Even if BMW hasn’t officially introduced all the 5-Series range at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, it will soon have the chance of doing so at the upcoming 2017 NAIAS, which is set to debut in Detroit, this month.

We are looking here at BMW`s hybrids, which comprise the already previewed 530e iPerformance, the as well as the X5 xDrive40e iPerformance. It will also add the new i3 and i8, and the 540i xDrive .

The models will join the rest of the BMW fleet, meaning the X2 Concept, and other cool models that will be officially introduced in Detroit.

Under the hood, the BMW 5-Series 530e iPerformance will feature a conventional 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired to an electric motor, the entire drivetrain delivering 252 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. This allows a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds, at a top speed of 235 km/h. In terms of fuel-consumption, the 530e iPerformance burns out just 2l / 100 km, while the CO2 emissions stand at 46 g/km. The lithium-ion battery pack also allows a capacity of 9.2 kWh, providing a driving range of 47 km, at a top speed of 140 km/h.

On the other hand, the 540i xDrive will come with a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, with 335 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, enough to deliver a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. On the other hand, the M550i xDrive comes with 456 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque, as well as a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds.

BMW revealed the all-new 5-Series lineup about a month ago with a lot of amazing videos and photos highlighting the gorgeous models in all their plenitude. Now, we have the chance of seeing in flesh the top of the line M550i xDrive, thanks to folks from BimmerToday.

As we can depict from the spy photos of the model sitting quietly in a park lot, the M550i xDrive is camouflaged around the sides, hiding the M badges and the Mediterranean Blue Metallic. Even so, we could actually depict that we are dealing with the more potent version from the 5-Series.

Another important hint that we are dealing here with the new M550i xDrive is the fact that it lacks the 19-inch Cerium Grey M-Wheels and the Cerium Grey exterior mirror housings, which usually depict a pre-production version of the new model.

Anyway, the model looks aggressive with the M Sport package, which is a common thing to all models from the M lineup, comprising exquisite features like bespoke front spoiler with wide air intakes, new rear deck lid spoiler, rectangular tailpipes and so on.

Inside, even if we don’t have any official images, the interior will come with a three-spoke leather steering wheel, aluminum pedal covers and footrest, bespoke floor mats, SensaTec dashboard and other features which are common to the rest of the 5-Series lineup.

In the engine department, the M550i xDrive packs a 4.4-liter biturbo V8 engine, with 462 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque, enough to deliver a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.0 seconds.

Each version from the newly-unveiled 2017 G30 BMW 5 Series comes with advanced aerodynamics, exquisite exterior and interior design and the latest technology under the hood. There are variants designed for driving pleasure and others especially built for adrenaline rush; and the top of the line M550i xDrive is the perfect model to take for a spin at high speeds.

First, the G30 M550i xDrive stands out from the crowd with the exquisite design, highlighted by the M aerodynamic package with one-off features – extremely wide air inlets, special accents in Cerium Grey, kidney grille with distinctive frame, one-off mirror caps, model designation, as well as the 19- or the 20-inch alloy wheels.

In the engine department, the G30 M550i xDrive is a real beast, the high-end version using the carmaker`s latest M Performance TwinPower Turbo eight-cylinder petrol engine, which is 100% pure adrenaline. The engine sound is so impressive and powerful that it could give you shivers down the spine, especially since it packs the high-performance M Sport exhaust system. The power output stands at a whopping 462 horsepower, allowing a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.0 seconds.

Even if we are dealing with an extremely powerful version, the M550i xDrive also comes with a good fuel-efficiency of a combined 8.9L/100 km, while the CO2 emissions stand at 204 g/km.

Besides the impressive powertrain, the model also features advanced mechanics. The performance figure is also possible thanks to the new Adaptive M suspension system, which lowers the car`s ride height by 10 mm, along with the M Sport brake for maximum deceleration, or the Adaptive M Suspension Profession which can be had as optional and which increases the car`s driving dynamics.
