BMW is on a full throttle these days feeling quite comfortable in its home country Germany, especially with the newly introduced M6 GT3 racer at the M Festival. This newest addition from BMW is coming with an impressive body design and high-performance under the hood.

At the M Festival, representatives from BMW have long –praised the M6 GT3 racing car. Amongst them, Jens Marquardt, the director at BMW Motorsports, has declared that the BMW M6 has been transformed into a genuine GT3, thanks to the joined efforts of both engineers and the entire BMW staff, adding thus another chapter to their successful GT model lineup.

The BMW M6 GT3 is looking hot, the racer sporting an aerodynamic and aggressive body kit, thanks to the new front bumper, distinctive rear wing or revised side skirts. Additionally, the safety cell was added inside the cabin, which meets the FIA requirements.

Under the hood, the BMW M6 GT3 will be powered by an upgraded 4.4-liter M TwinPower Turbo V8 unit, which develops 500 horsepower and an “impressively high-torque,” the carmaker wouldn’t want to reveal the real performance figures. BMW hasn’t also revealed the pricing tags with the BMW M6 GT3, considering that its audience and fans deserve a little teaser moment.

We have a lot of festivals out there, more or less official, that celebrate the great craftsmanship BMW has displayed over the years.

There is even a very nice gathering that caters specifically to the M Division of the German car maker.

Called the M Festival, it was set on June the 20th this year, and anyone willing to pay the entry fee will get to see all that is new with BMW’s M Division and so much more. In order to get in, you need to fork out €449, which will account for three days of fun and plenty of activities.

Said activities and advantages include an entrance ticket to the 24 hours race at the Nurburgring, access to pretty much all the M Festival areas, around the clock catering (most of which is included) and a whole lot more. You even get a the parking included. All in all, for almost €450, you get a nice vacation as any, provided you are a fan of the BMW M Division.

Following the photo gallery leaked yesterday, the Bavarians from BMW released a full photo gallery of the new BMW M5 but also the key features of the new M model based on the current generation 5 Series. As expected, our previous assumptions on the unit that comes with the new M5 confirm while in terms of aesthetics, the high-performance model gets specific M styling components, nothing very impressive, a sign that BMW focused on what sits under the bonnet.

Comparing to the current BMW 5 Series, the new M5 F10 benefits from more imposing parts such as new front and rear bumpers, a quad-pipe exhaust system, a set of 19-inch alloy wheels, new boot lid spoiler and also air vents.

On the other hand, the new M5 F10 gets the same unit that fits the current X5 M and X6 M models within the range. We talk about a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 unit able to offer 560 horsepower from 6,000 to 7,000 rpm and 680 Nm of torque from 1,500 rpm. The previous generation M5 benefits from a bigger 5.0-liter V10 unit but it offers slightly less power, somewhere around 500 horsepower.

This means that the new eight-cylinder engine should deliver a better fuel consumption, the Germans claiming that it has been increased by around 30% to 9,9 liters/100 km (23,8 mpg US) and CO2 emissions of 232 g/km, meeting the Euro5 requirements. The V8 engine comes together with a seven-speed M Double Clutch transmission with Drivelogic which transfers the power to the rear wheels. The new BMW M5 F10 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,4 seconds while the top speed is limited at 250 km/h or 305 km/h if you opt for the M Driver’s package.

Making again a comparison of the new M5 with the previous generation, the power output has been increased by 10% and torque by 30% while, as mentioned above, the fuel economy is improved by 30%. These figures are great mainly considering that we talk about a 4.4-liter V8 instead a 5.0-liter V10, therefore, a better optimized unit.

In terms of technology, the new BMW M5 F10 benefits from all the latest innovations such as the M Drive system, Servotronic steering system, M suspension, a high performance braking system, Drivelogic, Dynamic Damper Control and more. For now, there is no pricing details available but very likely we will find more next week at the M Festival.

We talked several times about the new BMW M5, a model based on the current 5 Series generation, internally known as F10. However, until now, we got no opportunity to see how the production model looks, the versions earlier revealed, for example the M5 Concept unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show being just pre-production prototypes. Besides the official photos for the M5 Concept, the Chinese automotive event brought us some interior shots too, but nothing very convincing considering its development stage.

Today, a German car magazine, Auto Zeitung to be more precise, released a set of photos with what should be the production version of the new BMW M5 F10. Until now, the Germans released no official details on the new M5 F10 as a response to the leaked images but most probably all the important details alongside a complete photo gallery will be available at the M Festival which starts on June 23 at the Nürburgring.

Under the bonnet, power comes from a twin-turbo 4.4-liter unit able to deliver 552 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque. With such resources, the V8 engine that equips the new BMW M5 makes the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h possible in 4,4 seconds and the acceleration from 0 to 200 km/h in 13 seconds.

The engine comes coupled with a seven-speed DCT transmission while a manual one can enter the optional list considering some spy shots revealing a new, camouflaged (gear knob), transmission being tested. According to some unofficial details, the top speed of the model will be increased from 250 km/h to 305 km/h thanks to the M Package.

As expected, the exterior appearance of the new BMW M5 slightly differs from the M5 Concept, the production model featuring more imposing side skirts and a slightly changed design line. Comparing to the BMW 5 Series, the M version brings at the exterior new front and rear bumpers, side skirts, a quad-pipe exhaust system and 20-inch rims with 265/35 ZR (front) and 295/30 ZR (rear).

The exterior finish of the German model in the pictures is the Monte Carlo Blue but more choices will be available when the new M5 debuts. Even the 2012 BMW M5 F10 is scheduled to debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September, we will get a full preview next week at the M Festival which is held at the Nürburgring.
