While most of the carmakers are displaying their latest ride at the 2017 NAIAS, taking place in Detroit these days, on the other side of the world, Japan is also hosting an important auto event, held at the same time in Tokyo.

The 2017 Tokyo Auto Salon is a good opportunity for tuning companies worldwide to display their latest rides. One of those outstanding projects that needed to reveal itself was no other than 3D Design`s magnificent BMW M2 Coupe.

Displayed here in Pure Metal Silver, the BMW M2 Coupe is the real deal of the show, the model standing out from the crowd with a catchy carbon fiber aero kit and some one-off set of wheels.

The car`s aero kit comes handy with lots of important modifications, meaning that the model is now tweaking a carbon fiber reinforced polymer front lip spoiler, adding front canards, carbon fiber side skirts and new diffuser and spoiler. Other modifications also include new lowering springs and high-performance exhaust system.

The car`s new aero kit is complemented with the tuner`s choice of 19- or 20-inch Type III forged alloy wheels, which add more aggressive look.

The 2016 BMW M2 Coupe comes with a 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo inline flat-six engine, churning out 370 horsepower and 465 Nm of torque. This is enough to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds with a DCT and 4.5 seconds with the manual.

There are a lot of famous aftermarket shops out here that have developed a sixth sense when it comes to successfully customizing a BMW product, and one of those tuners is no other than Alpha-N Performance.

We have heard before about the gorgeous and exquisite tuning programs put together by the aftermarket specialists from Alpha-N Performance, especially on the hot baby-M brother.

The tuner`s kit involves the GTS aero kit, with lots of standout carbon fiber parts, up-to-date mechanics and the M4`s engine under the hood. Unfortunately for the powertrain, we don’t have the official numbers yet.

At the exterior, the BMW M2 GTS is standing out from the crowd with an impressive carbon fiber aero package, highlighted by the M4`s GTS carbon fiber bonnet, custom-built front spoiler, as well as carbon fiber roof panel and mirror caps. Let`s also not forget the rear diffuser with the same carbon infusion, along with a GTS-like rear wing for improved aerodynamics.

The overall new look is also complemented with the 20-inch BMW M Competition alloy wheels and the BMW M Performance black kidney grilles and side skirts, also seen on the BMW M4 GTS.

Besides the gorgeous carbon aero kit, the model has also received fine mechanics, like the Ohlins Road & Track adjustable coilover suspension which lowers the car`s ride height for increased stance, along with the M4 GTS ceramic brake discs.

As for performance under the hood, as aforementioned, we have reasons to believe that the M2 GTS is equipped with the M4`s high-performance engine, which is no other than the 3.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder, which now would develop a pure 450 horsepower.

Things are moving fast around the newest M member from BMW` s lineup, as we had the chance of seeing the M2 Coupe in a lot of tuning projects lately, not to mention rumors and renderings according to which the carmaker would spawn a hardcore version dubbed the CS, with power to come from a downsized 3.0-liter found on the M3 / M4.

We continue our saga of one-off customizations with another project carried out by technicians from Vossen Wheels tuner, which wrapped the gorgeous model with a set of their special flow-forged wheels.

As we can depict from the pictures, the engineers haven’t spoiled the car`s stock body styling all adorned with M parts, which make it look hot and aggressive.

To complement the gorgeous design, the tuner have installed the wide VSF-1 alloy wheels, sized 20×9 and 20×10.5 front and rear, all wrapped in the low-profile Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires. The ten-spoke silver styling looks smashing with the JW Clubsport coil-overs and suspensions system which lower the car`s ride height and provide a more aggressive look.

The 2016 BMW M2 Coupe comes with a 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo inline flat-six engine, churning out 370 horsepower and 465 Nm of torque. This is enough to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds with a DCT and 4.3 seconds with the manual.

A couple of days ago, the vibe of an upcoming BMW M2 Convertible was reaching the sky limits, with Dutch publication Autoblog.nl releasing what they called the official photos of the Convertible!

Even if the photos were questionable, there were also rumors according to which those sketches were actually designed by BMW engineers and stood at the very foundation of a future BMW M2 Convertible.

