We have some good news for all the BMW customers and fans which were disappointed by the acceleration time of the new BMW M5 F10. If the Germans from BMW officially announced that the new model is able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,4 seconds, the American magazine Car & Driver said that the new M5 F10 is faster than the company says. To be more precise, Car & Driver reviewed the new BMW M5 and managed to do the 0-100 km/h sprint in 3,7 seconds.

This is not the first time when someone proves that a model within the range is faster than the company claims. However, this is not something that bad as finally the customers will be surprised to see that they got a faster car than they initially thought.

According to Car & Driver publication, the new BMW M5 does the quarter-mile in 12 seconds while the braking from 70 km/h to 0 is done in around 50 meters.

It seems that the Bavarians from BMW are planning to upgrade the braking system of the new BMW M5 (F10) by introducing high-performance carbon ceramic brakes. This statement has been made by Dr. Herbert Diess from BMW which makes it a certain information rather than a rumor. Of course, this does not mean that the current BMW M5 has issues with the braking system, the German company is only trying to take advantage of the joint venture with SGL Carbon, a company which is supplying carbon fiber components for the models in the range.

In order to obtain the best results, BMW will collaborate with the specialists from Brembo as well, the company following to design the new ceramic discs.

According to the company, fitting the new carbon ceramic discs to the current braking disc requires slightly larger wheels, at least 20-inch.

These details about the new carbon ceramic discs were confirmed by Herbert Diess for BimmerFile, the same German official claiming that we should see the new system close to the U.S. debut of the high-performance M5. It remains to be seen if the Germans will adopt the new system and most important if it will be available in the United States.

About five days ago, Hans, the president of the M Flight Club uploaded a video with the new BMW M5 F10 on the highway while pulling the model to its limits. The video below is shot on Autobahn 62 which means that the driver has broken no traffic regulations but we still recommend to drive safely and consider that at high speeds, no matter what vehicle you drive, everything gets way more dangerous.

The new BMW M5 is powered by a 4.4-liter V8 unit with M TwinPower Turbo which delivers a total of 560 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque, enough resources for a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,4 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.

The M5 model in question got rid of the speed limiter which lets the model to hit a top speed of 330 km/h. However, Hans managed to achieve a speed of ‘only’ 300 km/h due to the busy traffic.

The maximum power amount is available between 6,000 and 7,000 rpm while the torque from 1,500 rpm. The German sports model benefits from a seven-speed M DCT transmission with Drivelogic. Be sure to check the video posted above!

As we announced several times in our articles, BMW scheduled the world premiere of the new BMW M5 for the Frankfurt Motor Show which takes places these days. It is true that we already know almost all about the high-performance M version of the new 5 Series generation but we can’t ignore its premiere in Germany. Under the bonnet, the new BMW M5, codenamed F10, packs a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine which is also available for the BMW X5 M and X6 M.

The total output of the new M5 is rated at 560 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque at 1,500 rpm, enough resources for a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,4 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.

Impressive fuel efficiency is also available thanks to BMW’s fuel-saving technologies which improve the figures by around 30%. This means that the 560HP V8 engine will return an average fuel consumption of only 9,9 liters/100 km, decent figures for a high-performance model.

An eight-speed M dual-clutch transmission directs the power to the rear wheels while the M Driver’s Package will get rid of the 250 km/h limitation and will provide a top speed of 305 km/h.

Here are some photos with the safety car version of the new BMW M5 F10, a model specially designed for the MotoGP race at the Indianapolis, an event which took place few days ago. According to the official details, a number of 50 lucky enthusiasts had the opportunity to enter the BMW M Experience and take the new M5 F10 for a few laps in the safety car.

Of course, behind the steering wheel were professional drivers from BMW which also presented the model to the participants. Besides the special exterior color scheme and graphics, the MotoGP safety car also features new systems and technologies.

From the list we can enumerate the front spoiler lip, trunk spoiler, a new Akrapovic titanium race exhaust system, race brake pads, a new coilover suspension, Recaro bucket seats and of course a new set of 20-inch wheels in a black finish.

