We already knew BMW had plans regarding its access to the electric vehicle market. The release of BMW models such as the i3 and i8 is proof of this, however, turning already released vehicle models, such as the BMW X3, into fully electric cars, shows that the Bavarian automaker really means business when it comes to becoming more environmentally friendly.

While at first glance the BMW X3 looks like a normal version of the very popular SUV, the absence of an exhaust system and the presence of a charge port near the left, front wheel arch remind us that this is indeed a special variant of the BMW X3 model. The interesting fact about this particular version is that no compromise has been made in order for it to be transformed into an electric vehicle. Apart from the fuelling system being radically different, the electric BMW X3 will be fitted with the same equipment we see on the regular BMW X3s out there.

The electric BMW X3 is without a doubt a car that most BMW fans look forward to. The vehicle itself combines the best of both worlds. On one hand it is as luxurious as we’ve come to expect from the Bavarian automaker, while on the other, it is more environmentally friendly. Owning an electric vehicle also means saving money on account of electricity being cheaper than fuel. Another important advantage is the reduction of noise. It will be interesting to see how many people will decide to buy the electric BMW X3. The future looks promising for this particular model.

BMW has already planned to release a hybrid version of the same BMW X3 before it releases the fully electric one. Even if BMW is serious about concentrating on the electric vehicle market, it seems that the Bavarian automaker has planned a smooth and slow transition from the classic fuel vehicles to the modern electric ones. Having a solid strategy, BMW will definitely evolve and reach a new level of development.

The electric BMW X3 will definitely prove a successful concept. It will be interesting to see which BMW models will become electric next. Regardless, the presence of the BMW X3 electric prototype is a reminder that the electric upgrade plan has already begun. This shows that the Bavarian automaker is serious about concentrating on the electric market. This means BMW is about to offer serious competition to the other manufacturers of electric vehicles.

Each year, a jury of 48 international journalists from the automotive industry announces the finalists and awards the best cars for each category involved. This year`s World Car of the Year have also announced the finalists for the World Urban Car, World Green Car, World Luxury Car, World Car Design of and World Performance Car of the Year categories. Finally, the 2018 World Car of the Year decides which is the best model in the world.

The winning cars will be announced at the New York International Auto Show in March, with three finalists to be listed at this year`s 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

As expected, the competition is pretty tight and gathers the world`s most important models in each category. BMW is proud to be a finalist in no less than five of them. Unfortunately, it does miss the World Urban Car of the Year, this category being dominated by cars like Ford Fiesta or Volkswagen Polo. As BMW already announced, the German carmaker is preparing a whole range of models by 2020 that would revolutionize the auto industry with the latest technology and evolutionary designs. One of those models to emerge next summer as a 2018 MY, is no other than the G01 X3.

The decision of launching the all-new X3 sooner than other models is that the gorgeous SUV has had an exceptional run in the United States in the last years, the model being extremely appreciated by BMW purists thanks to its sheer size, gorgeous looks and impressive performance.

Due to arrive perhaps at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the all-new G01 BMW X3 promises to exceed expectations with a new design language, wider interior with the latest technology on board and plenty of power.

Once arriving on the market, the model will stand on the company`s new flexible modular architecture, meaning that it will shed off around 100 kg, making it thus lighter than the previous generation.

Speaking about performance, the new 2018 G01 BMW X3 is going to pack a powerful petrol burner in the shape of the B58, while the diesels will comprise to B47 2.0-liter engines, and a B57 3.0-liter straight-six cylinder. All of them will provide more torque and increase performance.

As for the plug-in hybrid version, the company will add a 2.0-liter petrol hooked to an electric motor, to deliver a total of 340 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. As expected, a top of the line X3 M40i with 369 horsepower will be shortly added, followed by an X3 M version, with around 422 horsepower.

BMW is testing out a lot of high-end models, including the recently caught on shots X7 SUV and our story`s star, the upcoming G01 BMW X3, wearing full camouflage as well.

