BMW is on a full throttle, announcing and secretly planning some new models, which will revive some of its model fleet, like the X1. A recent reports does not rule out the idea of launching the X2, which would complete the “X” generation.

The BMW X2 might arrive somewhere in 2017, and even if the BMW German based carmaker has not yet confirmed the rumors, it would resemble the BMW X4 and X6, being basically a larger X1, the model coming with a sloping roofline and a few more tweaks.

The 2017 BMW X2 will underpin the newest UKL platform, also seen on the BMW X1, 2-Series Active Tourer or the MINI model lineup. The X2 will be thus offered with a front-wheel drive layout as standard, while an xDrive configuration would also emerge, for additional costs.

Under the hood, the 2017 BMW X2 might come with some interesting engine choices, starting with the 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine, followed by the 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline and diesels. Unfortunately, we do not have the details performance figures, but we should learn more in September, where the model might be unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The company is also planning the introduction of an xDrive variant, best suitable for American teenagers` needs. So imagine driving a BMW XCite xDrive on the streets of Miami or Los Angeles.

Exciting driving of the BMW XCite comes with an interesting choice of engines under the hood, where the carmaker will have to decide between the company`s three- or four-cylinder units, with the turbocharged configuration. Or perhaps, it will use them both.

Additionally, we might witness the return of the six-manual transmission, which would give the XCite more reasons to be the perfect solution for boys, while the girls may also choose to drive it with the eight-speed automatic. We are looking forward to see the BMW`s final plans and performance details!

The BMW German based automaker is still unsure whether to use a front-wheel drive layout or not for the upcoming 2-Series Coupe and Convertible versions.

We are talking about some rumors coming from the already famous BMW insider Scott26/27, who has found out that the carmaker is somehow determined to put the 2-Series on a FWD platform.

To be a reminder, the BMW carmaker launched the first 2-Series lineup with a rear-wheel drive system, with the 2-Series Active Tourer car family to be the first model using the new UKL platform, meaning a front-wheel drive layout.

Decisively, the BMW automaker might be somehow inclined of moving forward with a future generation 2-Series lineup, both convertible and coupe, that would stay on the same FWD platform.

The BMW board will soon have to decide on this awkward situation, especially since other rumors also mentions the possibility of the 1-Series lineup to be standing on the carmaker`s new UKL platform in the near future as well.

The BMW 2-Series Active Tourer LWB was recently seen online in two renderings, signed by Theophilus Chin, previewing a future model coming with a longer wheelbase and 7 seats.

The two renderings are actually based on the spy shots taken by the spy photographers with BMW 2-Series Active Tourer LWB, while the model was being tested.

This is a clear indication that the BMW German based luxury automaker is presently working on a 7-seat and long wheelbase version of the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer LWB, the MPV also standing on the same UKL platform.

Other than that, what we also know about the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer LWB is that the MPV will also have a front-wheel drive system, larger rear doors, as well as a much taller roof.

Under the hood, the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer LWB is also said to come with two petrol burners and a diesel, meaning a 1.5-liter three-cylinder, with 136 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque, while the larger 2.0-liter four-cylinder, develops 231 horses and 350 Nm of torque.

The 2.0-liter diesel unit, develops a good 150 horsepower and 330 Nm of torque.

According to some reports released by Autocar, BMW German based automaker is planning to launch eight SUVs by 2020, which would be something revolutionary in terms of innovation and technology investments.

We are talking about a range of SUVs starting with a compact X1 FWD, to a more sporty X8 model, derived from the X7 seven-seat.

Even if the German automaker hasn’t confirmed the whole eight SUVs, there is one of them that has already been planned by BMW.

First, BMW is planning a future X1, standing on the new UKL platform, with a front-wheel drive layout, while the future X2 will share the platform with the new MINI and the 2-Series Active Tourer.

Next in line, the X3 will be coming in 2017, with no details so far, yet we do know that the BMW X4 already launched, will be followed by an M Performance model as well.

The X5 model will soon be followed by an M version as well, rumored to sport a 4.4-liter V8 unit, while the higher X6 will be coming with a more masculine design.

Finally, the BMW X7 and X8 will be closely related, as the latter one will be based on the X7, promising to be much sportier in order to successfully compete against the future Audi Q8.

We talked earlier in an article about the spied BMW X4 to soon hit the market, and now a new set of fresh info confirms the upcoming of the second coupe crossover, to join the already present X6 in the year the come.

According to new reports, the German based luxury car manufacturer is preparing the fresh X2 coupe crossover which is based on the platform of the next-generation X1.

As Drive, the Australian publication mentions, the X2 would be launched somewhere in 2017, or around 12 to 18 months after the arrival of the new X1.

The BMW X2 will lay out the same renderings as its siblings X6 and X4, sharing the same body style as the X1, with couple like roof like.

Both the BMW X1 and X2 will sport the BMW`s Group of front-wheel drive systems based on the UKL platform, with the debut in the 2014 MINI Cooper and 2-Series Active Tourer.

The UKL platform is used for transverse-mounted engines and front-wheel drive configurations. The engines for the UKL platform include a choice of three-, four-cylinder units, both coming in gasoline and diesel.

We all know that the BMW X1 reached the US market in 2012, as it has been in Europe on sale since 2009. Still, at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, the X1 however received some updates, that would prove to be the final ones before the new X1 entering the market in 2016.

With all that, the prototype which would be the next generation of 2016 X1 was spotted some time ago. It seems that the car is shorter than the present model and its styling is supposed to be much sleeker and sportier.

A new platform with a shorter length, especially at the front end is also an indication on how the 2016 BMW X1 would look like.

Since the present X1 has a rear-wheel-drive from the 1-Series, the 2016 generation X1 will be sporting the UKL platform which can be found on the 2015 MINI Cooper.

Spy shots reveal the front wheels slipping when the car is trying to accelerate on a wet patch, which confirms the configuration of the car`s front-wheel-drive.

This is a clear sign that the new 2016 BMW X1 will not be that sporty as the present model, but will still retain the same all-wheel-drive performance. The car should also be more practical as it enhances a better packaging of front-wheel-drive layouts.

Well now, it is a bit of a situation we’re into, can you really trust the British to deliver some information on what Germany is working on?

Not sure about that one yet but there are a few reports coming in from the UK about BMW possibly creating a new model called the Z2.

The Z range has always been made up of fairly interesting vehicles, even if some of them weren’t as good as they could have been.

Building on such a legacy, what could a Z2 model offer? Hopes, discussions about such a model are about to skyrocket, but we do know a few of the ideas behind it.

Allegedly, the guys at BMW are looking into this car and they want to make it but they’re not being absurd about it.

Most chances are that it will be a slow seller so making a profit off such a car needs some serious control of the development costs.

Making the marker will almost certainly imply that BMW will need to make the Z2 one of their front wheel drive models.

Since the Z2 moniker some extra sportiness will be in store though so the UKL platform might need to get some BMW and Mini magic altogether.

In terms of engines, something more exciting was rumored. BMW’s brilliant N20 2.0 liter turbocharged engine might make a special appearance here with somewhere between 250 and 300 horsepower.

Bring it on, regardless of which wheels are driven, it should be an interesting product.
