Norbert Reithofer’s statements on the four-cylinder engines

BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer recently made few statements about the possible introduction of four-cylinder engines for few certain models in range. Even the main BMW rivals such as the Germans from Mercedes and Audi seem to introduce new four-cylinder engines in order to get a better fuel consumption and CO2 emission, the Bavarians still using the same propellers.

These assumptions were confirmed recently by Norbert Reithofer, BMW’ Chief. In fact, we talk about the BMW’s 7 Series range which will continue to use the six-cylinder and eight-cylinder units instead adopting more eco-friendly engines as the rivals mentioned above.

It’s true that the BMW’s flagship is a big and heavy model, the 7 Series needing a powerful engine under the hood to balance the power-to-weight ratio and also to provide good performance figures. Thus, for now, the 7 Series range will keep using the usual engines without adopting a smaller one. However, Reithofer claimed that the ActiveHybrid range needs to be expanded in addition.
