What was once just a projection of BMW`s masterplan of building the most impressive SUV within its X lineup, is now gradually becoming more and more reality, in the shape of the upcoming X7. The massive SUV has been spotted in a new spy video while being tested to the full on the Ring.

Official details with the new X7 are already known, but it is our duty to fill you in every time we see it in action, with the hope that new info will emerge on the surface.

For those we have missed our recent posts on the new BMW X7, the model is due to arrive somewhere next year, not before making its official appearance at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, this September.

It is reported to come with plenty of similarities in terms of exterior design and interior bits, and technology, with its smaller brother, the new X5. However, it is going to be the biggest SUV ever built, available with three rows of seats as well, and plenty of compartments for different items.

The X7 will also stand on the company`s new CLAR platform, also underpinning the all-new 5-Series and the 7-Series, meaning carbon fiber and aluminum composites which will make it faster and more agile.

Speaking of agility and performance, the all-new BMW X7 SUV will make use of a wide range of petrol burners and diesels, adding as well a PHEV variant as well. Later on, the German carmaker is also reported to release a top of the line M variant, similar to the X5`s and X6`s M versions.

The new Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV is going to receive a major blow from BMW`s upcoming 2018 X7, which is going to be its ultimate fighting German machine, incorporating an extremely appealing design, impressive gadgetries and high-end materials inside, following impressive performance under the hood.

And we already saw the first spy photos and details with the all-new BMW X7 about two months ago. Ever since, more and more rumors, reports and videos are beginning to pop-up online, a clear indication that the SUV is close and closer to its final guise.

The recent spy video brings the BMW X7 even closer to our attention, the model being caught while revving its engine in new snowy tests, all covered in the same heavy camouflage.

As you probably know, visually and mechanically, the brand-new X7 will take its inspiration from the 5-, 7-Series and the X5, coming as well with plenty of new features at the exterior as well as inside the cabin.

But the car`s most impressive highlight is the powertrain under the hood, the video below depicting exactly the type of engine growl that it will come with. It is impressive, mind-blowing and intimidating at the same time.

Speaking of performance, the 2018 BMW X7 will feature a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, shortly followed by a 7-Series-sourced V12 in its top of the line version. Also, as recently stated in another review on the future X7, the SUV will also come in the shape of a hybrid version, with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine hooked to an electric motor, developing a total of 322 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque.

Once arriving on the market in early 2018, the all-new BMW X7 will have a starting price of more than $100,000 and will be built in the United States, at the carmaker`s main facility in Spartanburg, where it also builds the present X3, X4, X5 and the top of the line X5 M and X6 M.

Even if the overall details with the upcoming BMW X7 are not fresh, a new report issued by Autocar indicates that the high-end SUV would be also launched with a new hybrid version. This wouldn’t be a surprise, especially since almost each branch within the carmaker`s lineup is going to come with a hybrid and an all-electric version as well.

The report from Autocar is quite reliable, especially since it comes from a source inside the company, and which confirms that the X7 hybrid will be present on the road at the beginning of 2018, along with the standard X7 SUV.
Once decided for production line, the all-new BMW X7 hybrid will adopt the 7-Series 740e` drivetrain, consisting of a 2.0-liter twin-turbo gasoline mill plus an electric motor as well. The overall output would be around 326 horsepower.

Besides the high-performance hybrid drivetrain, the new X7 plug-in will resemble the standard SUV, meaning a more evolutionary design with advanced aerodynamics. We should be able to see an updated front with huge double kidney grille and some other styling tweaks with inspiration from the new X5.

In terms of luxury, the entire X7 range will come with the latest high-end materials and plenty of gadgetries inside, borrowed from the 5- or the 7-Series. Speaking about high-tech gizmos and luxury, Ian Robertson, BMW sales and market CEO, has also declared:

“We will have some versions that are top-end luxury, as well as more mainstream versions. I can’t talk about pricing now, but given that this car will have all the technology and luxury of the 7 Series, it gives you a pretty good idea of the price point we’re talking about.”

