The 2016 BMW X1 may not be regarded as one of the most potent SUVs from the entire BMW lineup, but it still comes with a lot of features that makes it the best family car for your daily commuting and outdoors activities.

BMW UK has recently launched a video with the 2016 BMW X1, trying to showcase the special qualities that the entry-level SUV is coming with in terms of design, space inside and technological goodies, or of the high-performance engines that make it an extraordinary vehicle.

And from my point of view, the 2016 BMW X1 is coming perhaps with the best quality-price ratio, compared to its direct competitors, the Audi Q3 or the Mercedes-Benz GLA, which are way more expensive and rather sporting the same features.

The video incites us with a simple yet incisive message: “feel free to think that you can do pretty much anything with this car, and go pretty much anywhere.” And indeed, for the money you will pay, this SUV is more than just a simple SUV.

Practicality is the main attribute that can describe the interior of the 2016 BMW X1, the cabin boasting with plenty of space for passengers and back storage spaces for luggage, along with the plethora of high-end materials and safety systems.

A generous cabin and an exquisite design language go hand in hand with the powertrain lineup under the hood, the 2016 BMW X1 proving a really powerful SUV, in almost any circumstances. We are dealing here with a 2.0-liter petrol engine with two power configurations, like 192 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque, respectively 231 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque.

The diesel comes with the same 2.0-liter mill, with three configurations: 150 horsepower and 330 Nm of torque, 190 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, as well as 231 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. All are hooked to a six-speed manual as well as the new eight-speed automatic transmissions, sending the power to the front or to all corners.

The new BMW 2-Series Active Tourer is scheduled to debut in the United Kingdom this month, a good opportunity for BMW to release new photos and an official presentation video.

As a reminder, the new model measures 4,3 meters in length and 1,8 meters in width with a trunk capacity of 1,510 liters when whe rear seats are folded.

In the UK, BMW plans to offer the 218i SE version which packs a new 136hp diesel engine. It starts from £22,150 and of course, is a right hand drive variant.

A slightly more powerful 150hp diesel is found on the BMW 218d SE and costs £24,205.

These two units will be available at launch alongside the front-wheel drive system. The xDrive versions as well as new 220i, 216d, 220d and 220d xDrive Active Tourer will be available starting November.

With the BMW i3 already in showrooms, everybody is expecting the industry to shift, just as the German car maker promised.

But as you might think, even an excellent electric vehicle won’t be enough to bring about the change.

A big part of a vehicle’s success, especially one that is not conventional yet, is the infrastructure. And this is still a limiting factor for most electric cars around the world. In order to put some doubts to rest, BMW UK decided to make a short video explaining just how well the country is equipped for the new i3.

To be more specific, they are explaining the option you will have when it comes to recharging your vehicle. Basically, there are three options so far: charge your BMW i3 at home, at work or at the 5.000 stations across UK.

If you choose to charge at home, you have the option of using a normal wall socket, or you can go for a charging station, with its installation cost being covered 75% by the government. But just check it out for yourselves below.

BMW released official pricing figures for the Competition Package in the United Kingdom. As you probably know, this option is available for the BMW M5 and M6 models.

The revised BMW M5 fitted with the Competition Package gets a power boost to a total output of 567 horses, larger 20-inch alloy wheels, a revised sport exhaust system and an improved suspension.

The new pack is priced at £6,700 which increases the starting price of the German model to 80,205. On the other hand, the BMW M6 gets the Competition Package at a price of £6,500 with the same features including the styling tweaks and the power boost.

In conclusion, if you want slightly more power and the 0-100 km/h sprint to be 0,2 seconds quicker but also few other sporty features, it means that the new option from BMW is for you.

The Germans at BMW announced their plans for the upcoming electric and hybrid models part of the i range. We talk about the i3 and i8, models which will hit the market quite soon, the BMW i3 being actually scheduled to go on sale this July.

BMW will sell their new models through a wide network of dealers, a total number of 46 only in the UK.

The new BMW i3 will be priced from £35,000 and will be available in two configurations. The first one represents a pure electric model while the second one benefits from a 0.65-liter engine which will act like a range extender.

The sportier BMW i8 will be a more exclusive model carrying a price tag of around €150,000.

It will benefit from a gasoline engine alongside an electric unit, a setup good enough to ensure a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of less than five seconds.

The Germans from BMW announced the pricing of the new 6 Series Coupe for the British market. The third generation 6 Series was revealed at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier this year and is expected to hit the British showrooms at the end of this week. The most affordable version of the German model is the BMW 640i SE Coupe priced at £59,565. It benefits from a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine offering 320 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, enough resources for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5,4 seconds.

The SE trim level brings Xenon headlights, front and rear parking sensors, LED fog lights, a set of 18-inch alloy wheels and Dakota leather upholstery inside.

The only diesel offering is the BMW 640d which is powered by a six-cylinder diesel with 313 horsepower and 630 Nm of torque. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5,5 seconds and hits a top speed of 250 km/h.

The most powerful 6 Series in the UK is the BMW 650i and is priced at £71,840 and comes with 407 horses and 600 Nm of torque. This power comes from a 4.4-liter eight-cylinder unit able to kick the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4,9 seconds, hitting a limited top speed of 250 km/h.

