BMW officially confirmed our previous assumptions and announced that the revolutionary BMW i8, the hybrid supercar based on BMW’s Vision EfficientDynamics concept, will feature the new Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, a movie directed by Brad Bird which is most likely to be released later this year, mid of December 2011 to be more precise. Check the link above and you will be able to see some photos with the new i8 on the set somewhere in Mumbai, India. The Germans announced that the 2012 6 Series Convertible will be also seen in the movie.

The Bavarians issued a press release announcing that they are back in Hollywood and they were confirmed as the movie’s main automotive partner.

LeeAnne Stables, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Partnerships at Paramount Pictures, claimed that they really appreciate BMW’s dedication and support mainly considering that the German company had to follow the production team around the world, as mentioned above, the movie being filmed in various location and continents. BMW responded to the kind words and claimed that they are very excited to be part of this huge project. Of course, being the main automotive partner of this film will bring BMW most likely a sales boost or at least will strengthen the image of the brand.

“We are thrilled to be involved again in another Hollywood Blockbuster,” said Ian Robertson, BMW AG Board Member for Sales and Marketing. “The BMW Group leads the way in developing future mobility with a focus on sustainability. One great example is the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept car which will be presented in the film.”

“With its futuristic design and large glass surfaces, the car offers a fascinating perspective on the future of sheer driving pleasure – in combination with maximum efficiency. Also with BMW ConnectedDrive technology, it is the perfect car for Ethan Hunt to outsmart his pursuers through narrow streets and busy city traffic,” adds BMW. The BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept, a very good looking car indeed, will be the main four-wheel celebrity in the upcoming Mission Impossible 4 film. Alongside the Bavarian concept, or better known the BMW i8, another new model bearing BMW’s badge will feature the new film, we talk about the 2012 BMW 6-Series Convertible.

The current photos are taken somewhere in Mumbai, India, but the German prototype has been also seen in the United Kingdom, Dubai and Canada while shooting for the film.

Ghost Protocol is the name of the new Mission Impossible film and Ethan Hunt is the name of the main character that will be interpreted by the famous Tom Cruise. In my opinion, combining a good looking model such as the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics with special effects, stunts and courageous shot angles will result into an enjoyable cinematographic production.

Usually, in the last paragraph we give details about the releasing date of a new model or so, but this time we will tell you when the Mission Impossible 4 will hit the theaters. According to the first details, you will be able to see the German car in the new series later this year.

Ever since BMW has announced its concept car named Vision EfficientDynamics at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2009, the world began to think about the possibility of a car that does two things very well: looks outstanding and also has a very good fuel economy. And it’s getting near us.

Now, getting back at the present time, we got a piece of news that is sure to be of great importance. According to Ian Robertson, sales and marketing director for BMW, the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics is said to have a price tag of about 150,000 euros (around $200,000) when it will be launched. That kind of money doesn’t come by too often, but it will get you a car packing a three cylinder diesel hybrid that sports 328 hp and a huge 62.5 mpg fuel economy.

Unfortunately, there is no official launch date for the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics, although a few speculations could be made, as the German car manufacturer will be sponsoring the 2012 London Olympics and that could be a prime candidate for a debut. Either that or the year 2013, but we shall be looking for more info on that.

There are some rumors that Mercedes is trying to keep up with BMW in terms of innovative hybrid models and it’s possible that the German manufacturer to think seriously about creating a green model able to be a respectable rival for the Bavarian model.

Mercedes might surprise us with a new hybrid model based on the Biome concept earlier revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show. If these rumors are true, Mercedes should speed up the process of manufacturing as the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics was already confirmed to enter the series production.

According to Hubert Lee, one of the designers who drew the Mercedes Biome concept in Carlsbad, California, claimed that the German model was designed in such a manner to be easily introduced into series production. Mercedes Biome concept took part recently at the Los Angeles Design Challenge, a competition where lightweight concepts benefiting from innovative propulsion systems challenged.

Back in 2009 at the Frankfurt Auto Show, BMW revealed an amazing concept called Vision EfficientDynamics, a model that imposed itself firstly by the aesthetics. Today, at Leipzig, where BMW manufactures several model, a full-working BMW Vision EfficientDynamics was revealed together with all the details we need to know.

The Bavarian model inspired from the concept bearing the same name brings out two electric engines and a three-cylinder turbodiesel propeller able to develop together 328 horsepower but manages to keep the CO2 emissions at 99 g/km while the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 4,8 seconds.

The fuel consumption figures were also released, BMW managing to optimize the hybrid sports car to need just 3,7 liters/100 km. Combining the autonomy figures of the electric and diesel engine the model manages to provide about 750 kilometers, the batteries giving us about 50 kilometers from the total. Thanks to the outstanding design which combines the performance with the style the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics has a drag coefficient of just 0.22.

As some main details about this new BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept, it has a consumption of just 3.73 liters for 100 kilometers and 99 grams of CO/2 of emissions which is more than great because at this little requirement of fuel, it develops a big amount of power.

BMW Vision EfficientDynamics is one of the greatest concepts made by BMW. As you can see it was revealed at the Frankfurt Auto Show. More exactly, at the end, BMW Vision EfficientDynamics appeared. This car represents the future generation of cars looking from any angle. The rims are very special, I didn’t see them so far on any concept BMW. For full-hybrid drive you can use only the two electric engines and combined with combustion, it uses 3.76 liter/100 kilometers.

I said before and I will say it again, I love this concept for his consumption, for the futuristic design and for the thing that it has almost nothing on it that a normal car does.