However, the rumor mill was not confirmed by BMW officials, more than that, Frank Isenberg, BMW executive, also denying the news:

“There will not be an M2 Convertible. We need to keep it as purist as we did with the 1 Series M Coupe. We’ve got such a nice M235i Convertible. And convertibles are not for racetracks, they’re for cruising. You can take that car on a racetrack as well, but you wouldn’t choose it for a track day. That’s the reason why we said no [to an M2 Convertible].”

Even so, BMW believers and interwebs were still fascinated by the idea of having an M2 Convertible and believed that every rumor would eventually lead to a production version.

Update: Aussie`s Car Advice auto magazine has recently interviewed Isenberg on the situation, with the engineer clearly pointing out, again, that the carmaker does not intend to produce an M2 Convertible.

And even if such a model would eventually hit the market, the costs involved would be minimal, considering that it would be fairly easy to chop-off the M2`s roof and change it with a soft-top. Stay tuned for more details on the BMW M2 Convertible, the rumor mill will surely unveil other fresh details!

If you think that the BMWM4 is old-school as opposed to the newly unveiled BMW M2 and hardcore BMW M4 GTS, think again! And you will need a lot of thinking before placing your bets on the best acting M model in the video below, put together by Carfection.

The video is called “Which Is the Best Car”? and confronts one of the most hottest M models from the lineup so far, the M2, M4 and M4 GTS, which is the latest to receive a big round of applause from BMW fans.

All of them come with sheer power and rather the same figures from 0 to 100 km/h. But each one comes with its own set of rules when engaging in a drag race.

The starting point would be the little brother M2 Coupe; well, “little brother” just on paper, as on the track or road it is a hell-of-a-car. It packs rather the same 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo straight-six inline engine, with 365 horsepower, while the M4, with the same mill, outputs 431 horsepower.

On the other hand, the BMW M4 GTS, the hardcore version of the M4, uses 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six with water injection system, which outputs a massive 493 horsepower. This one has the advantage of coming with carbon fiber body styling, lightweight wheels and a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in an amazing 3.7 seconds, way too fast than the M4`s 4.3 seconds and M2`s 4.1 seconds.

So who is the real winner? From what I stand, they are all winners and you can`t judge their impressive power just by driving on straight line. There is more to admire at all three of them!

Every M model within the BMW lineup deserve a convertible version and the real proof stands the BMW M4, this one coming with a soft-top roof version as well, and I have to admit that it looks fantastic.

Rumos with the upcoming of an M2 Convertible have been circulating on the web for some time now, and recently, a batch of images with the so called future model have been released online via Autoblog.

Of course that these are not real images, and were generated via a special computer program, but they are somehow connected to what an insider has claimed that the model would look like this.

This might come as a surprise to you, but allegedly, the aforementioned images are also the very foundation of what internationals within the group have talked and discussed.

With all that, representatives from BMW claim that there is no possibility of a future BMW M2 Convertible, at least not for now. This was declared back in February, with Frank Isenberg, BMW executive, denying the existence of an M2 Convertible. The reason is revealed from his own words below.

“There will not be an M2 Convertible. We need to keep it as purist as we did with the 1 Series M Coupe. We’ve got such a nice M235i Convertible. And convertibles are not for racetracks, they’re for cruising. You can take that car on a racetrack as well, but you wouldn’t choose it for a track day. That’s the reason why we said no [to an M2 Convertible].”

If, and only if, this were to happen, the BMW M2 Convertible would come without the standard roof and B-pillar, modified rear end to sustain the rood folding and some other slight body styling modifications.

Do you really think that BMW will eventually roll-out an M2 Convertible? From what I can recall, the M4 Convertible was also a secret plan, kept almost until its final release.

Manhart tuner is one of the most well-known on the market, with thousands of hot models to receive its special treatments. Over the years, we have seen plenty of BMW models getting their makeover at the tuner`s shop.

And with the recent introduction of the 2016 BMW M2 Coupe on the market, the technicians from Manhart have made a habit out of playing with this gorgeous and unique model.

All tweaked with the M Performance parts both at the exterior as well as inside, and especially under the hood, this one seen here is even more appealing to the eye with the tuner`s special ingredients.

