There are no official tests to test how rapid is the newly unveiled 2015 BMW X6 M on the track, but according to Auto Sport, the model is considered as fast as the E92 BMW M3.

The conclusions were reached after the 2015 BMW X6 M has run over 8,000 kilometers on the Nurburgring, which makes it equal to the BMW E92 M3.

The 2015 BMW X6 M thus run the Nurburgring-Nordschleife in a good 8:24 minutes, while the E92 M3 managed 8:04 minutes, which will make the F86 X6 M 20 seconds faster than the previous model.

The performance is also due to the SUVs weight, as Herbert Bayerl, the project manager at BMW, states that the 2015 BMW X6 M is just 2,275 kg, which would easy compete the lighter E92 M3, with its 1,700 kilos.

The record lap held at Nurburgring belongs however to the Range Rover Sport SVR, running 8:14 minutes, a good timing which BMW says it managed to overcome it many times.

There are many good looking vehicles out there that took (better) shape under the hands of many tuning companies. And although not every creation is a looker, some do manage to improve on the appearance of the cars from BMW.

But that doesn’t mean the German car maker is without style. And to prove that, they used the New York International Auto Show to display one of their E92 BMW M3.

So this M3 is clad in what BMW calls Frozen Red paint, which was introduced as a limited edition along with the Frozen Blue and Frozen White. BMW also added some other modifications like 19 inch matte black wheels.

High gloss elements include the exhaust tips, the kidney grille and the side gills. A Competition Package ZCP was also fitted. The interior uses black leather, the Novillo kind, all stitched together with nice contrasting thread.

In conclusion it is a sensibly “tuned” E92 BMW M3 (in my mind) that manages to spruce up the looks without doing anything extreme.

BMW of North America announced that the BMW M3 Frozen Black, the special edition of the German model dedicated to the U.S. market sold out extremely fast. As we previously talked, the current M3 E92 received yet another special edition, this time dedicated to the American customers that are not very satisfied with the standard BMW M3. In the beginning, it seemed that the spicy price tag won’t attract too many customers mainly considering that the Frozen Black edition brings no major improvements.

However, according to BMWNA, the BMW M3 Frozen Black sold out in around 20 minutes after the ordering phone lines opened. This is not the first time when a limited edition dedicated to the American customers vanished in a matter of minutes, the previous M3 Frozen Gray being sold out in just 12 minutes.

If the M3 Frozen Gray was manufactured in 30 units, the new Frozen Black special edition was available in only 20 units, one of them being reserved for the American division of BMW. According to BMW, the nineteen units will be delivered starting this month while the last model is expected to reach its customer by the end of July.

As expected, the BMW M3 Frozen Black brings no power upgrades, the same 4.0-liter V8 engine developing the same amount of power, 414 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. Alongside an M Double Clutch Transmission (M-DCT), the German model sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,5 seconds.

The noteworthy modifications brought by this special edition are the new matte black exterior finish, 19-inch GTS alloy wheels, gloss black components and red brake calipers. At the interior, the customers benefit from carbon leather trim, Novillo leather upholstery, heated front seats, red stitching and the BMW Individual Enhanced Premium Sound System.

Other features of the M3 Frozen Black include BMW Assist with Bluetooth, Park Distance Control, Navigation System, iPod and USB connectivity, Real-time Traffic Information and Universal garage-door opener. A revised suspension able to lower the ground clearance by 10 mm is available too while the pricing starts at $79,650 but unfortunately is too late to place your order.

The BMW M3 E92 is probably the model that received the most special editions from the Germans, yet another one being revealed these days. We talk about Frozen Black, a special edition dedicated, this time, to the U.S. customers as the last three (Carbon Edition, Matte Edition and Tiger Edition) were specially designed for the Chinese market. As you probably expected, all these editions are based on the current-generation BMW M3 Coupe, internally known as E92.

Of course, the German engineers fitted the BMW M3 Frozen Black with the same 4.0-liter V8 unit able to produce 414 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque.

The V8 engine comes with an M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic, the long version of M-DCT, while the 0-100 km/h acceleration is possible in 4,5 seconds. Actually, there is no surprise that these special editions of the current M3 are getting no performance upgrades, just aesthetic tweaks at the interior and exterior.

According to BMW USA, the new M3 Frozen Black gets a special matte black exterior finish, this feature giving the name of the new edition. The exterior appearance is completed by a new set of 19-inch GTS wheels, red brake calipers and components with a glossy black finish.

On the other hand, the interior is enhanced by higher quality materials such as a new leather upholstery, Novillo to be more precise, carbon leather trim, heated front seats, GPS navigation, a more powerful BMW Individual Enhanced Premium Sound System and red stitching for the seats, headrests, door inserts, armrests, middle console, and door pulls. Optional, you can opt for extra features such as a lowered ground clearance, iPod and USB connectivity, power front seats, anti-theft alarm system and park distance control.

According to the official details, the BMW M3 Frozen Black is limited to 20 units while the starting price is $79,650. “The 2011 Frozen Black Edition M3 Coupe continues the tradition of innovation and passion for driving by incorporating key changes to the M3’s dynamic qualities. Nineteen of the twenty Frozen Black Edition M3 Coupes will become available for delivery in late June 2011 through Authorized BMW Centers, and the production run will be completed by the end of July 2011. The twentieth car will be held by BMW of North America and may be sold at a later date,” said the Bavarians.

The American specialists from Vorsteiner decided to pull the wraps off a new tuning package, this time dedicated to the current M3 generation. To be more precise, we talk about a complete tuning kit designed for the M3 E92, a package that makes the German model faster but also brings a significantly improvements in terms of appearance.

The new tuning kit released by Vorsteiner is called “Candy Cane” but the American specialists told us that we don’t have to worry, it’s sugar free. Leaving the joke aside, the German performance model received the GTRS3 wide-body kit that manages to bring a fresh air in terms of styling.