The spy photos were provided by Bimmertoday and are revealing the gorgeous design lines that the SAV will be coming with at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The model is quietly sitting in a car park, a good opportunity for spy photographer to get a closer look. And as we can depict from the photos, the model looks visibly different as opposed to the present X3.

This means that it will come with a new kidney grille with chrome and black accents, adding a radar sensor on the front apron, just below the license plate, which provides useful information about the traffic and the surroundings.

As for the car`s new technology, the BMW X3 SAV will come with common features also shared with other latest models, including semi-autonomous driving, free-standing infotainment display, updated iDrive system and much more.

Also, the cabin will come with a more luxurious feel, thanks to the new high-end materials and sporty features on the seats, pedals or gear knob shifter.

As for the engines under the hood, the all-new 2018 G01 BMW X3 SAV will come with a wide range of diesels, fitted on the Europe`s available X3 xDrive20d or X3 xDrive30d. The X3 M40d will also gain a six-cylinder biturbo diesel with an M Sport package as well. For the moment, the detailing list is rather scarce, but we should expect fresh news in the upcoming period!

BMW has sent the future G01 X3 for some new tests at the Ring, which was the perfect opportunity for journalists to catch it on a new spy video. The test mule seen here is wearing full camouflage, indicating that the SUV will come with significant changes as opposed to the current model.

We have seen the BMW X3 on the streets ever its humble arriving in 2011, and this would be the first time to come with visible changes at the exterior, interior as well as under the hood.

As we already know from the previous articles with the spied X3, the model wearing here full black and white camouflage will come with plenty of new styling bits, also seen on the latest generation X1, only being also bigger and wider inside the cabin.

As opposed to the current BMW X3, the new model will come with a bulker design, highlighted by the bolstered wheel arches, updated front and rear end, while the kidney grilles are also likely to suffer other significant modifications.

Under the hood, we do not have any details concerning new powertrains, but we should expect fresh news in the upcoming period. Before arriving on the market, the model could be previewed by a concept version at the beginning of 2017. The production model will shortly followed, and coming as the direct competitor of the new Mercedes GLC 43 AMG or Audi SQ5.

The German-based BMW carmaker is currently testing out an entire fleet of models, including the all-new BMW M5 or 2018 G30 Sedan and G31Touring from the 5-Series that will replace the current F10 model.

The latest flagship to undergo serious testing at the Ring is the upcoming BMW X3, set to debut in 2017 as a 2018 YM. This one seen here is looking bigger and more menacing than the current model, as it is also the case of all future BMW models.

We already know that BMW is building its new models bigger and bigger and the 5-Series is the perfect example of a model to take on the 7-Series sedan. Well, I`m just kidding with the last part, however, the new X3 is also looking extremely wide, the model standing on the same CLAR platform, also underpinning the 7-Series or the upcoming 5-Series and M5.

From a visual standpoint, the 2018 BMW X3 is imposing with the new styling bits, starting with the new and more prominent bumpers, advanced lights system and finishing with the new wheels and plethora of high-tech goodies inside the cabin, also borrowed from the all-new 7-Series.

Performance wise, the 2018 BMW X3 is reported to carry over the same 2.0-liter petrol burners and diesels, but with improved characteristics. Additionally, the carmaker will also introduce a 3.0-liter turbo six-cylinder engines, with more than 350 horsepower. As expected, a plug-in hybrid petrol flat-four mill will also be introduced later on.

We all know that Japan has a fine taste for exclusive and limited edition cars, especially if they come from carmakers like BMW. In our case, the Germans celebrate the centenary with another limited edition of the X3 this time, called the “Blackout”.

The BMW X3 Blackout is a real standout model, as it wraps the Individual`s Sapphire Black body color, and along with a black trim, black kidney grille and the black wheels, makes the perfect choice for a show out in the crowded and night glowing Tokyo.

