The BMW M4 Coupe unveiled last year has made quite an impression thanks to its exquisite language lines and impressive powertrain, being showcased in a lot of drag or sprint races. And today, the BMW M4 Coupe is the star of another video, which puts the German based car next to its challenger, the Lexus RC F, in a sprint race.

Surely, we are not going to reveal which sports car comes with the most impressive acceleration, even if some of you might think that the BMW M4 Coupe must be the absolute winner. But in case you want to find out, let`s take a look at each car`s performance, followed by the video which reveals the real winner.

First off, the BMW M4 Coupe is packing Sedan the famous 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder, also seen on its younger sibling, the BMW M3 Sedan.The unit develops 421 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque, making the car sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, at a top speed of 280 km/h, which could be raised up to 280 km/h if tweaked with the M Driver`s Package.

On the other hand, the Lexus RC F is packing a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 unit, developing 467 horsepower and 389 lb-ft of torque, being sent to the rear wheels, hooked to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The sports car reaches 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, at a topping of 270 km/h. And as opposed to the BMW M4`s 1,572 kg, this particular model stands at 1,765 kg. The 2015 BMW M4 was recently put against the 2015 Lexus RC F in a race track, the event being also presented in a video.

The two rear-drive luxurious coupes were put face to face on the racetrack at the Hyundai`s Proving Ground, where the two models have been engaged into a battle of tire smoking.

If we were to compare the two hot rides, we should start by bragging the 2015 BMW M4 which comes with a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder unit, developing 425 horsepower, between 5,500-7,300 rpm, while the 406 lb-ft of torque is carried between 1,850-5,500 rpm.

The 2015 BMW M4 is 10 kilograms lighter than the V8 predecessor and is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, when hooked to the M-DCT transmission.

On the other hand, the 2015 Lexus RC F is packing a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 unit, developing 467 horsepower and 389 lb-ft of torque, being sent to the rear wheels, hooked to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

There are different reports reaching out the Asian country, according to which the BMW German automaker and the Japanese luxury maker Lexus are working on a new-gen LFA model.

The two rivals are now partnered to set up the forthcoming LFA, but the announcement hasn’t yet been confirmed by the joint ventures.

Thus, the Japanese reports are the only sources to state that the new LFA will be enhanced with the technology also seen on the BMW i8 model, meaning that the model will have a powerful petrol engine backed by an electric motor.

To be a reminder, the Lexus LFA first came with a 4.8-liter V10 unit under the hood, outputting an impressive 560 horsepower at 8,700 rpm along with 480 Nm of torque, at 6,800 rpm.

The Lexus LFA`s power was hooked to a six-speed sequential transmission alongside paddle shifters.

The Lexus LFA has been in production between 2010 and 2012, being sold in just 500 models, the supercar coming with a mid-engine in the front and a rear-wheel drive system assembled in Motomachi, Japan.

There are no other details concerning the performance or the launch of the forthcoming LFA by BMW and Lexus, but new info will be rendered at the moment of its unveil.

It is said that cars with small engines lead to improve fuel economy, but on the other hand, the process itself lead to a serious of problems that might affect the overall car`s engineering.

It is actually the synopsis of a J.D. Power vehicle-dependability study, leading to a serious of statements saying that dependability has severely dropped for the first time in 16 years.

Vehicles to be affected by this phenomenon are less reliable because of the proliferation of their four-cylinder engines.

The problems concern a number of vehicle starting with the 2011 model-year with a rousing of six percent from the year-earlier figures.

The issues are associated with engine hesitation, rough transmission shifting and also lack of power, all subjected to the engines` efforts of struggling for a better fuel economy.

Among the brands of the car, the BMW`s Mini sub-brand was the least reliable, with 185 problems per 100 vehicles for the last year. Then follows the Toyota`s Lexus with 68 problems per 100 vehicles.

The second place is won by Mercedes-Benz with an overall of 133 problems.

It is already old news that BMW is reworking their car line-up for a better differentiation.

Several other car makers also tidy up their production vehicle list, and Lexus is among them.

Recently they had to cut out of the assembly line a car in order to avoid overlapping. But with all the verve the new 4 Series is causing, and its M4 variant as well, Lexus decided it was a good move to plan to take on the German giant, especially considering that they have been tailing BMW for quite a while now.

