS mechanics. However, they are both so different at the same time. We should try pointing out the best features.

The 2010 was a very busy yet fruitful year for BMW, it was the year when the BMW M3 GTS came out standing on the E92 platform and featuring a massive 4.4-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine, developing 444 horsepower at 8,300 rpm and 324 lb-ft of torque, available at just 3,750 rpm.

On the other hand, the new BMW M4 GTS, which sits on the same platform as the standard M4 – the F82 platform – comes with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo I6 mill, with around 500 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque, available at 6,250 rpm.

The main difference between the two of them, besides the raw power in the M4 GTS, is that the new model comes with improved handling capabilities and grip, and more advanced mechanics – new carbon fiber ceramic brakes and suspension, as well as Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, which pay an extremely important part on the track, particularly on tight corners.

On the other hand, the BMW M3 GTS is not that artistic as the M4 GTS on the road, meaning that you have got to have some skills to keep it balanced on the road, especially at high speeds, as the steering is not that precise as in the M4 GTS. But even with some extra effort in the corners, the M3 GTS remains a fun car to drive.

BMW carmaker has recently released an impressive and interesting video which thoroughly highlights the company`s M Performance Parts division and what it represents for its models, also providing us a quick review of the different models that have received such an exclusivity.

There were lots of latest models to have received the M Performance Parts, with these cars to be highlighted during different recent auto shows.

For instance, the 2017 Detroit Auto Show was the perfect opportunity for BMW carmaker to display lots of models with the Performance Parts. One of the main attraction at BMW`s stand was the 440i Convertible which was showcased with the Individual Smoked Topaz exterior wrap and featuring a plethora of M Performance Parts at the interior as well.

Also, looking back, we could still remember the SEMA Auto Show, the perfect show for tuning companies to release their latest tuning project. BMW was also present with the BMW M2 Safety Car, as well as some specially-prepared models wearing the M`s signature.

These relate to BMW M3s, X5s, as well as an Alpine White 340i with M Performance Parts, adding the BMW Individual 740e xDrive iPerformance, finished in BMW Individual Frozen Black Metallic with M Performance Parts as well.

We are living in a world where pollution and global warming are constantly threatening our lives and the need for more environmentally-friendly vehicles would be our salvation. Luckily, carmakers worldwide are already planning viable solutions which would make our world a safer place.

And with the fast developing electric segment, a lot of auto companies are already improving their latest technology and try to come with more advanced cars. And autonomous driving is that technology that will be slowly but surely implemented in the auto industry.

BMW is also that special carmaker that has pioneered the electric industry with the BMW i3, but the German based carmaker is also planning to implement the technology on its hardcore M division.

We might be looking thus at extremely potent M models all powered-up by electric motors and coming as well with autonomous driving, and that would be indeed interesting to see in the next decade. And the 2016 Paris Motor Show was the perfect opportunity for the carmaker to point out its future plans.

Ian Robertson, BWM AG, has stated in a recent interview that: “BMW is enjoying its most successful period in history, it has got the broadest range of cars, they are sold out around the world and ultimately I see [electrification] technology that can move in both directions here.”

The BMW CEO has also given us another hint, suggesting that the BMW 7-Series would be the perfect model to receive autonomous technology in the future, with other high-end models to follow.

The hybridization process would also begin in small steps, starting with subtle makeovers that would improve the car`s fuel economy and performance. Slowly, each M model will eventually receive an electric version in the next decade.

The most powerful cars out there use a certain feature to put the horses they muster down on the road. It is called a launch control, and it makes life easier driving race cars and even production vehicles.

Traditionally, the German car maker BMW only uses launch control on the special models that get retrofitted by the M Division.

Not anymore. It seems that plans are in motion to install the module on models over the whole range, so far mentioning the 1 Series, 3 Series and 6 Series. There could be several reasons for this, possibly having to do with how the drivers of the respective models behave in traffic, or the evolution of engines power-wise.

Even if you don’t have the upgrade M Division offers, most Bimmers are quite powerful on their own, and from time to time you might want to see how fast you can accelerate from a standstill. Or maybe you fancy taking place in a track day from time to time. Not matter exactly the reason behind the decision, I, personally, can see justification.

BMW’s M Division is always bringing performance upgrades to the German car maker’s already powerful vehicles.

One highly anticipated bimmers is the M2, which will be placed just above the M235i, and many people can hardly wait for it.

Rumors place a upgraded version of the M235i’s engine underneath of the M2’s hood, a 3.0 liter turbocharged six cylinder unit. While the old M235i is good for 320 Hp, it is speculated the new one will take the numbers up to 350 Hp, meaning that in just 4.6 seconds it will hit 100 km/h.

