Australia is the latest market to receive the gorgeous new 2019 BMW M2 and M5, both models arriving locally with the Competition Package.

Each one comes with its own choices in terms of design and interior highlights. What is also interesting, according to Aussie magazine PerformanceDrive, the BMW M5 Competition is the most powerful M5 ever built.

Compared to the standard models, the Competition package brings forward more M goodies on the outside and inside, while under hood, the engine has received a power boost as well.

Already for sale in Australia, the 2019 BMW M2 Competition is available with an entry-level variant called the Pure ($99,900) and adds up the top of the line Competition ($104,900). As for the new M5 Competition, this one comes just in one version, and is priced at $229,900.

But what does each model bring fresh compared to the standard ones?

We`ll start with the 2019 BMW M2 Competition, which is offered with the Pure entry-level and top variant not-Pure one. It rather wears the same styling bits as the standard model, yet it features updated front and rear bumpers and new wheels.

On the other side, the non-Pure variant is even more tweaked with one-off 19-inch alloy wheels wrapping 245/35 and 265/35 Michelin Super Sport tires, along with black front grilles and window trimmings, updated suspension system, or 12-speaker Harman/Kardon high-performance sound system inside the cabin.

In the engine department, both variants of the M2 Competition come with same S55 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine borrowed from the M4, now developing 302 kW and 550 Nm of torque. This allows a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h 4.4 seconds if hooked to the standard six-speed manual, and 4.2 seconds with the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Moving to the 2019 BMW M5 Competition, this is highlighted by the same black exterior accents, along with new suspension system which lowers the car`s ride height by 7 mm. There is also the new set of springs that are 10 percent stiffer, adding adaptive dampers which provide better stance and grip. The model also got the 20-inch forged alloy wheels, wrapped in 275/35 and 285/35, front and rear, respectively.

The BMW M5 Competition also comes as the most powerful M model ever built. The car features a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, with 460 kW and massive 750 Nm of torque, paired to an eight-speed automatic with switchable all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is also covered in a mind-blowing 3.3 seconds.

Even if the all-new BMW M5 is considered one of the most important models from the carmaker`s entire M range, thanks to exquisite design and most importantly, by raw power and performance under the hood, the high-end model is expected to be equipped with the Competition Package as well, meaning greater juice underneath the skin and new tweaks to the car`s chassis.

First announced last year in September and later on in December 2017, the M5 Competition Package will follow the footstep of the M4 Competition Package, with some important upgrades that won`t resume to just carbon ceramic brakes.

According to some new reports, the all-new BMW M5 Competition Package might be premiered in April. The greatest news is that it will pack a raw 625 horsepower, meaning 25 horsepower more over the stock 2018 BMW M5.

On top of that, the new 2018 BMW M5 Competition Package will also arrive with a number of new tweaks that will differentiate it from the factory model.

If the BMW M4 Competition Package received last year the company`s new Adaptive M Suspension, dampers, anti-roll bars and new springs, the 2018 M5 Competition will add updated shocks and a set of new alloys, along with some subtle changes inside. Of course, the option list is much bigger and the company will come back with more information on that.

Back to the car`s power, the M5 Competition Package will arrive with 625 horsepower as aforementioned, meaning improved performance figures. And even if we don’t have any details on that, we expect an improvement of around 0.2 seconds over the stock`s standstill of 3.2 seconds. So, how does 3.0 seconds sound to you?

As a reminder, BMW M CEO Frank Van Meel, said for Road and Track magazine last year that customers had been asking and waiting for an M5 Competition Package for a long time and it would be just a matter of time until the model arrived on the market ready to tackle the performance of its rival – the Mercedes-Benz E 63 S AMG.

Following the footsteps of the M4`s Competition Package high-end version, the recently unveiled 2018 BMW M5 at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, has also been confirmed to wear the company`s exclusive Package, arriving on the market somewhere next year.

The news was confirmed by Motor1 publication, with Andy Cook, BMW product executive, declaring that the M5 Competition Package would come with some additional changes at the exterior and inside, over the standard model. This means “tweaked dynamics, and likely standard ceramic brakes – which are a $10,000 option on the standard car.”

However, rumors also have it that the 2018 BMW M5 Competition Package will bring new more than just carbon ceramic brakes.

Some of the additional tweaks might be exactly the same found on the M4 Competition Package, like Adaptive M Suspension with new springs, anti-roll bars and dampers. Of course, there is also the possibility of adding new and more standout alloy wheels.