Amongst the interior`s top features we should mention the semi-autonomous driving, updated infotainment system with smartphone integration, the latest head-up display, leather and carbon fiber trims on the seats and dash, and much more.

But until then, BMW is keeping the model under heavy camouflage, which indicates that there is still much work to be done.

The model is going to be huge, definetely the hugest project that BMW has ever created, and that because of the increasing demand of bigger and bigger SUVs.

As we can depict from the spy photos below, the test mule is wearing heavy camouflage, meaning that it will come with a new daring approach in terms of styling. The camouflage conceals the extra body panels, the front fenders, as well as the front and rear doors, indicating significant changes that will make it extremely evolutionary in design. Also, the big kidney grille with the center hood reveal an aggressive attitude as well.

However, there are body parts that are not camouflaged, like the roof, which depicts the car`s silver rails or the huge panoramic glass, while at the rear, the prominent exhaust tips is a clear indication of the SUV`s impressive engine portfolio.

BMW has already confirmed its planning of introducing the most luxurious and powerful X model from the lineup, which is no other than the X7 SUV, set to arrive somewhere in 2019.

But besides the aforementioned model, the German based company is also presuming working on a four-seater X7 version, that would tackle the Bentley`s Bentayga SUV, which is said to be the epitome of luxury and performance on the SUV market today.

And the renderings below, signed by no other than rendering artist Theophilus Chin, might provide us a closer look on how such a version will look like.

Reportedly coming with a price below $200,000, the all-new four-seater version will come with a slightly different exterior, more legroom for the rear passengers, and a few more. The most interesting part, according to AutoNews, is that the two versions will not share the common UKL platform.

However, the same engine lineup fitting the seven-seater will be also found underneath the smaller version, meaning a wide range of six- and eight-cylinder mills, followed by hybrid version, as expected.

Commonly amongst the X5 and X6, which are also had with the much more potent M versions, the X7 might as well receive an M Performance model, which would tackle the likes of the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63, this one coming with a five-seat arrangement and upgraded powertrains.

It is also the case of the BMW X7, now popping-up in a new rendering signed by the same Autobild. Set to arrive on the market in 2018 as a 2019 MY, the X7 promises to be the most luxurious from its class. It will come in two versions and a worthy price tags of at least $100,000.

The renderings signed by the famous German magazine are based on the recent rumors and previews, showing us a massive body styling and an extremely evolutionary design, highlighted at the front by wide kidney grille with chromed outer edge, large air intakes and bumper, and sporty panel.

The rear end is also looking exclusive with the massive tailgate with roof spoiler, adding sleek taillights wrapping around the corners, and other styling cues that improve the car`s overall athletic look.

Once arriving on the market, the all-new 2019 BMW X7 will compete the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLS Class and Range Rover. It is also said to spawn a much more potent X7M SUV, with an upgraded powertrain under the hood. The rumor mill is rather scarce at the moment.

Speaking of performance, the 2019 X7 will come will come with the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo I6 from the 7-Series 740i, adding as well the 4.4-liter twin V8 from the 750i. As expected, the carmaker will also introduce a plug-in hybrid version, equipped with a massive 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12, borrowed from M760Li.

The carmaker`s planning of an X7 M model has also sparkled the rendering artists` imaginations who have already envisioned their own hardcore model. The latest rendering is the one seen above and it is signed by no other than theophiluschin.

As we can depict from the rendering, the BMW X7 M is looking extremely appealing yet coming with an aggressive design thanks to the M parts around the body styling.

Even if the model was not yet officially confirmed by the carmaker, it is believed that it would come as the main competitor of the new Bentley Bentayga, presently the most powerful SUV on the market, as well as of the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GLS 63, another potent SUV from Mercedes-Benz which promises to come with impressive performance and torque.

Also, even if there aren`t any officials details concerning the engine under the hood, the upcoming BMW X7 M might pack a powerful lineup, with a wide array of six- and eight-cylinder mills. The rumor mill with BMW preparing a top of the line X7 is not new, the expected model coming in around two years and becoming the most desired SUV from the entire X lineup.