This special project is dubbed the “MH2 630” and represents the tuner`s tribute of 30 years of existence on the market. The particular M2 was previewed last year in the first renderings, but now we have the first pictures with the model.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much to tell about the car`s specifications, but judging from the pictures, the model is coming with a fine and standout body kit, consisting of carbon fiber components on the hood, front splitter, or padded intakes.

The gold body wrap, which resembles to BMW Individual`s Sunburst Gold metallic paint as well as the new wheels, are making this M2 more exotic and extremely hot in the eyes of the beholders.

And since we are talking about Manhart, there is more to come under the hood, where we are expecting some fine tunes as well, around 630 horsepower, all squeezed out from the hardcore 3.0-liter six-straight turbo engine. Ever since its official unveiling at Laguna Seca, back in February, the 2016 BMW M2 Coupe has been the star of endless reviews, drive tests, drag races and many, with the model being exclusively built in a limited edition of around 5.000 cars for a period of five years.

Now, the 2016 M2 Coupe has reached the shores of South Africa, with a lot of journalists to perform additional drive tests in order to experience the car`s maneuverability and high-performance driving dynamics.

As we already know, the 2016 BMW M2 Coupe comes with an extremely hot and aggressive attitude, thanks to the M Performance Parts, highlighted by the wide air intakes, M gills, M tailpipes exhaust system or the 19-inch M double-spoke design wheels.

The M2 Coupe is also looking elegant with the BMW Twin circular headlights, air curtains in the outer air intakes or large front apron with the trapezoidal blades.

The interior is also highlighted by the M logo, like the M footrest and knee pad on the center console, M sports seats, M gearshift lever and door sills as well as the Alcantara blue stitching steering wheel with the shift paddles.

Under the hood, the 2016 BMW M2 Coupe in South Africa will use the same 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo inline flat-six engine, developing 272 kW and 500 Nm of torque, enough for a 4.3 second-sprint from 0 to 100 km/h, via a seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission. The topping also stands at an electronically limited 250 km/h. Besides the powerful engine and output, the model also comes with a lightweight aluminum M Sport suspension system which ensures all the necessary ingredients for the perfect ride.

It`s been a while since we last heard about a hardcore version of the 2016 BMW M2 Coupe, which would be the upcoming M2 CSL, said to be launched somewhere in 2017.

Now the model is returning into the spotlights through a recent rendering signed by Yasid Design, wearing a body styling with inspiration from the M3 CSL and bits borrowed from the Hommage Concept.

As for the body wrap, Yasi Design also choose the same blue paint job that can be seen on the current 2016 BMW M2 Coupe, which makes it quite spectacular and extremely hot. Later on, the BMW M2 CLS is also promised to be rendered wearing an M livery.

Once it will emerge on the market, the BMW M2 CSL will be built atop a lightweight architecture and feature an evolutionary and extremely aggressive design, leading the way to other hot and high-performance CLS variants.

According to past rumors, the 2017 BMW M2 CSL might come with a straight-six turbocharged petrol burner, developing more than 400 horsepower. Also, the fresh M2 CSL would feature the latest suspension and braking systems.

There is no doubt that for the moment, the 2016 BMW M2 Coupe remains the carmaker`s favorite star amongst stars.

We have seen the gorgeous sports car in hundreds of photos, reviews, popping-up on the web in all its exquisite colors, but from what I recall, we have never seen it wearing the M`s division signature. This lad here seen in the video below is showing us how mean it is when revving its engine.

Everybody is familiar with the plethora of goodies that the M Performance is bringing to any BMW, no matter how big or how small the BMW model is.

This BMW M2 M Performance packs a carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) aerodynamic kit, consisting of front and sill attachments, mirror caps, side sills, rear diffuser and rear spoiler, adding diffuser carbon mirror caps, M Performance radiator grille up front and side in high-gloss black with integrated BMW M logo.

Other M Performance parts also include the M Performance flap silencer exhaust system, the 80mm tailpipes, coil-spring suspension, sports brake pads, LED door sill cover strips, M Performance floor mats, Alcantara steering wheel and more.

In the stock form, the 2016 BMW M2 packs a 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine, with 370 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, hooked to a seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission, allowing a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, at a topping of 250 km/h.