The American department of BMW decided to publish a new video with the M5 F10, this time the German model lapping the Laguna Seca circuit from California. Under the bonnet, the M model based on the current-generation 5 Series packs a 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine developing 560 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque. Mated to a seven-speed Double Clutch Transmission, the German model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,4 seconds hitting a top speed of 250 km/h.

Even so, the following video won’t show the new M5 trying to get the best lap time at Laguna Seca. The Germans highlighted the ride of the model along the roaring sound of the engine.

As mentioned above, the following video has been revealed by BMWUSA, somehow strange considering that the model in question is not available in the U.S. yet. More exactly, the Bavarians plan to introduce the new M5 F10 in the States somewhere next year.

With this been said, I invite you to watch the new M model on the American tarmac at Laguna Seca. Also notice the driver which somehow resemble with the famous Stig, as it wears a similar helmet.

BMW UK decided to reveal the pricing and availability details for the fifth generation M5, a model fully introduced few weeks ago. According to the official details, the new BMW M5 is priced from £73,040 in the UK while the German customers will have to pay €102,700 for the base model. The 2012 BMW M5 will enter the European showrooms on November 19 while the U.S. customers will have to wait until this fall to get the new German sport model and pricing details.

If we get deeper into the pricing details, we can see that the new M5 F10 is about £8,000 more expensive than the previous generation but don’t forget that you get what BMW calls “the most potent engine ever devised by BMW’s high-performance M division”.

Under the bonnet, the high-revving 4.4-litre V8 is able to produce 560 horsepower from 5750-7000rpm and 680 Nm of torque, making it the most potent series-production engine of the M division. As we previously mentioned, the new V8 unit which replaces the old V10 that fits the previous generation is able to provide 10% more maximum power and an increase of 30% in terms of peak torque.

Even the engine decreased, the new BMW M5 (F10) is still able to deliver improved performance being able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 4,4 seconds while the top speed is electronically limited at 250 km/h. According to the extended details revealed by BMW UK, the new M5 F10 features a low speed assistance function which will help in heavy traffic conditions, making the German model move smoothly with a single touch of the accelerator.

“For more than 25 years the BMW M5 Saloon has defined the high-performance saloon, in the process becoming the most successful car of its type in the world. Now a new fifth-generation model raises the concept of the premium executive saloon combining track-car dynamics and supreme touring comfort to an even higher level,” add the Germans.

According to the official information, more details about the new German model are going to be released soon, therefore, we have to keep an eye on the official web pages for further information until the model hit the showrooms. Even the U.S. pricing is not available yet, expect a starting price of around $85,000.

The Germans from BMW decided to reveal the first video of the new BMW M5 (F10), a footage which shows the German M model revving its engine at the Ascari Race Resort in southern Spain. We already discussed all the important facts and figures of the high performance model based on the current 5 Series generation but if you missed it you can read more here. The new M5 will debut this fall at the Frankfurt Auto Show but also later this week at the M Festival.

The pure M character of the German model is underlined in this video, the new M5 eating the tarmac and showing its special features worthy of an M model.

“Compelling track potential combines with the comprehensive practicality of a luxurious business saloon; groundbreaking character headlined by significantly improved efficiency, supreme long-distance comfort, and innovative driver assistance systems and infotainment functions,” says the official press release.

Under the bonnet, the new M5 F10 packs the newly developed BMW M high-performance engine, the 4.4-liter unit with M TwinPower Turbo which includes VALVETRONIC fully variable valve control, High Precision Injection, cross-bank exhaust manifold and also Twin Scroll Twin Turbo technology. The new V8 engine is able to produce 560 horsepower at 6,000 – 7,000 rpm while the maximum torque of 680 Nm is available from 1,500 rpm.

The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 4,4 seconds and 0 to 200 km/h in 13 seconds thanks to a fast but accurate seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic. The top speed of the new M5 is electronically limited at 250 km/h but it can be increased to 305 km/h if you opt for M Driver’s Package. Even with this noteworthy performance, the German model manages to create a balance between power and consumption, with an average fuel economy of 9,9 liters/100 km mainly thanks to the Efficient Dynamics, Brake Energy Regeneration and Auto Start-Stop systems.