Stepping inside, the cabin delights you with a fine BMW Individual Ansorajito Roof lining, along with the black Nevada leather seats, aluminum pedals or interior trim in a brushed aluminum. And let`s not forget the X3 “Blackout” badge all around the cabin.

As for the powertrain under the hood, the BMW X3 Blackout comes with a 2.0-liter flat-four engine, with a good output of 184 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, being sent to the wheels via a high-performance ZF eight-speed transmission.

In case you were wondering how many units will be available in Japan, BMW stated that for the moment only 200 vehicles will enter the market starting 6th of August, each one coming with a price tag of 6,980,000, the equivalent of $68,000.

The rumor mill of a future 2018 G01 BMW X3 is not new, the hot SUV being long-debated and seen in some renderings.

The latest one is signed by the rendering artists from OmniAuto and have envisioned the model with an extremely appealing yet evolutionary design. It should be a normal thing, especially since BMW has changed its attitude in terms of styling, making its SUVs bigger, wider but extremely evolutionary.

The future 2018 G01 BMW X3 will arrive at the end of 2017 and will stand on the carmaker`s fresh CLAR platform, the same one found on the carmaker`s latest models, and which consists of aluminum and carbon fiber components. This means a lightweight body of around 100 kg, which will make it faster and more agile.

As far as the visuals go, the upcoming G01 X3 is set to come with an updated front fascia housing a larger kidney grille, with inspiration from the newly unveiled 7-Series. Other features refer to plastic body cladding, lower roofline, tailgate-mounted spoiler, dual-exhaust system and new taillights.

Inside, the cabin is also believed to complement the interior with new and modern design elements, along with a digital instrument cluster and the iDrive display.

Under the hood, rumors also have it that the 2018 G01 BMW X3 is believed to pack a wide array of flat-four 2.0- and inline six-cylinder 3.0-liter engines, with power between 350 horsepower and an impressive 500 horsepower.

The 2017 F25 BMW X3 has been recently caught on shots in South Carolina, outside BMW`s Spartanburg factory, the model wearing one of its special body wraps, the Chestnut Bronze Metallic, as the replacement of the Sparkling Brown Metallic.

As we can depict from the spy shots, the F25 X3 is coming with an evolutionary design which would make it a real standout model from the crowd, the SUV also looking a little bit bigger and wider.

From what we know so far, the 2017 BMW F25 BMW X3 will come with a lot of updated technology inside, like new navigation system with iDrive 5.0, Wireless Charging and WI-FI Hotspot.

The 2017 BMW X3 will start production in August, next year, the SUV reaching its dealerships at the end of the year or at the beginning of 2018.

As for the price tags, the 2017 F25 BMW X3 will be available from $38,950 in the X3 sDrive28i, followed by the X3 xDrive28i with $40,950, X3 xDrive28d with $42,500, while the top of the line X3 xDrive35i will set you back at $47,650.

The all-new BMW X3 is popping-up in our news again in new tests, this time the model being driven on the famous Nurburgring race track.

According to some new reports, the new BMW X3 is nlikely to be unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, BMW focusing more on revealing the facelift 5-Series. This means that it would be launched next year as a 2017 YM.

As previously discussed, the 2017 BMW X3 is coming with an extremely evolutionary design, highlighted by the new front fascia with standout grille which is flanked by the slender headlights.

Other features refer to a panoramic glass sunroof, tailgate-mounted spoiler as well as a dual-exhaust system.
As most of the upcoming BMW models, the 2017 BMW X3 will also underpin the CLAR platform, meaning lightweight materials for improved driving dynamics and increased performance.

Speaking about performance, the all-new BMW X3 is reported to come with 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol mills and diesels, adding a 3.0-liter inline six. As expected, a plug-in hybrid will join the club, along with the high-end X3 M40i with a 3.0-liter flat-six turbocharged engine, developing 360 horsepower and 343 lb-ft of torque.
