The Autobild German magazine has recently compared the BMW i3 with the Nissan Leaf and the Volkswagen e-Golf, the models being put face to face in an all-in one comparison, concerning prices, the cabin noise as well as the electric range.

First to be reviewed was the Nissan Leaf, that was declared the best-selling electric car in the history, managing to sell 110,000 units starting with 2011.

Secondly, the Volkswagen e-Golf is the company`s first electric vehicle to start production this fall, forecasting records in the near future, while the BMW i3 is the only model to be considered the number one product worldwide, especially in the US.

In terms of prices, the BMW i3 costs 36,310 euros, being 1,300 euros more expensive than the Nissan Leaf, while the VW e-Golf is available under 35,000 euros.

The noise inside the cabin was also tested, the VW e-Golf recording 68 decibels, while the i3 and the Leaf came out with only 78 decibels.

Talking about the design, the e-Golf`s body is rather conventional with its five passenger-seats, while i3 comes with a futuristic design.

Concerning driving range, the same Autobild stated that the i3 electric has the longest range, with 105 miles from its 22 kWh battery pack, while the e-Golf finished second with 102.5 miles from a 24.2 kWh battery pack.

Do the math and decide for yourself which one managed to suit your needs.

By now, most car enthusiasts know about the BMW 2-Series, with some spy shots circulating on the internet. It is basically a 4 door 1-Series.

Right now we know about the BMW 2-Series that it will be available in coupe and cabriolet version. But what if there are more models available down the road?

Well, the busy artists from AutoBild decided that a BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe is a must, as to combat the vehicle range of their German competitors, Mercedes-Benz and Audi. And so they released a rendering with what they think this 2-Series Gran Coupe would look like.

If BMW were to follow the tradition of previous Gran Coupes, the 2-Series model will deliver the same level of quality, with premium options, mixing the BMW performance with the practicality of a family car. And who knows, maybe even the M division will pitch in and give a little special attention to this (for now) rumored vehicle.

With the announced coupe and cabrio versions of the 2-Series due 2014, it will be a while before we will hear anything about a Gran Coupe, but we will keep an eye out for it.

I couldn’t say for sure what was under the Chrstimas Tree on the 25th at Autobild but I’m sure they had a lot of fun the days after since the got to write this up.

The famed German magazine took some of BMW’s finest vehicles and lined them up at Sachsenring for a few hot laps and some fun.

We don’t know much about the fun part, but the lap times have produced some pretty interesting results, both for BMW lovers and number loving geeks.

Bear in mind that Autobild didn’t mess about and try the diesel BMW 1 Series or anything of the likes. They’ve stuck to quite the recipe, not using anything other than M division creations.

The list of vehicles they had up for runs is quite the impressive one and includes the following vehicles:

Obviously, the front runners are very close and we once again see just how capable the new M5 is.

In other remarkable notices, the X6 and X5 SAVs have managed to beat the older version of the M5, making a serious point for the sort of performance these cars can manage.

According to some reports from German magazine Autobild, the BMW Megacity will see its official debut at the 2011 Franfurt Motor Show.

To be honest, I may have gotten a bit more excited than necessary as by then the Bavarians will be showing us the first prototype of the Project I Megacity Car.

Still, the Frankfurt automotive event just got a bit more interesting and is going to be eagerly awaited by BMW fans with this in mind.

The actual production version of the Megacity will be arriving at a much later date, 2013 being mentioned but quite possibly, still the same motor show will house its launch.

While that remains to be seen there are still a few bits of information we, BMW fans, can enjoy as some sources are saying that the new car will be completely new, sharing no parts with other BMW brethren and thus becoming unique in its own right.

The BMW Megacity will feature a carbon fiber structure, will be full-electric, will be available in three body styles (four-seater, two-seater and a sports car) and will be built in Leipzig.

According to BMW targets the car is expected to sell around 150.000 units every year.
