After the BMW 2-Series Coupe was unveiled a few months ago, as the successor of the 1-Series Coupe, the forthcoming BMW 2-Series Cabrio was caught on camera while undergoing some tests, without the sportscar wearing some camouflage.

The BMW 2-Series Cabrio is going to successfully carry on with the legacy of the 1-Series, the Cabrio version of course, since it is announced to be sportier and tweak more high-tech gear.

The BMW 2-Series will still receive the engine lineup as well as the high-tech equipment from the hatchback version, being rumored though to come only with the 2.0-liter gasoline unit, developing 150 horsepower, 177 horsepower, while the turbocharged diesel will receive more throttle, which is around 214 HP.

The engine lineup of the upcoming BMW 2-Series will be hooked to the conventional 6-speed manual or to the optional and more performance 8-speed automatic.

The BMW 2-Series is also said to come with an all-wheel drive system xDrive. The good news however, is that the sporty vehicle will be publicly displayed this summer.

The long-awaited BMW 2-Series Cabrio might hit the dealership sooner than expected since it was caught on camera in some light camouflage by photographers from Inautonews publication.

It was definitely a logical step to follow the footsteps of the Coupe version, when photos with the 2-Series Cabrio first appeared, and now spied shots reveal the same features it will sport, taken from its Coupe sibling.

As seen in the shots, the BMW 2-Series Cabrio will come with some slight modifications around the camouflaged areas, such as at the front fascia, at the rear end, or around the taillights and the headlights.

As far as the interior concerns, we might be talking about the same one found on the 2-Series Coupe.

Don’t expect that the engine lineup or the technologies and performances of the 2-Series Cabrio to be different than the ones fond on the Coupe.

Why spoil something that has already proven its efficiency? Thus, we might be talking about four-cylinder units like the 2.0-liter gasoline, developing 150 horsepower, 177 horses and also 218 ponies.

More than that, the BMW 2-Series Cabrio will also come equipped with a turbocharged diesel unit that outputs 214 horsepower.

Expect a six-speed manual transmission with an optional eight-speed automatic system on all units, along with the all-wheel drive system seen on the xDrive.

The BMW 2-Series was recently revealed to the public and right now, the German based manufacturer is planning a Cabrio version to be launched at the end of 2014.

The fresh new 2-Series Cabrio would be the follower of the 2-Series lineup. The Cabrio will be launched at the end of the year after being put to tests in the cold parts of Europe.

The BMW 2-Series Cabrio will actually be the next-in-keen of the 1-Series Cabrio, whose production was stopped last year due to bad sales.

The fresh-new BMW 2-Series Cabrio is supposed to be larger than the 1-Series, coming with a foldable soft top. The platform it shares would be the same with the two-door coupe sibling`s, in terms of design and engine lineup.

The BMW 2-Series Cabrio will likely to be unveiled at the 2015 New York International Auto Show, taking place in Detroit.

More details about the engine and tweaks inside will be rendered at the moment of the 2-Series launching.

The new BMW 2 Series Convertible hits once again the streets, still wearing a thick layer of camouflage but with the top down. We’ve seen several spy shots with models being tested in quite though conditions, mostly in Northern countries.

The Germans at BMW decided to take advantage of the sunny days and test the main selling point of the open-top model.

There is no deny that the upcoming BMW 2 Series Convertible looks quite good with the roof down but we still wait to see more skin and get a better overview.

Under the hood expect to see both petrol and diesel units with outputs ranging from 150hp to 218hp. A six-speed manual transmission will be offered as standard while a more sophisticated eight-speed automatic one will be there to cover your needs.

An official debut of the German model is expected to happen later this year, at the Frankfurt Auto Show.
