The BMW i8 sports car was recently put against the Corvette Stingray in a drag race, with the event also to be highlighted in a video.

We are talking about an amateur video that have caught the two supercars competing against each other in an interesting drag race.

To be a reminder, the BMW i8 “green” sports car is taking its power from a hybrid synchronous motor under the hood, developing 131 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque.

The synchronous motor is also backed by an I3 1.5-liter turbo unit, developing an additional 228 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque, outputting a total of 357 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque.

On the other hand, the 2015 Corvette Stingray is powered by a huge 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine, outputting a great 460 horsepower, hooked to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

As previously rumored, it is now official that the BMW German based automaker will manufacture a new green supercar, which will be the i8`s sibling, the M1 sportscar.

The BMW M1 will use the same technology already used on the i8 supercar and is supposed to hit the market in a couple of years.

Even if there is now official statement so far, it is believed that the BMW M1 will be much more powerful than the i8, meaning that the supercar will get an upgraded 4.4-liter TwinTurbo Power V8, which will develop somewhere between 600 HP and 650 HP, backed by an electric motor with no details so far.

With this amount of power, it is more than sure that the BMW will compete with the upcoming Lamborghini Huracan, the Ferrari 458 Italia and even the McLaren 650S.

The details list with the BMW M1 are for the moment limited, but we should expect soon an official report from BMW.

The present BMW i8 supercar is powered by 1.5-liter three-cylinder unit, backed by a hybrid synchronous motor, outputting a total of 357 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque.

The BMW i8 is that particular ride that stands forward due to its futuristic design and the technology it enhances inside and under the hood.

The BMW i8 is also in to the spotlights again, this time we are talking about a tuned version of the famous model that hit the web in some photos.

Even if the BMW i8 was unveiled last year, there are still aftermarket specialists that work closely with the German automaker to produce different custom and special models, like this i8 seen in the photos.