Details are still quite eagerly awaited by enthusiasts, and BMW is quiet about them, but considering they will begin using carbon fiber on a more regular basis, we expect to see a lot of it in the M2 as well. Overall design is set to be aggressive, typical of M Division.

The new BMW M2 is expected to come on stage in 2015, and an estimated price puts it around the 45.000 GBP mark.

BMW has more goodies for the Asian market. This time Malaysia is the one to benefit from the boon coming from the M division of the German car maker.

Not long ago, they got M Performance kits for F30 BMW 350d and 335i for a boost in power under the hood.

Now the 2.0 liter diesel engines also benefit from M Performance kits. The affected models are the 520d and 320d ones, and the power output generated under the hood after the kit was installed is 200 Hp and 420 Nm of torque. That’s a 16 Hp and 40 Nm increase for the 5 and 3 Series.

So, if you want to got 5km/h faster while acceleration to 100 km/h drops half a second, you will have to pay 2.817 USD or 8.513 RM. You also get badges and stickers included in that price. So basically, if you have or plan to buy a BMW 3 or 5 Series with the 2.0 liter diesel engine, you can now up the power with a kit straight from the heart of BMW’s M Division.

One of the most successful models that came out of BMW’s assembly line is the 3 Series. As such, the upgraded version of it from the M division is also in high demand.

Unfortunately, as Friedrich Nitschke (M division head) stated, the current version of the BMW M3 is sold out.

Although the production of this beloved bimmer will continue for about six more months, all units of BMW M3 are spoken for. So if you hankered for one, you’ll just have to wait for the next generation. When the discussion deviated towards the new 3 cylinder engine BMW developed, Nitschke seemed enthusiastic about it, being a viable option to upgrade for the future M BMWs.

The engine is capable of reaching up to 200 Hp on its own, which is pretty good considering the 1.5 liter displacement. With an M version, it could go up to and ever over 310 Hp, so you can see why the 3 cylinder is an attractive engine.

When asked about an all wheel drive system on future BMW M3s, Nitschke pointed out that the cons of installing it really outweigh the pros. For those that still desire an all wheel drive M performance bimmer, the X5 M and X6 M are both good choices.

Could the Christmas party be starting early inside BMW? There’s a decent chance of that being the case or it could actually have been planned out.

I’m not talking about the party but the official release of the brand new BMW M6 Gran Coupe only hours after a couple of shots of the car appeared online.

Alongside the new batch of photos, the Bavarian company released the technical specs on what this sexy four door has to offer.

Under its bonnet lives the S63Tu 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 powerplant that was already used in the M5 sedan and M6 coupe/convertible.

It develops the same 560 horsepower and 501 lb-ft of torque it does in the other M division products but there’s a bit of a surprise behind it.

Due to some work done to do the clever work done between transmission and launch control system, the acceleration time is the same as the M6 Coupe.

It takes the BMW M6 Gran Coupe 4.1 seconds to get from 0-60 mph and the top speed is at an electronically set 155 mph. Getting yourself the optional M Driver’s Package will lift that up to 189 mph.

Fuel consumption is rated at 9.9 lt/100km, 23.8 mpg US or 28.5 mpg UK on the EU cycle and the emissions of CO2 are said to be 232 g/km.

As usual with every M division made over BMW model, a newly shaped aerodynamic body kit is fitted. The cooling and venting of the powerplant and brakes were also improved.

Pricing for the BMW M6 Gran Coupe will come in just under the 170.000 USD mark in Germany. The rest of the world will have to wait for custom pricing.

Swings and roundabouts, highs and lows or even extreme mood changes can describe what’s going on at BMW. They seem to be assaulting us with impressive information on different levels.

Having just heard that there may be some sadness in store as the V12 engine in the 7 Series could disappear, we get some good news from the M Division.

The most interesting side of our favorite brand is currently analyzing the way they could make a new entry-level M Division product.

Currently, the BMW M3 is the first truly M division product that can be labeled as the entry level model of the brand.

Whereas the M135i is coming close, it’s not a fully fledged product and the 1 Series M Coupe was only a limited edition product with quite the perks.

There is a bit of a problem with this news and that’s the fact that the front wheel drive platform would be the one used in this new car.

Since it’s the M Division we’re talking about we could be quite confident about the way the new M Division product will end up being.

Most of the news they’re already printing out sounds quite promising. At the core of the equation we’ll find a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine.

We’ve already seen the N20 engine in plenty of application but none of its derivatives were ever rated around the 300 horsepower mark we’re now being promised.

A familiar shape will be employed since the likeliness is that this new car will be a sedan with variants coming up later.
