BMW 3-Series is a “must have” for the entire history of the German based carmaker, as it represents the embodiment of technological innovations that BMW has pinned on other models as well. And this year, the carmaker is celebrating the 3-Series` 40th anniversary, a good opportunity to announce new changes in the series.

Thus, BMW has just unveiled the 2016 BMW 3-Series facelift, the model which will come with some slight changes at the body, but with interesting modifications under the hood. First off, the 335i has been already pulled over, making room for the newly 440i model, underpinning the carmaker`s latest B58 mill under the hood, which will replace the N55, found on the former 335i.

But the moment we have all been waiting for, is the arrival of the latest plug-in hybrid which would complete the 2016 BMW 3-Series. News have it that the model will indeed arrive next year in the shape of the 330e, the version being fitted with an interesting hybrid powertrain under the hood.

The 2016 BMW 3-Series 330e plug-in hybrid will be fitted with a four-cylinder engine that will produce 250 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. Thus, the hybrid will run to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. Backed by an electric motor with direct transmission, the model will also come with a 22 range mile.

Apart from the 330e plug-in hybrid, the 3-Series will make use of the same N55 mill, which will fit under other versions from the series, like the 320i, the 328i, or the 328d. BMW is apparently working on the new generation 1-Series, as a spy video with the future model was recently presented by the folks from Motor Authority online auto magazines, showcasing the model on the tracks at Nurburgring. The 2017 BMW 1-Series Sedan was also caught on shots some time ago!

The upcoming 1-Series Sedan is all wrapped in camouflage, which is a certainty that it would come up with some interesting body style updates, like the “conventional notchback design with proportions typical of cars wearing the blue and white roundel.”

But what it is really interesting about the 2017 BMW 1-Series Sedan is that it will come with a front-wheel drive layout, which is a new thing for a BMW sedan model. If proved successful on the 1-Series Sedan, this new platform might lead the way for other future sedan models, like the next-gen X1, 1-Series Hatchback and a couple more.

Along the front-wheel drive layout, the 2017 BMW 1-Series Sedan will come with a wide array of engines under the hood, such as the three- and the four-cylinder turbocharged units. This way, the upcoming 1-Series Sedan would be able to cope with the hard competition from Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz CLA.

Rumors with a replacement version for the 3-Series 335i have been popping up on the web for quite some time and now, some new reports have approved that the version would be replaced by a much powerful model, in the shape of the 3-Series 340i.

In terms of visuals, the 2016 BMW 3-Series 340i is coming with some important design features, which will differentiate it from the current 335i, like revised bumpers at the front and rear end, new grille and suspension, full LED headlights and other features that will make it stand out from the crowd. The model will also come with the Mediterranean Blue color, the same one seen on the 2-Series Active Tourer as well.

Under the hood, the 2016 BMW 3-Series 340i will come with some important changes, meaning that it will receive the B58 3.0-liter six-cylinder unit, which will produce 320 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque.

The 3.0-liter six-cylinder will be hooked to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, both for a rear-wheel drive, as well as an all-wheel drive layout, in the xDrive version. The 2016 BMW 3-Series is believed to be officially launched at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show.

After the official announcement of the 2016 BMW 3-Series 340i version this summer, the BMW German based carmaker is also planning to introduce the new 4-Series, intending to replace the 435i version with the 440i one.

If you thought that BMW was busy launching new and high-end models at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show and not working on some secret model, think again! The German carmaker is restless and on a constant hunt against its top predators Mercedes-Benz or Audi. Thus, the upcoming 1-Series Sedan was spotted under some track tests.

This would be perhaps the automaker`s response to the A3 model from Audi, or the CLA from Mercedes-Benz, meaning that the 2017 BMW 1-Series Sedan is supposed to be regarded as the segment`s entry level, coming with some interesting body features. Even if the test mule is fully camouflaged, we can depict some changes that will be carried out on the body.

We are looking here at a shorter model than the 3-Series, with the trunk lid now standing higher. The model will use the carmaker`s new UKL platform, the same seen on other new models from BMW or MINI.

As expected, the 2017 BMW 1-Series Sedan will borrow the engines from its older sibling, the 2-Series Active Tourer, meaning that it will receive the turbocharged three- and four-cylinder engines, with the top of the line 225i being powered by four-cylinder and a good 231 horsepower. The model will also come with front- and all-wheel drive configurations. So far the performance details are rather scarce, but we should find out more later on.

Auto Gespot has provided us with a handful of spy shots with the latest edition from BMW 3-Series, the long expected 328e plug-in hybrid, while performing some tests at the Nurburgring, before being launched on the US market at the beginning of 2016.

This is not the only model being caught while undergoing tests, as the German premium carkamer is planning to introduce some new editions on the market, like the new 7-Series, the M2, as well as the updated 3-Series sedan.

The 2016 BMW 328e plug-in hybrid will be coming with some important elements concerning the car`s powertrain and fuel efficiency on the road, setting new standards in terms of safety at the same time. The plug-in hybrid will thus come with the Real Time Traffic Information, a safety system which allows the car to detect and prevent any unexpected road and traffic situations.

Concerning the powertrain, the 2016 BMW 328e plug-in hybrid will use a gasoline unit, fitted with four cylinders and backed by an electric motor at the rear, which output an overall of 245 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque.

Apart from the impressive torque, the 2016 BMW 328e plug-in hybrid will also come cheap in terms of fuel, as this stands at a combined consumption of just 2.1 liters for every 100 kilometers.
