The famous F80 BMW M3 was recently taken for a spin by Drive Magazine of Greece, in one of the most famous and demanding roads from Austria, the Grossglockner road.

There is also a video launched by the Greek online car magazine, showcasing the good-looking M3 Sedan, the model that doesn’t need any introduction anymore.

But we can`t help it and we need to praise the M3 sedan again, as according to the BMW M division, the model in question is one of the greatest ever built by the German manufacturer in terms of performance and aerodynamics.

Talking about performance, the BMW M3 is equipped by a 3.0-liter inline-six cylinder twin-turbo engine, developing 425 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque.

But the real performances of the M3 sedan, as well as of the M4 coupe, consist of their chassis and drivetrain, as the aero downforce and the cooling traits have now been customized for improved efficiency.

More than that, the standard locking rear differential is put to high pressure, especially when the sports car is in a drifting mode and needs to be put back on the road.

The pressure of testing a new BMW prototype, even if there are multiple ones out there, must be quite tremendous. Going round a race track probably doesn’t help relieve that stress.

BMW’s test drivers seem to be well on top of the testing situation. During a test done at the infamous Nurburgring race track one of their F30 3 Series GT models was seriously being pushed.

Normally, we’d be looking at a video of rampant pace or some lap times, but this time we only have still images and we’re still sure there’s speed in the mix.

This is because of what happened at a famous corner around the Green Hell. That’ll be the Karussell turn and as you can see, the car is really going at it.

When the front inside wheel of a car is lifting that far off the ground the only things that pop to mind are speed and commitment.

It wasn’t that long ago that people were looking at an Aston Martin V8 Vantage lifting a wheel in the same corner and being quite impressed.

If that was the case for a high end sports car, what could it possibly signify when talking about a more practical version of a family sedan?

Doubtless, underneath the F30 3 Series GT you’ll find the same mechanical bits as the regular sedan and in this car they have been put through their paces.

By the time the car hits the production line we can expect the chassis to cut back on the stiffening of the chassis and suspension.

The market for small sporty cars isn’t small these days. It may have been so about a decade ago but it’s definitely coming back.

Trouble is, quantity doesn’t necessarily bring you to success. The really capable DNA of a great sports car of diminutive sizes is something tricky to create in a lab.

Few companies can manage it and BMW is one of those who not only achieve it but somehow manage to improve the breed. That’s why we’re looking forward to the M135i.

It’s not a fully fledged M Division product. It doesn’t have the sportiest of shapes and it’s not BMW’s best design example either.

This isn’t going to hold us back. Right here, right now, I’m willing to stick my neck out for the way the hot Bavarian hatch will go round corners.

Apart from the sublime chassis, suspension and steering setup, the new details regarding the engine that’s going into the F20 M135i make feel pretty confident about another aspect.

The bits in between the corners are simply going to be devoured thanks to a 3.0 liter straight six cylinder twin-turbo engine.

There have been a few rumors about it being a V6 but it seems that’s not the case, it’s still a “proper” BMW engine and it will be chucking out some 320 horsepower.

Remarkably, that’s (marginally) less than what Mercedes and Audi put in their hot hatchback these days. It is a shame, but the overall package of the upcoming M135i seems like the winner will still be wearing a BMW badge.

Which is just the way we like it. Oh by the way, the M135i will actually come with an xDrive option this time round.

According to sources quoted by with egmCarTech, BMW have recently held a clinic group study on the east coast and west coast to show owners a new entry-level hatchback.

The model, which will fit below the 1-Series (which is odd since I was thinking the 1 Series was going to be the smallest car they made unless they wanted to produce a 0), will feature traditional BMW styling in hatchback form and will be built on the company’s upcoming front-wheel-drive platform.

BMW purists shake at the hearing of these words, front wheel drive, what has this company come to? To be honest though, it might not be that bad as the revived Mini which is a BMW project is a great handling car.

Speaking of the Mini, the new generation of models will be sharing the basis of this small hatch FWD BMW entry-level and that basis will be the front-wheel-drive architecture the company is working on, according to BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer.

And as the next generation of Mini this new BMW is set to have a debut within the year 2014. Development boss Klaus Draeger has confirmed this and also mentioned that the size group for the new BMW will be in the same playing field with the Volkswagen Golf and the Scirocco.
