It seems that BMW carmaker has already started campaigning the arrival of the new Z5, the official replacement of the Z4, the test mule seen here in a new spy video showing off its extraordinary drifting capabilities in snowy conditions.

As we can also depict from the video released by motor1. auto magazine, the future Z5 will be an exciting and fun convertible to drive, especially since it comes with a more lightweight chassis and advanced aerodynamics.

Presented on the snowy track with other test mules, the BMW Z5 performs extremely well in tight corners, with the driver perfectly managing to control the test mule while pushing the pedal to the metal. There are more spectacular testing sessions that are perfectly highlighted in the video below.

Seen here fully camouflaged like in the most of the recent spy photos, the all-new 2018 BMW Z5 is going to be top notch in the convertible segment, coming with an improved design.

As seen in the video below as well, besides the spectacularly performing, the 2018 Z5 will wear updated headlights and taillights along with extra panels with black rivets, new rear bumper layout and more angular exhaust tops.

From previous news, we have also learned that the new Z5 will come with a soft top with fabric setup, meaning that it will shed off significant weight to make more room in the trunk and become faster around the track.

Under the hood, rumors have is that the new Z5 will come with a wide range of four- and six-cylinder engines, shortly followed by a hybrid variant with an all-wheel layout. As for a future M variant, the carmaker has ruled out that possibility for the moment.

Following a batch of spy photos with the upcoming BMW Z5 while performing snowy testing at the Arctic Circle, the official successor of the Z4 is popping-up into the spotlights again in a new set of photos, which depict the test mule wearing less camo, and revealing its rear exhaust system with new tips.

The model is thus getting ready for an official debut at the end of the year, standing side-by-side its sibling Supra sedan, from Toyota. Both will be built in Graz, Austria.

Compared to the last year`s first spy photos which depicted the future Z5 wearing circular exhaust tips, this test mule is wearing now more angular exhaust tips and a new rear bumper layout. And even if the model is still under serious testing, this seems to be the car`s final shape before entering the production line.

This means that the all-new BMW Z5 is also going to come with the headlights and taillights presently found on the test mule, along with the extra panels with the black rivets. Also, the trunk lid is likely to preserve the present shape, while the spoiler lip will make the styling more prominent.

More than that, unlike the BMW Z4 which used a hardtop, the future Z5 will be using a soft top with a fabric setup, which will shed off important weight and add more space into the car`s trunk.

In the engine department, as you already probably know, the upcoming BMW Z5 would be equipped with a wide range of four- and six-cylinder engines, shortly followed by a hybrid powertrain with an all-wheel drive setup. As for a much more potent M variant, this possibility is just a dream for the moment.

The joint venture between BMW and Toyota is likely to spawn a new generation of highly developed models in terms of design and performance under the hood, and that thanks to Toyota`s latest technology and BMW`s know-how and expertise.

Recently, we have seen the all-new 2018 Toyota Supra being seen in the first tests at the Ring, the model coming with advanced technology and the latest hybrid drivetrain.

Now, the same joint venture is testing out the official replacement of the BMW Z4, dubbed the Z5, the test mule also getting its piece of the action at the Ring. As we can depict from the spy video, it is bigger, more aggressive and indeed a worthy successor than would carry on the legacy of the Z4 legend.

This would be the first time seeing the so called Z5 on works at the Ring, the model being in its early stage of development, wearing full camouflage and tweaking new mods at the body.

The car`s main highlights are for the moment the new aero styling bits, like the front winglets on the lower bumper bar, adding active rear wing for improved aerodynamics and increased stability on the tracks.

Under the hood, the BMW Z5 will come with a wide range of four- and six-cylinder engines, adding an interesting hybrid version developed by Toyota. At the end of last year, there were a lot of rumors and reports stating that the upcoming BMW Z5 would be produced in partnership with Toyota, to create unique models, the joint venture consolidating thus their agreement first signed in 2012.

Recently, the all-new BMW Z5 has been spotted while undergoing some tests out in the snow, the test mule wearing heavy camouflage around the body style.

The BMW Z5 will enter the market as a 2018 YM and will replace the present Z4. In terms of styling, the hot ride will be larger than the Z4, and will stand on a platform that will be shared with Toyota`s new prototype.

As we can depict from the video spy below, the 2018 BMW Z5 is previewing a traditional long-bonnet and drawn-back cabin, long nose and rear overhangs. Also, the test mule is also showing the more prominent grilles and back headlights.

Stating recent reports, the 2018 BMW Z5 will be built in two versions, a hardtop and a softtop, both packing 2.0-liter turbocharged engines, plus a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder. All engines will come, as expected, with a rear-wheel drive.

On the other side, Toyota`s new hybrid will use BMW`s turbo engines paired to Toyota`s electric motor, the new model coming as well with an all-wheel drive.

The 2018 BMW Z5 has been rumored for some time, the model being recently caught on a spy video while performing some tests out in the cold weather and under heavy snow.

We are not sure where particularly in Europe was the all-new Z5 sent for testing, but we can be sure that the model is under constant fire before its official unveiling next year, with sales to follow a couple of months later.

There isn’t much to tell about the 2018 BMW Z5, as the test mule is wearing full camouflage, but even so, we can depict the basic design cues that it will come with.

As opposed to the new Z4, the Z5 is visibly much larger and wider, coming with a longer wheelbase than the rest of the previous roadster that BMW has launched so far. More than that, the 2018 Z5 will be using a soft top convertible roof and not a hard top that the new-gen Z4 is currently using.

Also very interesting, the 2018 BMW Z5 might be the first prototype to be released from a BMW and Toyota joint venture, which will also produce the future Toyota Supra.

In terms of performance, the 2018 BMW Z5 is likely to come with an interesting engine lineup, with power to range between 190 horsepower and 425 horsepower in the Z5 M. As expected, a plug-in hybrid version with 204 horsepower will also be released later on.
