If you own an E70 BMW X5 with 8-cylinder engine which was produced between October 2006 and March 2010 you have to go to the nearest BMW Dealer because your BMW has issues with power brake failure.

Your E70 BMW X5 has a problematic vacuum hose and the brake power steering can fail because of that. You are prone to accident and we highly recommend to go as soon as possible at your nearest dealer as also I said above.

BMW is recalling more than 30,000 BMW X5 and will carry out all the costs and going to solve this unpleasant problem of your car.

Errare humanum est. It’s the simplest of excuses one would see from somebody making a mistake, be it a friend or a multinational company.

BMW is one of the latter and though they don’t have the attitude that quotes a bit of a cliche, but they did make a mistake on their E70 BMW X5.

Somewhere along the lines, a bunch of such SAVs were produced that may be subject to problems with their power steering systems.

The situation affects the E70 BMW X5 xDrive, but particularly the 35d version. That’s the 3.0 liter force fed diesel engine powered one.

In particular this flaw might be seen on model years ranging under the 2009 and 2012 model years. That’s a big time span and as a result, some 29.800 units in the US are affected by the problem.

As far as we’re able to understand, the root of the issue is the engine belt idler pulley bolt. After a while, this bolt might loosen and, possibly, break with time.

If the bolt becomes worn enough to loosen and break, it will lead to a loss of power steering. If that happens, the problem is quite obvious.

A heavier steering and uncertain moment at the wrong time could end up in leading the driver towards a crash. Despite this, the NHTSA isn’t yet involved in the recall.

BMW have announced that the recall itself will begin early next year and have set up a line for customers to check if their car is affected.

It’s a question that’s been bugging me for a while now. It’s happened since pretty much the first second I had seen this ungodly creation.

Obviously, the X5, in all its E70 SAV-ishnes isn’t the isn’t the sort of vehicle that was designed with such a major modification planned in its life at any point, but that’s not my concern.

Nor is the fact that it looks out of place no matter what you do with it. My question is this, would a BMW enthusiast accept to ride in it?

After all, a limo is embarrassing no matter what vehicle it is. Would the BMW badge make it more bearable?

Moving on, would you go even further and do some driving? Would you sit behind the wheel of this and get out the other end without dying in shame?

When you sit down and think about it, there’s no better driving SUV than the X5 and nor is there anything this big that doesn’t feel clunky.

I’m almost accepting this sacrilegious creation that’s based on the E70 X5. I’m actually willing to drive it, as long as I don’t have to admit to ownership.

It’s actually the ownership changing hands that brought this car to our attention. The thing is now for sale, so it hit public attention quite unusually.

The pricing is set at $43.500, a good deal less than the 65.000 USD it cost to make. A car offering seating for 15 is quite the family car.

That bar in the middle might be tricky to handle but at 21.500 miles traveled it’s quite the incredible offer.

We love it when good and great news comes from BMW but some times some less than good news sneaks through such as this occasion.

The current E70 BMW X5 and its less practical sister car E71 X6 are going to get recalled for a rather serious issue in the near future.

Both cars have some problems with the steering. It probably won’t fail as such but there’s a good chance of it ending up leaking fluids.

There may have been a problem during the manufacturing process and it seems that the aftermath of the issue could be quite burly.

Due to a machining error of the steering gear surface power steering fluids could leak onto the exhaust.

When that’s cold, there’s no potential problem but last we heard, exhausts are usually very hot and there’s a serious fire hazard that results from the equation.

As a result, by the middle of July 2012 some unlucky 2.642 BMW owners will have to make an unscheduled visit to their dealers.

The recall affects only the newest of models, 2012-2013 MY BMW X5 and X6s only, hence the relatively small number of cars that are to be recalled.

Once called in, the BMW mechanics will inspect the steering fixtures and make any necessary replacements to the faulty ones.

As always in such conditions, the BMW X5/X6 recall will cost owners no money and their only inconvenience will be the time spent in the service.

We all know how “expensive” time can be but I’d certainly spend one or two hours in a service than risk the chance of catching fire at one point.