The British department of BMW Group announced that the all-new BMW M5 F10 will be fully revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, an event which takes place in the UK between 1 and 3 July 2011. BMW UK released plenty details about what will happen at the event which starts early July, models such as the new BMW 1 Series M Coupe but also a 1936 BMW 328 roadster and 1972 BMW M1 Turbo Concept being ready to be revealed.

Moreover, few models within BMW’s range such as the M3 GTS and Z4 GT3 powered by a V8 unit will compete in the Goodwood hill climb.

Dirk Müller, the driver who achieved the third place at the 79th staging of the Le Mans 24 Hours race behind the steering wheel of a BMW M3 GT will be the one that will drive the BMW Z4 GT3 at Goodwood. As you probably know from the official details of the new BMW M5, the German model comes with a 4.4-liter turbocharged unit able to deliver 560 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque. The V8 unit is coupled to a seven-speed M Double Clutch transmission with Drivelogic which helps the model to get a fast shifting time allowing an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,4 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.

The online configurator for the new M5 F10 is available at the moment too, a variety of exterior and interior colors being on the list. To be more precise, the exterior finishes range includes Black Sapphire Metallic, Havanna Metallic, Silverstone II Metallic, Space Gray Metallic, Singapur Grau Metallic, Imperial Blue Brilliant and Monte Carlo Blau. At the interior you can opt for Sliverstone/Black Merino, Sakhir Orange/Black Merino and Black Merino with different trims such as Aluminum “Trace” or Ash Grain Brown.

In terms of pricing, the new BMW M5 starts at £73,040 in the UK while the model goes on sale this fall after the official debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show. “The fifth generation of the world’s most successful performance saloon, the BMW M5, will be seen for the first time at The Goodwood Festival of Speed 1-3 July 2011. Following the photo gallery leaked yesterday, the Bavarians from BMW released a full photo gallery of the new BMW M5 but also the key features of the new M model based on the current generation 5 Series. As expected, our previous assumptions on the unit that comes with the new M5 confirm while in terms of aesthetics, the high-performance model gets specific M styling components, nothing very impressive, a sign that BMW focused on what sits under the bonnet.

Comparing to the current BMW 5 Series, the new M5 F10 benefits from more imposing parts such as new front and rear bumpers, a quad-pipe exhaust system, a set of 19-inch alloy wheels, new boot lid spoiler and also air vents.

On the other hand, the new M5 F10 gets the same unit that fits the current X5 M and X6 M models within the range. We talk about a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 unit able to offer 560 horsepower from 6,000 to 7,000 rpm and 680 Nm of torque from 1,500 rpm. The previous generation M5 benefits from a bigger 5.0-liter V10 unit but it offers slightly less power, somewhere around 500 horsepower.

This means that the new eight-cylinder engine should deliver a better fuel consumption, the Germans claiming that it has been increased by around 30% to 9,9 liters/100 km (23,8 mpg US) and CO2 emissions of 232 g/km, meeting the Euro5 requirements. The V8 engine comes together with a seven-speed M Double Clutch transmission with Drivelogic which transfers the power to the rear wheels. The new BMW M5 F10 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,4 seconds while the top speed is limited at 250 km/h or 305 km/h if you opt for the M Driver’s package.

Making again a comparison of the new M5 with the previous generation, the power output has been increased by 10% and torque by 30% while, as mentioned above, the fuel economy is improved by 30%. These figures are great mainly considering that we talk about a 4.4-liter V8 instead a 5.0-liter V10, therefore, a better optimized unit.

In terms of technology, the new BMW M5 F10 benefits from all the latest innovations such as the M Drive system, Servotronic steering system, M suspension, a high performance braking system, Drivelogic, Dynamic Damper Control and more. For now, there is no pricing details available but very likely we will find more next week at the M Festival.