As expected, Vorsteiner used carbon fiber components in order to keep the total mass as low as possible but, as we can see from the photos, some they came with a contrasting red finish for certain parts. In the front, the Vorsteiner BMW M3 E92 benefits from a revised font bumper with larger air intakes and carbon fiber panels and a new hood with carbon fiber air intakes. The German model received a set of side sills, revised side mirrors with red finish, exactly as the outline of the upper air intakes from the hood and the new 20-inch V-309 forged rims wearing 285/25/20 (front) 325/25/20 (back) Michelin PS2 Sport high performance tires.

In the rear, a VRS carbon fiber boot lid is available alongside a new lightweight titanium exhaust system. The new “Candy Cane” tuning package also features a high performance Brembo GTR braking system both for the front and rear wheels. If this great-looking styling package is not enough for you, the American tuners offer a performance upgrade which will certainly make the difference.

Under the bonnet, Vorsteiner offers a new AA E9X M3 Supercharger Stage II kit able to squeeze 620 horsepower from the 4.0-liter V8 unit that fits the Bavarian M model. Moreover, a KW coil-over kit is available too, therefore, you get a revised suspension and a more comfortable ride alongside increased performance and a stunning styling package. Inside, Vorsteiner provides a set of red piping logo embroidered floor mats. The BMW M3 E92 “Candy Cane” has been revealed to the public at this year’s edition of Bimmerfest while no pricing details are available yet.

Following the previous commercial for the new BMW 5 Series F10, the Bavarians reveal a new video which is not quite a commercial but it’s pretty dynamic and interesting to be considered a promoting material.

Called “The Chase”, the three-minute video features a tuned BMW M3 E92 as well as a modified BMW RR. The main reason of this video is to prove which is the best on the track, the motorcycle or the four-wheel vehicle.

Due to some minor adjustments operated by Akropovic Evolution, the BMW M3 E92 develops 442 horsepower from the 4.0-liter V8 engine while the BMW RR offers 198 horses which manage to bring the first place in the end of the video mainly due to the weight of just 197 kilograms.

The custom BMW M3 E92 also got some modifications in terms of weight, the scale showing in the end only 1,623 kilograms, not enough to beat the Bavarian motorcycle indeed. Make yourself comfortable and hit play at the following video being sure to turn the volume up in order to enjoy some high revs.

If few months ago the Germans from BMW officially announced their intentions to return the DTM competition from 2012, today, they reveal some further details on how they will manage to overcome their eternal rivals such as Audi and Mercedes.

Even the development of the vehicles is not completely done, the Germans announced the line-up for the 2012 season of the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters). BMW is determined to impose in the competition after 18 years of absence with six vehicles based on the current M3 E92.

BMW Motorsport picked three teams which will be given two vehicles to race. Namely, BMW Team Schnitzer, Reinhold Motorsport GmbH and BMW Team RBM will have the mission to bring the victory, each team having two models available as we stated above.

In the press release, Mario Theissen, the man behind BMW Motorsport stated that a great amount of work has been needed in the recent months, various teams offering to occupy one of the three places available. In the end, BMW Team RBM, BMW Team Schnitzer and Reinhold Motorsport GmbH proved to be the best choices.

BMW decided to unveil a new limited edition, this time designed for the Dutch market. The base model is the BMW M3 E92 which suffered few modifications such as the special matte gray exterior and a new high performance exhaust system.

The BMW M3 E92 Track Edition is specially deisgned for the Dutch market and will be manufactured in just 10 units with a price of €128,470 each. At the exterior we can also find the Frozen Black 19-inch alloy wheels together with a carbon fiber front splitter.

The special edition of the German model offers carbon fiber trim inside but also new leather sport seats and red stitching. The ground clearance of the new Track Edition is lowered by 100 mm while a new “Race” option is available. The new M3 Track Edition develops now a top speed of 280 km/h and gets the electronic damper control system. The Dutch customers have to wait until this spring to order one of these.

Denis Malevanyi, a professional car driver decided to make a comparison between a real life lap at the Nurburgring Nordscleife track and a virtual lap in the well-known Gran Turismo 5 driving simulator. The model driven both in real life and in the video game is the BMW M3 E92, the video presenting us side to side the comparison test.

We talked pretty much in the last time about the Gran Turismo 5 driving simulator, the game being one of the most awaited games. It took about 5 years for this game to take shape and it comes with no less than 1031 vehicles and 71 racing tracks.

The video below shows the differences between the real life driving conditions and the virtual situation, and we can clearly see that the developers of the Gran Turismo 5 managed to translate very well the real life conditions into the new driving simulator. Few people claimed that the Gran Turismo 5 is even better than the real life driving. What’s your opinion?

When one hears about the Onyx Concept tuning company, Range Rover will most probably come to mind, or more recently Bentley or Porsche. But the company will be adding yet another car manufacturer to it’s belt with the addition of a tuning kit (both for performance and for aesthetics) designed for the BMW M3 E92.

Regarding the looks department according to Onyx, the BMW M3 E92 has received new front and rear bumpers, new sideskirts, a front lip made of carbon fiber, as well as a carbon fiber roof tip spoiler, bonnet, a boot lid and a rear difusser.

The carbon fiber is also present in the interior of the Onyx Concept BMW M3 E92 with the addition of a 12pc panelling kit that features carbon weaves in different colors or bufallo hide leather.

Regarding performance, Onyx Concept has done a good job by offering a boost to the 4-litre V8 engine from the stock 414 hp to 621 hp. The company didn’t exacly say how it managed to obtain that magic number.

The tuning package for the Onyx BMW M3 E92 will be available at the end of October, but its price tag is yet to be announced.
