October ended sufficiently long ago for the sales numbers to be available for this month that passed. In short, things really look good for BMW..

If it’s detail that worries you, it shouldn’t be a major concern since things look pretty good when under the microscope as well.

Unsurprisingly, it’s once again the Asian market that really put the Bavarians over the top in terms of units shifted in October.

Since the Japanese car makers are facing a bit of a crisis in China, German car makers, our favorite included, got a bit of an unexpected boost.

2012’s October saw BMW sell 157.618 units overall, which, by comparison to last year’s 139.284 units means the increase was 13.2 percent.

When doing the sums for the entire year, the growth so far is 8.8%. Not only is that nothing to snuff at, it makes for a brand new record overall.

The first 10 months of 2012 saw BMW manage to sell a total of 1.493.153 units which is somewhat nearer to the round figure of 1.5 million.

Certainly happens when compared to last year’s 1.371.903 units. Ian Robertson, Member of BMW’s Board of Management was the first to talk about the result.

There’s a natural moment of joy with the results and particularly the growth, but he didn’t want to say things are easy.

Yes, China, and Asia in general, offered a good source of sales, but so did the Americas whereas Europe is still considerably lagging behind its brethren continents.

Ah well, I suppose we can’t all be doing as well as BMW.

It’s another success story from the BMW Group’s sales department. April’s first week with us has been rather uneventful but it did bring along a new batch of results.

The 2012 Q1 results of the BMW Group once again have the word “record” attached to the title since it’s the best first quarter the Bavarians got so far.

As usual, the Mini and Rolls Royce brands had their say in the affair but we all know what the biggest slice of the pie is, our beloved BMW roundel.

In short, total sales over the first three months of 2012 saw the BMW Group shift more than 400.000 units. That amounts to a bump of 10% over last year’s previous record.

The considerable growth was achieved mostly thanks to two markets of tradition for BMW. China and the US market both had a respectable bump.

The American market was up 16.6% reaching 75.729 deliveries and what’s interesting is that one model is credited with having had this effect.

It’s obviously the newly introduced F30 BMW 3 Series. Alongside the new kid on the block, the X range SAVs and the F10 BMW 5 Series proved worthy children of the company.

Oddly enough, the growth BMW obtained in China is a lot more ambiguous than that. The press release mentions a “double digit” growth rate for Q1 2012.

At least they’ve told us they managed to shift “more than” 75.000 units to the Asian superpower. It’s still nowhere near hard accurate fact but it’s better than the percentage situation.

More growth is expected in Q2 as the BMW X1 hit the US market and the F30 LWB hit the Chinese one.

It seems like our favorite German manufacturer doesn’t have to worry about its future any time soon. Why? Because we just got last months figures in.

In terms of sales, January 2012 went very well for BMW as they managed a 6.6% increase when compared to the first month of last year. This is great news as most markets are shrinking.

We should point out that the rise we’re talking about is for the entire BMW Group, not just the core brand. No worries, when breaking things down, the sales figures and rate of growth are still positive.

BMW’s core brand sales managed an increased of a respectable 5.9% as they scrambled to shift some 96.183 units towards their customers.

Star players in this growth were mostly coming from the brand’s SAV range with anything from the BMW X1, to the X6 being on the rise.

Of these, the most successful player was the recently refreshed X3 which managed a whopping 56.2% boost for a total of 9.348 units in January.

Getting with the “regular” sort of cars, the big success here was by far the recently refreshed F20 BMW 1 Series which gained a sales boost of 20%.

The Mini brand sold 11.6% more cars making for a total of 15.768 units and Rolls Royce as ever registered some amazing increases in percentage, but mostly due to small numbers to begin with.

No surprises for seeing the biggest market growth happen in China and the United States at 30.5% and 5.8% respectively.

This time however it’s a little surprise to see China still on top as even that market has shrunk for the first time in several years.