The Germans from BMW announced that the British market received the two millionth vehicle bearing the BMW badge. The Bavarians entered the British market in 1980, the first model being sold on January 1, a BMW M535i sedan, the E12 generation. These days, the German delivered the two millionth car in the UK, namely a BMW 530d Gran Turismo, a quite controversial model.

We affirmed that because the GT version of the new BMW 5 Series returned poor sales in the US, more and more people complaining about the model in question which somehow replaces the Touring versions in certain regions.

“Ken’s been a delight to deal with and is just the sort of person who buys a BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo; he’s someone who used to drive Mercedes and lately was in a Volkswagen Phaeton, but has now moved to BMW,” said Steve Mills, Director at Benham BMW.

Ken Haynes from Wolverhampton is the happy customer which got the anniversary model and claimed that he is totally delighted to be the two million man for BMW. He also points out that the BMW 530d Gran Turismo is the perfect vehicle for him as it offers versatility and high standard specs.

The new BMW 1 Series hatchback is scheduled to enter the British showrooms in mid-September after its debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in the same period. Therefore, the Germans from BMW released the UK pricing of the second generation 1 Series, a model which comes with a starting price of £19,375. The British department of BMW claimed that 2012 should bring sales figures of around 20,000 units for the new 1 Series, but not only for the current variant as the Germans plan to introduce up to six different body styles for the model in question.

“The all-new, second generation BMW 1 Series occupies a distinctive niche within its segment, offering a unique and rewarding combination of agile, precise handling, improved aesthetics and innovative technology,” this is how the Germans describe in few words the new model.

The UK-spec 1 Series will be available with five units, two petrol and three diesel engines to be more precise. All the units are available either with a new eight-speed automatic or the classic six-speed manual transmission. The BMW 116i comes with a 1.6-liter unit producing 136 horsepower and returning a fuel consumption of 49,6mpg UK.

The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is possible in 8,5 seconds while the second petrol choice is a more powerful variant of the same engine offering 170 horsepower. This engine fits the 118i, does the 0-100 km/h in 7,4 seconds and comes with a fuel economy of 47,9mpg UK.

On the other side, BMW offers the 116d, 118d and 120d with a 2.0-liter turbo diesel unit with three different outputs, of course. The entry-level version is able to deliver 116 horsepower while the more potent units produce 143 and 184 horses.

In terms of dimensions, the new 1 Series increased over the first generation by 83mm in length and 14mm in width while the luggage capacity is now around 360 liters, an improvement of over 30 liters. Moreover, folding the rear seats will significantly bring some extra space leading to a total capacity of 1,200 liters.

The most expensive version is the BMW 120d with the 184hp engine, the final price rising to £24,720 while the cheapest one is the 116i ES.

BMW UK decided to reveal the pricing and availability details for the fifth generation M5, a model fully introduced few weeks ago. According to the official details, the new BMW M5 is priced from £73,040 in the UK while the German customers will have to pay €102,700 for the base model. The 2012 BMW M5 will enter the European showrooms on November 19 while the U.S. customers will have to wait until this fall to get the new German sport model and pricing details.

If we get deeper into the pricing details, we can see that the new M5 F10 is about £8,000 more expensive than the previous generation but don’t forget that you get what BMW calls “the most potent engine ever devised by BMW’s high-performance M division”.

Under the bonnet, the high-revving 4.4-litre V8 is able to produce 560 horsepower from 5750-7000rpm and 680 Nm of torque, making it the most potent series-production engine of the M division. As we previously mentioned, the new V8 unit which replaces the old V10 that fits the previous generation is able to provide 10% more maximum power and an increase of 30% in terms of peak torque.

Even the engine decreased, the new BMW M5 (F10) is still able to deliver improved performance being able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 4,4 seconds while the top speed is electronically limited at 250 km/h. According to the extended details revealed by BMW UK, the new M5 F10 features a low speed assistance function which will help in heavy traffic conditions, making the German model move smoothly with a single touch of the accelerator.

“For more than 25 years the BMW M5 Saloon has defined the high-performance saloon, in the process becoming the most successful car of its type in the world. Now a new fifth-generation model raises the concept of the premium executive saloon combining track-car dynamics and supreme touring comfort to an even higher level,” add the Germans.

According to the official information, more details about the new German model are going to be released soon, therefore, we have to keep an eye on the official web pages for further information until the model hit the showrooms. Even the U.S. pricing is not available yet, expect a starting price of around $85,000.

In case you wanted to boost the performance of your powerful BMW X5 and were wondering where to take it, Superchips tuning company from the United Kingdom got its hands on the BMW X5 3.0D and decided to offer increased performance for it via an ECU remapping.

After having analyzed the stock 3-litre 264 bhp diesel engine, new improvements were deemed possible, not only increasing the engine’s performance, but also it’s fuel efficiency. Regarding the performance of the Superchips BMW X5 3.0D, the boost offered by the ECU upgrade is by 44 bhp, the car now sporting a total of 313 bhp. It’s torque also increased by 90 Nm, from 549 Nm to 627 Nm. The Superchips X5 3.0D has a top speed (which is limited electronically) of 155 mph.

And regarding the fuel consumption, the increased performance don’t have a noticeable effect on it. The ECU remap even improves the consumption. All these statements are based on extensive road and dyno testing done by Superchips.