To this end, a new model, called the RS is planned for a future release. What really seems to be off is that the RC seems to be an IS coupe rebranding, in a similar way the 4 Series is a 3 Series Coupe rebranding. This is more than just copying BMW, though, as the new Lexus RC is a competitor, and should strive to be better. Yet, with hopes running so high for the BMW M4, Lexus will have their work cut out for them.

The recent deal between the Germans at BMW and the Japanese at Toyota on diesel engine concerns is starting to show some detail.

While nothing has really changed within the agreement, a rather interesting clause the Bavarians included started to make some headlines.

Though Toyota will get its chance at new diesel engines without too much worries but their luxury counterpart, Lexus, will not.

It seems like a logical decision. After all, Toyota’s luxury division is a direct competitor of BMW. Why help them, thus shoot yourself in the leg?

BMW’s development chief, Klaus Draege, was the one who officially cleared up the situation on Lexus’ faded diesel engine future.

BMW will continue their domination in diesel powerplants in Europe and Lexus, despite the bonus their parent company is getting out of this deal, will stick with in house designs.

Most importantly, the Lexus cars of the future that will have fuel economy as a main feat will rely on hybrid technology.

It does seem natural, and if you think it’s unfair, let’s remember that BMW will not be selling the hybrid models they get to develop in Europe.

The old continent is a large market for diesel engines but then again North America and Asia are quite the large ones available for hybrids.

In a couple of years or so we’ll be able to notice just how this deal works out for each of the companies. For now, latent contract clauses BMW issued aren’t all that exciting.

Great victories require lots of smaller ones, at least this is beginning to be the thought process of BMW when it comes to it’s strategy in the future. Because of the world’s trends and evolving markets, especially in China, BMW tries to plan ahead of it’s main rivals Lexus and Mercedes and slowly but surely cut down on size.

The German car manufacturer thinks that in order for it’s models to be more attractive to customers, they have to be smaller, more efficient with fuel management and lighter. Thus, BMW will be adding new investments to its plants.

This is also true for the engines, especially the V8, because Europe and China don’t require as many except for the US that will probably remain a niche market for them.

So times are changing and power isn’t everything nowadays, not in a car from the premium segment. China, for example, isn’t interested in horsepower as it is in emissions and fuel consumption. So BMW, in order to qualify for it’s second biggest market, must accept its demands. And if we think of the numbers that result from BMW car sales there, they have good reasons too.

BMW is not content with having the global crown for sales in the luxury department, they want to win over the American market by moving them away from Lexus and in order to achieve this they are pushing their BMW Individual program.

Basically what they want stateside buyers to do is to buy a car with what they want on it in terms of trim levels instead of just buying what the dealer has to offer at a particular time. Since the next car they will be launching in the U.S. is the 2011 BMW X3 that will be the one that they plan on starting this car buying revolution with.

This form of sales helps BMW with their projections and inventory but it also helps you get the car you wanted and it is a system that is successfully applied in Europe where almost 50% of all BMW’s sold are custom ordered.

This isn’t as simple as it sounds since Americans enjoy the idea of hitting a dealer showroom and leaving with a car off that lot the same day so if BMW will want the higher profit margins and the reduction in inventory they’ll have to be innovative here.

So in order to make this a reality the new BMW X3’s production will be moved from Austria to the recently expanded Spartanburg plant in South Carolina. Building the crossovers here will allow BMW to drastically cut delivery times and BMW will also be more heavily promoting its factory delivery program and the driving classes it offers at the nearby Performance Driving School.

BMW haven’t managed to overtake Lexus as top seller in the United States over the past ten decade despite a great product lineup.

This year however, Lexus have suffered quite a bit due to the company recalls.

Despite these “good” news analysts still believe that Lexus will still come in first and BMW will still be trailing even closer behind. What is most likely to be the thing keeping BMW from taking the sales crown in the American states is the wind down of the old 5 series since, in preparation for the June launch of the new model the dealers have … almost run out of cars to sell.

BMW AG global sales chief Ian Robertson stated that the 5 Series amounts to around 25 percent of BMW sales in the states and this issue will be a slight problem but with the launch of the new one it should be covered and he expects sales to register a few digit points of growth which are most likely to keep overall sales at a level pace.

So BMW are doing quite well while Lexus will have to wait for the simple results of the recall issues with the Lexus GX that took a bit off the boost sales Lexus required.