As for the car`s engine and performance, there aren`t fresh details concerning chances. This means the same motorization as the standard 2018 BMW M5.

As a reminder, the 2018 BMW M5 comes equipped with a 4.4-liter V8 engine, with 600 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque. This allows a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a staggering 3.4 seconds, while the quarter mile is done in 11.1 seconds. The high-end model is paired as well to a high-performance eight-speed automatic transmission and a brand-new all-wheel drive system. The top speed is also set at 250 km/h, but can be raised to 305 km/h, if equipped with the M Driver`s Package.

There`s been often challenges that have put head-to-head magnificent models from both BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The latest video review comes from Car Advice and involves the gorgeous BMW M4 with Competition Package against the top notch predator Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe.

The video is trying to highlight the main characteristics that each model is coming with, also taking a look at their advanced aerodynamics and mechanics. Each one was properly driven and tested out by Chris Atkinson who then detailed each and gave the proper feedback. But in the end, it is up to you to decide which one is the best, if there is such thing as “THE” best.

Starting with the BMW M4 with Competition Package, the model comes with the standard 3.0-liter I6 twin-turbo engine but now modified to churn out 444 horsepower and 40 lb-ft of torque. With the launch control, Atkinson managed to pull a lap time of 00:54.380.

On the other side, the Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe, which was designated a better car than the M4 by the same Car Advice, packs a higher 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, with 503 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, which practically makes it the main winner of our track test. However, with traction control in Race mode, it managed a lap time of 00:55.080, giving the M4 a slight advantage ahead of it. The car oversteered during corners and that cost Atkinson some a couple of tenths.

The M6 Coupe from BMW is from the start an impressive and power model, yet in the hands of aftermarket specialists it can blow your mind with different power stages.

It is also the case of the below BMW M6 Convertible which comes with the Competition Package, making it a real monster from the start.

In the stock variant, this exquisite sports car packs a 4.4-liter V8 engine with 600 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, but thanks to the new power kit by German technicians from G-Power, it can now come with an enormous 800 horsepower and whopping 1.050 Nm of torque.

All these are possible to the hefty modifications added to the car`s power under the hood. And as usual, the tuner have also provided the prices tags for their new pieces. To make things complete, the technicians have also added the coilover suspension system (2,376 euros) and the new forged alloy wheels (7,649 euros). This brings the whole power package to a total of 29,632 euros.

Ever since its unveiling on the market last year, the all-new Alfa Romeo Giulia has been a real nightmare to the BMW M3 Sedan, especially the top of the line Giulia QV.

Lots of reviews, official tests, drag races and videos have demonstrated already what the Giulia`s QV can do against the M3, and all that thanks to the car`s impressive power and torque.

Motor Trend auto magazine, which is well-known for its fair drive tests, has pulled over the M3 and decided to take an M3 with Competition Package for a change, and put it against the same Alfa Romeo Giulia QV, hoping that this time, the odds would be on the German`s side. The entire test was recorded on tape and can be seen below.

Initially, the test also comprised two other smashing cars, like the Mercedes-AMG C63 and the Cadillac ATS-V, but since our eyes were on the M3 and Giulia QV, we considered that these two deserved our best attention. As for the rest of it, you can find out more from the video put together by Motor Trend magazine.

The test carried out by the famous magazine highlighted the gorgeous driving capabilities that the M3 with the Competition Package is coming with, making the car extremely dynamic and fun to drive. The first thing you get to notice fresh at the M3 with the CP is the extra power juice and boost.

With the Competition Package, the BMW M3 Sedan feels more alive, getting to enjoy the same 3.0-liter inline straight-six engine, now developing 444 horsepower, and allowing a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.
Even so, it does not match the Giulia QV`s 2.9-liter twin-turbo engine with as close as 505 horsepower, with the same sprint done in rather the same figure as the M3 Competition Package. Both models come with automatic transmission, adding a rear-wheel drive layout.

However, on track, the M3 Competition Package seems to fall behind the Giulia QV with around 4 tenths, the model managing a lap run in 2:00.61, while the Giulia QV ran the same distance in 2:00.22. And in this business, each millisecond counts.

The slight difference counts when it comes to far more advanced aerodynamics in the QV in favor of superior technology on-board of the M3. So, with no further ado, even if Motor Trend chose the QV, it might remain a consolation for you to watch the video below. It`s well-worth it!
