The Bavarians from BMW decided to release information and images with the new ActiveHybrid 5, the newest addition to the fuel-efficient range of models. As its name says, we talk about a hybrid variant of the new BMW 5 Series generation which is scheduled to hit the showrooms somewhere in March next year. According to the manufacturer, the new ActiveHybrid 5 is based on the 535i model which sports a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engine offering 300 horsepower.

In addition, BMW fitted an electric motor producing 55 horsepower, the power being channeled to the wheels by an eight-speed automatic transmission. The ActiveHybrid 5 is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5,7 seconds while an ECO Pro mode system helps the model to reduce the fuel consumption.

At speeds lower than 35 km/h, the lithium-ion battery can provide a fully electric driving range of 4 kilometers but of course this is not an impressive number. However, we know that this is not meant to be an electric model, the additional motor being there only to reduce the consumption.

For now, we have no details about the fuel consumption of the new BMW ActiveHybrid 5 but the Germans promised to release all the information soon.

We got some new details regarding the future of the ActiveHybrid range we would like to talk about. The BMW’s ActiveHybrid range currently including the X6 SUV and 7 Series will benefit from two new models to join the list of hybrid Bavarian models.

The closer one is the ActiveHybrid 5 rumored to be revealed somewhere next year while the ActiveHybrid version of BMW 3 Series is expected somewhere in 2012, thus, the next generation 3 Series might include a hybrid model.

All these assumptions are fed also by few statements made by Dr. Norbert Reithofer back in May this year, through which we can achieve that the ActiveHybrid range will be extended soon but also the Megacity project will take shape somewhere later in 2013. The statements in question were made by BMW’s Chairman at the 90th Annual General Meeting of BMW AG which took place at the BMW’s headquarter in Munich, Germany, few months ago.

If someone would ask me my favorite ActiveHybrid after something like 6 months, it would probably be this BMW ActiveHybrid 5 because I love the BMW 5 Series but at the same time I love the hybrids built by BMW so this would be in the top of my favorite BMW cars.

I also know that there is just one week left until the release at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show. I would also like to tell you that at the moment, this BMW ActiveHybrid 5 remains a concept comparing to BMW ActiveHybrid 7 or BMW ActiveHybrid X6.

People are expecting from this BMW ActiveHybrid 5 to come with a 3.0 liter turbocharged straight-six engine and of course that if it is a hybrid, that engine is combined with a 40 kW electric engine which makes this car to be a perfect city car but also a good car to travel with.

Some people may think that it’s a bit abnormal to but a hybrid car on a dyno to see how powerful can be that car but if we also say the thing that we talk about a BMW SUV and also a BMW X6, then it starts to be normal because there is no BMW big car that is not powerful.

Anyway, this is not the single fact that makes us believe this is so normal, we also know that BMW said that this is the most powerful hybrid ever built until now and I could say this without for BMMW to say before me.

Anyway, the results after the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 showed us that this car is able to develop up to 368 horsepower and also a maximum torque of 402 lb-ft so I think if you will drive such a car, you won’t even feel that you’re driving a hybrid car.

The doubts or rumors or any other way you want to call it are gone. As you can see in the title, the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 is going to debut at the Geneva auto and I think they did a great job by building another ActiveHybrid and also a great job because they thought at the 5 Series.

In March, at the Geneva auto show, the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 will be present as a concept but the European market is waiting for it shortly after releasing the car at that auto show. Anyway, there are still no information for the USA citizens.

If this news will not be true, from the 5 Series at the Geneva auto show will be present only the 535i and also the 550i as they previously intended to do. I must say that I would rather buy an ActiveHybrid 5 than an “old” ActiveHybrid 7.

I consider this news very bad and awful and not because I would like to buy a BMW ActiveHybrid 7 but for those people who intend to buy a BMW ActiveHybrid 7. Why? Because I like to consider that we are all equals and with the news that first will be available only for VIPs, it makes me feel bad.

Anyway, if you are a VIP this should be very great news especially if you are a BMW fan, now you’re able to get your own BMW ActiveHybrid 7 but I doubt that a VIP would have enough time to read blogs.

Anyway, I have to remind you that this is not a full electric car but it is still doing a very big favor to our planet because it is using electric engines but these are combined with a fuel consumption engine so that even if it is a hybrid, it will be very powerful.

These are great news and as I get used to say when it’s the case, few people talked about this aspect and they didn’t include it in titles so I did this for you hopefully that more people will talk about it so more BMW fans will find out this news.

It was pretty expected this but I thought few time about it and probably I didn’t mention this on BMWcoop blog. The new 2011 BMW 5 Series ActiveHybrid 5 will come with two variants of hybrids. The first one will include the hybrid system from BMW ActiveHybrid 7 and the second one will include hybrid system from BMW ActiveHybrid X6.

You can consider this the third ActiveHybrid or better said, you can call it BMW ActiveHybrid 5 and the car will be launched next year, probably just like the 2010 BMW 5 Series, at the end of the year so there is some time to wait for it.

This is one of the most luxury unreleased cars from what I see and I have to tell you that I realized that this new BMW ActiveHybrid 7 is very similar to the latest BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo and the aspect is almost identic, anyone can notice this fact.

Anyway, this will still be a great car, and at the same time, it will be very unique. As I said in the title and also in another post, BMW ActiveHybrid 7 has been presented at the L.A. Auto Show and you can see some pictures with this car at that Auto Show in this post.

This new BMW ActiveHybrid 7 is so close to be launched into the international market and more exactly, this will happen in the spring of the next year. At the moment we have to say that we know all the details about this hybrid so now we have to wait just few months until the release.

BMW X6 ActiveHybrid is the first full-hybrid of BMW. This hybrid accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph. This is a very heavy car but considering that it is a SUV and probably the electric motors are also quite heavy. The transmission is a 7 speed automatic gearbox.

BMW ActiveHybrid X6 got a 4.4 liter twin turbocharged V8 engine. It is also more cheaper at fuel economy with 20 percent less as the standard models. Having two electric motors, it develops 480 hp and 575 lb-ft of torque. Considering that is an ActiveHybrid, it is quite impressive the developed power.

It can travel using only the electric engines up top 37 miles per hour. If you want to save the planet but at the same you would like some great power from your car, BMW X6 ActiveHybrid would be the perfect choice. I don’t really know if BMW X6 ActiveHybrid got solar panels, but if it does, this car would be more than perfect.
