After the German car maker got us used with facelifts applied to most of BMW 5 series units, the time has come for BMW ActiveHybrid 5 2013 to undergo some retouches.

Do not worry, the motoring configuration stays the same, meaning an electric engine of 55 HP plus a twin power turbo engine at 3.0-liter, with 6 cylinders in line, carrying up to 400 Nm of torque respectively 306 HP.

One technology change suffered by BMW ActiveHybrid 5 2013 refers to its special Proactive Driving Assistant system, upgraded to make the hybrid work smoother. Shortly put, it helps the powers of the two engines work better as a whole.

On the outside, we do notice that BMW ActiveHybrid 5 2013 got a new, redesigned rear bumper, modified outer trim options and an enhanced frontal air intake! What else would you expect from this facelift?

With all the fancy features that BMW ActiveHybrid 5 brings to its customers, it makes one of the few BMW models who experience a drop of price. We are talking about a 3.000 dollars cut off, leaving it to 119.900 dollars.

The Bavarians from BMW decided to release information and images with the new ActiveHybrid 5, the newest addition to the fuel-efficient range of models. As its name says, we talk about a hybrid variant of the new BMW 5 Series generation which is scheduled to hit the showrooms somewhere in March next year. According to the manufacturer, the new ActiveHybrid 5 is based on the 535i model which sports a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engine offering 300 horsepower.

In addition, BMW fitted an electric motor producing 55 horsepower, the power being channeled to the wheels by an eight-speed automatic transmission. The ActiveHybrid 5 is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5,7 seconds while an ECO Pro mode system helps the model to reduce the fuel consumption.

At speeds lower than 35 km/h, the lithium-ion battery can provide a fully electric driving range of 4 kilometers but of course this is not an impressive number. However, we know that this is not meant to be an electric model, the additional motor being there only to reduce the consumption.

For now, we have no details about the fuel consumption of the new BMW ActiveHybrid 5 but the Germans promised to release all the information soon.

We got some new details regarding the future of the ActiveHybrid range we would like to talk about. The BMW’s ActiveHybrid range currently including the X6 SUV and 7 Series will benefit from two new models to join the list of hybrid Bavarian models.

The closer one is the ActiveHybrid 5 rumored to be revealed somewhere next year while the ActiveHybrid version of BMW 3 Series is expected somewhere in 2012, thus, the next generation 3 Series might include a hybrid model.

All these assumptions are fed also by few statements made by Dr. Norbert Reithofer back in May this year, through which we can achieve that the ActiveHybrid range will be extended soon but also the Megacity project will take shape somewhere later in 2013. The statements in question were made by BMW’s Chairman at the 90th Annual General Meeting of BMW AG which took place at the BMW’s headquarter in Munich, Germany, few months ago.

If someone would ask me my favorite ActiveHybrid after something like 6 months, it would probably be this BMW ActiveHybrid 5 because I love the BMW 5 Series but at the same time I love the hybrids built by BMW so this would be in the top of my favorite BMW cars.

I also know that there is just one week left until the release at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show. I would also like to tell you that at the moment, this BMW ActiveHybrid 5 remains a concept comparing to BMW ActiveHybrid 7 or BMW ActiveHybrid X6.

People are expecting from this BMW ActiveHybrid 5 to come with a 3.0 liter turbocharged straight-six engine and of course that if it is a hybrid, that engine is combined with a 40 kW electric engine which makes this car to be a perfect city car but also a good car to travel with.

Before start talking about this concept, I must say that the 2011 BMW 5 Series is going to start being sold from June in the United States which is great for the 5 Series fans because these are signs that the BMW 5 Series is being very active including this BMW ActiveHybrid 5 which is a concept at the moment.

There are not too many details on the internet about this BMW ActiveHybrid 5 concept and I would love to know what engine will it have but this car is going to debut at the Geneva Auto Show which will happen in March so most lately we will know much details then.

BMW is keeping this BMW ActiveHybrid 5 concept as a ghost because they don’t want to release the details about this hybrid or at last some photos. I think that after a long time, there will be an ActiveHybrid version for any BMW car.