We all know how impressive the BMW X5 and X6 SUV truly, or even better, the X5M andX6M look like, all coming with a massive body and aggressive design lines; not to mention the latest technology inside and the massive engine with impressive performance.

Well, just imagine that the future BMW X7 will be the cream of the crop, outrunning all X5s and X6s in every possible way. The newest thing is that the SUV would be built in two body styling configurations, which will be completely different from eachother.

We are dealing here with a four-seat X7 SUV version, designed for extremely fancy people who love luxury and the latest high-tech gizmos, this one being set at least $100,000. On the other hand, the carmaker would also release a seven-seat X7 version, aimed towards families and their pets. This one would be extremely big and imposing as well.

Even if both versions will look differently in styling, according to Car and Driver, they get to sit on the company`s newest and largest rear-wheel-drive architecture, with a four-wheel drive system, which would make them extremely high-performance.

Performance wise, the all-new BMW X7 would also come with an improved range of petrol burners and diesels, with six-cylinder configuration and the same TwinPower Turbo technology. There is also going to be a top of the line V12 with impressive power. All engines will be hooked to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.

Once it will emerge on the market in a couple of years, the BMW X7 SUV will become the direct competitor of the new Audi Q7 also launched for hard testing, or the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator.

The BMW X7 is back into our spotlights in some new renderings signed by the folks over OmniAuto magazine, with some in-depth detailing concerning its official release and the powertrains it will come with under the hood.

According to OmniAuto, the BMW X7 is indeed confirmed for an official debut in 2019, the biggest SUV ever built by BMW, starting production in South Carolina, at Spartanburg plant.

Once it will emerge at its dealerships, the X7 will be available from at least $145,000 which is way too much than the 7-Series` entry-level price of $81,300.

As you probably know from our previous posts, the X7 will be previewed by the launch of the X5 flagship, also coming bigger and wider than the previous generation and underpinning the same CLAR platform as the future X7. Both models will come with extremely lightweight materials which will make them extremely spacious inside.

Speaking about size inside, the BMW X7 will be coming with a seven-seat displacement, followed by the most luxurious SUV ever offered, with just a four-seat arrangement. According to the same auto magazine, the rear passengers will have heating, ventilation and massaging functions, along with the most advanced entertainment systems available and equipped with navigation, audio and so on.

But perhaps the SUV`s main highlight would be the engine lineup it will come with, reports also mentioning the presence of a massive 6.6-liter V12 engine, also found on the 2016 BMW 7-Series. The V12 engine will join the others from the club, like the V8 and six-cylinder petrol burners and diesels, present on the future X5 as well.

Once it will emerge on the market, the BMW X7 will take on the Mercedes-Benz GLS or Land Rover Range Rover.

The all-new BMW X5 and X7 are back into our spotlights again, the models being previewed in new interesting details before emerging on the market in a couple of years. The fresh details have been released by recent reports.

The reports come from Autocar and state that the BMW X5 will come with a much wider body style than the present generation, otherwise a miniature replica of the upcoming BMW X7.

Even if BMW launched the present BMW X5 around three years ago, the German company is already planning the introduction of a completely new version, which would arrive in a couple of years and sport most of the mechanics found on the future X7.

For instance, Autocar online magazine reported that the new X5 would share the same CLAR platform, also underpinning the future X7, making it the smaller wheelbase version of the latter.

Under the hood, the BMW X5 is also likely to borrow the engine lineup from the X7. We might be looking here at a 3.0-liter straight-six engine, a much more potent twin-turbo V8, as well as a 6.0-liter V12 topper. As expected, a hybrid version will also join the club.

As for the all-new BMW X7, the largest SUV ever built by the company, is also reported to come with two variants in terms of body styling, like a 4- and a 7-seater, the latter looking a little bit different from the first one. In the engine department, the X7 is said to “pick engines from the entire BMW range.”
